Isn't V30+ $999 normal price at JB Hifi? The V30s ThinQ was just announced also…

    • The only hardware difference between the V30S and the V30/V30+ is the RAM and storage.

      • …. And apparently the original v30+ will get those updates as well.

        • Do you mean the original v30+ will be getting the standard 2 updates manufacturers provide for new models (in this case the ThinkQ?

        • @Jackson:

Original owners should get the updates with the Ai camera stuff.

        • @thisispants: Doesn't the Ai Camera stuff rely on some hardware processing?

        • @Jackson: my understanding is no.

It's also $1049 at Mobileciti (on their website), who happen to own Allphones. I bought a V20 from Allphones a little while ago and I got a Mobileciti tax invoice, which would suggest they essentially use Allphones as their eBay store, which means if they didn't price jack in anticipation of the 20% sale the V30+ would be selling for $839ish (and I would probably buy). The first eBay seller who has the gumption to not price jack will get some serious Ozb karma.

      • yeah.. they usually reduce prices for some products during ebay promotion instead of price jack :)

      • @ebosh, Yeah, Same here, I was thinking how great allphones/mobilciti are. And almost pulled the trigger on this $475 phone using the 20% off code PREWINTER on allphones ebay store and getting it for $380.

Then I saw this and this and wondered why allphones have listed this phone at a price almost 16% more than JB and HN ?

  • Are there any other dual sim phones (non 2g), with a good camera, around this money or cheaper?

    • MI A1… camera might be debatable….

      • The camera always seems to be iffy on the Chinese ones…

        • You have to weigh it up ….but < $250 ….good with light …low light…not so much

    • LG V20. Should be able to find it for under $500 for local stock (although not part of this eBay sale unfortunately)

      • Wouldn’t you go a G6 over a V20?

        • Absolutely yes. Mum and sister have v20s and I have G6, G6 hands down.

        • For the same price yeah, but for $100+ less I'd grab the V20

      • Where? Can't find V20 anywhere for local stock, or even any reputable online stores

  • +1

Im very tempted with the g6 but Id say come s9 post pre-release (march 15??) there will be a significant drop on the s8 hopefully??? The s8 has been as low as $674 for AU stock previously….

  • +2

Was looking at exactly these listings at 5pm and I'm sure the price is more than this. Did they just do reverse price jack? kudos!

    • Yeah.. thats right. Prices dropped… it was previously listed AU $720.99 as per history
      Cheers !!

      • Aren't there cheaper LG G6's that are part of this ebay promotion? Why someone would buy this over the Amaysim one for e.g.

        • Amaysim is imported stock. Some Warranty considerations….

          csrnomercy on 16/01/2018 - 12:03
you have to contact Amaysim for warranty issues. Read the fine print carefully when it comes to warranty terms like under:

"You may return or exchange items that are less than 30 days old for a partial refund of the item value. The items must be in good condition (condition to be determined at the sole discretion of amaysim) and the exchange will incur a minimum 20% restocking fee per item. You are required to obtain an RMA code from the amaysim customer service team prior to returning the item. Refund and exchange values will be processed and credited once the item has been received and assessed by an amaysim representative. All open box items are assessed based on the following guidelines. Please note that the values described are offered as a minimum diminished value and will be affected by the condition of the item and its packaging:

The value of the item is assessed as being the complete value with the following values subtracted if they have occurred:

20% restocking fee is subtracted from the purchase value in all cases. The original shipping costs are not included in the purchase value of the item and are not refundable.
5% of the value is deducted if the manufacturers screen guard has been removed. This is a plastic film that is adhered to the screen for shipping damage protection.
10% of the value is deducted if the battery or accessories have been opened and removed from the individual original packaging and ties"

  • G6 has dropped by $6! Previous cheapest local deal was $559.62

    • +1

Yeah this is interesting. The G7 release date hasn't been announced as it was expected to do so in late Feb. As a result, the G6 is not dropping in price all that much. The G7 is still in its concept so may be released later this year. At which point I think the G6 will be too old and wont be all that attractive unless it goes well below $400.

      • +2

The G6 is over a year old! Most stores don't even stock it anymore. I know that HN got rid of all their G6s

        • +1

so does this mean we should wait longer for a price drop? Im tempted to buy G6 from this deal

        • +2

@hpkv: The G7 will be announced soon and the S9 is already in stores. I'd recommend waiting a bit longer for a price drop

  • Bit worried about the potential 20% restock fee - any info on this? I've purchased dud phones on ebay before and I don't want to get dinged for faulty products

    • +1

That only applies if you buy from AMAYSIM ebay store. All_phones deal does not have this condition AFAIK

      • Cool, thanks! I did some reading and it is applicable for allphones, but only to changes of mind. Defects have an "easy returns" policy which is relatively easy :)

Not trusting LG after my G4 died a few days ago with the Bootloop problem. LG have same issue with G5 and G6 as well.

    • You got some evidence to back your claim on boot loop exists in G6?

      • see my reply below…

        • To be honest, I love my G4. It served me well for 2 years and 3 months.

    • although bootlooping was a issue with g4, i haven't read any bootlooping issues with G6

  • Simply google "G6 bootloop".

  • The cost of the V30+ is now $886.39 after discount with allphones.

    • wow looks like prices reduced further thanks for the update :)

  • Mmmm the LG V30+ or a secondhand $500 S8…

I have been wondering the same thing and finally pulled the trigger on the V30 (except was comparing it to the s8 new). If you can get a decent looking s8 for 500 it might be compelling, but I think the V30 will do more for you. The only feature I will miss on the s8 is Dex, I would have definitely got a dock to try it out, but realistically I don't think it will be mature enough in the two years that I have the phone to care, and what is the use case anyway? By the time to carry cables and a dock you could be carrying laptop around, let alone where are you going to find spare computer monitors.

On the other hand the V30 has wide angle camera, quad dac, smooth finger zoom, probably better in phone video editing, and it's got an MIL rating for e.g drop proofing (I just made that term up, I don't know what to call it). Most of the features you miss on the s8 are a slightly better camera (hardly), bixby (who cares), a curved screen of which 4 out of 7 people know have broken a corner of, pretty much all stuff you can do without.

      • Fair enough. Main reason for the s8 for me was camera, display and having familiarity with Touchwiz. But I do want a better battery life (on s7 atm) and not liking the position of the finger print. Have you come across any screen issues yet? As that seems to plague some V30 owners.

        • +1

Haven't opened it yet, but I can let you know. According to the reviews it could be insignificant or terrible, depending on how sensitive you are and if you got a dud. One thing that was demonstrated was that preproduction models had screen issues that were mostly resolved and most of the complaints were about looking off axis which I don't really care about.

        • @Jackson:

Gotcha. I'll keep on the lookout then. Thanks for your help
