Individual parts cost $520 if you're in Melbourne, so the difference would be the labour. Normal price… no bargain.

Dont agree.. by your logic for $50 you get it built with warranty which for most 'normal' people is well worth it…

Where this does fall down though is people who cant, or dont want, to build it will want the OS to be installed for them too… while they offer to sell the OS I dont see mention of them installing it.

        • We offer windows 7 under the software section of the site. If purchased together with a computer we will pre-install it at no extra charge.

        • You can usually get the same deal anywhere else (ie. ~$50 for assembly and warranty). Therefore it is not really a bargain. Which part of that do you not agree with?

        • Then post somewhere with this unit at a better price

        • Hyundai is becoming better and better. Whe nthey first started they were ok but now they are right up there, still far off from BMW etc but they are getting there.

What have Acer got to do with this? This is the ASUS barebones, which is a far cry from the dubious Acer Quality.

I think he got confused….. Asus, Acer…. same same ;).

Acer wasn't even mention in the description.

Stay on target…..stay on target……..waaaaaaaaaa! boom

      • Yup, you sure know your IT gear! :p

    • I think you should actually compare it with another already built computer of similar specs with 2 years warranty. If you compare it with buying the parts you are not comparing apples with apples.

Besides most shops that advertise cheaper prices online in staticice or the like, they either don't have the parts available in stock and if they order them the price is higher than the advertised, they offer really bad service with no real warranty support, charge a big restocking fee, etc.

  • Unit looks nice, would fit in as a HTPC easily.

Price is OK, buying all the parts works out to be about $10-20 cheaper.

Edit: And beaten - on price as well apparently. :P

    • HTPC's typically require a graphics card if I'm not mistaken.

Can't remember the last time I've seen a OEM PC promoted as a HTPC with onboard graphics.

      • HDMI out + Intel H55/Core i5 graphics = HTPC

The GPU inbuilt into the Core i's is more than fast enough to decode up to 1080p. This unit would perform fine as a HTPC. :)

  • I agree with ryang particularly when you get cheap deals at MSY and the like stores
