    What about Men?

      Section 18C?

      • +6

        Section 18C

Seems to cover everyone except white males!

I was editing my post to add….

        What about Men?

This is a load of bollocks.

A Chippendale salon is taking a stand after a woman was denied a cut at a men-only barber.

This guy is an idiot, the only reason why she was denied a cut (once) was a contractual issue with the landlord.

Edit: here we go… I've triggered a group of people off that love people that play the victim card….

        • +3

It's not hard to do these days. :)

        • +2

          @EightImmortals:

It's not hard to do these days. :)

          So true.

        • +3

You're the one who's the most triggered here, mate…

      • It doesnt state gender…

      • Ozbargainers like positive discrimination

        • -1

Except it's not discrimination. That particular salon specialises in men's haircuts.

    • It's international women's Day tomorrow.

      Don't believe me?

Say hi to your mum for me 😎

  • reported to ACCC - discrimination

    • Triggered?

      http://bfy.tw/GyVi

What would your wife (that is if you're capable of having one) daughter or Nanna say when they read your post? Disrespectful and triggered! 😂😂😂

      • -1

when they read they will be happy, they dont like discrimination. should be equal. offer to all or none.

  • +6

Well done to this man for standing up against a woman refusing to cut a woman's hair in a mens salon

I just hope all this extreme virtue signalling doesn't cause him any injury.

    • +1

HAHAHA… The more I read that, the more it does my head in. :D

      • +1

But don't forget it's for international Wamen's Day.

        Don't believe me?

Then here is an obnoxious link

        Triggered?

Say Hi to your mum for me

        Girl Power!

        The Wamen's win again!

        • +1

I'm just laughing how a woman said no to a woman and it's still a "patriarchal" problem.

So, let me get this straight…

A women, who campaigns for men's rights, tells a women, who campaigns for women’s rights, "no", so then some guy, who campaigns for women’s rights, got butt hurt and is going to do women's hair cuts for "free", essentially taking paid work away from women hair dressers…

          It's gone "full circle"…

        • +1

I think the refused wamen, went there knowing she would get refused, so she could report it to the Northern Territory Anti-Discrimination Commission and earn social media points.

And then a man, who also wanting to earn social media points and free publicity, gives away free hair cuts to wamen in SYDNEY, because a wamen was refused a haircut by a woman in DARWIN.

          But it's international Wamen's day y'all

    Bloody discriminating hipsters.

Sex discrimination to battle sex discrimination is still illegal.

    • When it comes to people who have enough hair to warrant a haircut, men are by far the minority.

I saw this deal and immediately knew the comments section would be awful. Not disappointed.

Well, disappointed. But I certainly got what I expected.

    • -1

I agree with you…my thoughts exactly

    • +5

      Awful?
Which comments do you think are 'awful', and why?

      • Which comments do you think are 'awful', and why?

As usual the SJW retreats to their safe place when asked to explain their logic. No clapping, it might trigger them.

  • -5

Women complaining they can go to a barber and then you have hair dressers giving only WOMEN free hair cuts……

    • +2

Women complaining they can go to a barber

Do you mean can or can't go to a barber

Not sure if u read the article

They are a unisex salon and they pull this?

Do they ever offer men free haircuts for a day?

    • -3

Maybe they pulled it for a reason?

      http://bfy.tw/GyVi

Hug your mum, wife or daughter mate.

      • Shouldn't you hug them every other day too?

I love my mother, wife and daughters so much and know I couldn't survive without them.

I don't celebrate Valentines or Mothers day though. Why? They are both so special they are celebrated every SINGLE day.

Womens day? Really? Everytime we need a special day for a basic human quality makes me realise how terrible some people are at being human or there is some sort of spin connected with money making for some organisation/industry.

Love women every single day! All.women are beautiful, in one way.or another (except smelly people *includes males)

        • It's a day to recognise for women achievements, is that too hard to understand?

Also my comment is sarcastically replying to those who neg note, which majority here is pretty piss poor excuse for negging.

I don't celebrate Valentines or Mothers day though. Why? They are both so special they are celebrated every SINGLE day.

But that's your choice mate, not theirs..Why are you controlling their choices? Plus Valentines day is celebrated by couples regardless of gender, many also choose not to celebrate it - however the amount of poor sod comments I'm seeing in this thread for one event just shows what a tin foil hat world some may live in.

        • I don't celebrate Valentines or Mothers day though. Why? They are both so special they are celebrated every SINGLE day.

But that's your choice mate, not theirs..Why are you controlling their choices?

Yeah, mate, why are you controlling their choices?

In the future, please confine yourself to celebrating and loving the women in your life to the designated days only.

  • +2

At least they let either sex into their salon, unlike some others who do not allow men to enter the premises:

    https://imgur.com/a/4tMKT

That's a photo I took of a local salon in my part of the world 2 years ago - I believe this exclusion is because of religious reasons but I'm not sure if its legally enforceable.

  • +4

I believe the principle has been set - "bake the cake!" Therefore, free haircut for all genders tomorrow!

I'm sure this hipster SJW business will understand once they have been informed of their own side's principles. Surely we don't live in a society of double standards.

    • +6

Mate, its nothing but double standards…
You're only racist if you're white
      You're only sexist if you're a man
      You're only ageist if you're under 40
Basically, if you dont agree with "them" on anything, then you're a bigot and the scum of the earth.

      • -5

Whats with triggered people on OzBargain recently?!?

        http://bfy.tw/GyVi

Maybe this is why they are giving out free haircuts tomorrow?

Say hi to your mum for me 😎

        • +3

Troll any harder? You have pasted this link all up and down the thread, even though you are wrong with the reason on why this particular hair dresser is making this offer.

For the record and science, I asked my mum, my wife and my daughter re: the actual reason for the free haircuts. (Nothing to do with “International Women’s Day”. Do your homework)

          Quotes:
Mum “what a load of rubbish, haven’t people got more pressing issues to worry about?”

Wife “I wouldn’t go to a men’s barber shop for a cut, I don’t see what the issue is.”

Daughter (who is 6) - “I would not have cut her hair. She wasn’t a man…”

The only one ”triggered” here, is you.

  • +8

Y'all know this is for International Women's Day tomorrow yes?

    • +1

I think we can all agree that it's definitely not for free publicity.

    • -2

Exactly, lol @ all the triggered men. Show some respect for women, hug your daughter, your mum, your Nanna and tell them about this OzBargain post…it's international women's Day tomorrow.

    • It seems more like International Feminists' day, judging by all the man hatred.

      • man hatred from who?

    • +1

Y'all know this is for International Women's Day tomorrow yes?

It's not for "International Women's Day".

      A quote from the website listed above states;

A unisex hair salon in Chippendale, Stanley & Co, is offering women free haircuts on tomorrow’s International Women’s Day in response to an incident yesterday of a woman being turned away from a men-only barber in Darwin.

      From the Stanley & Co Facebook page;

We read there are some jokers in Darwin who don't allow women in their barbershop. We think that's just plain mad and want to assure you the majority of barbers do not share their views.
To make good for their bad behaviour, we're giving free haircuts to as many wonderful women as we can…

      • +1

I can't wait to see what they do for World Consumer Rights Day on the 15th

  • Always see poster like men's haircut $15, women's $20, and wondering which would they charge you if you are a woman identify as a man or a man identify as a woman?

    • +1

What if you’re “gender fluid” and turn from one into another in the middle of your cut?

  • +3

This is the way I see it. Stanley & Co. are pulling this stunt as a marketing exercise and not an attempt to make right a wrong.

According to many media articles, this brew-haha erupted when a women went to a "barber shop" to get a haircut (Of unknown type). She was subsequently turned away from the barber shop by the owner, Joy Arnott, who is ALSO a woman. The owners reasoning is that she specialises in men's styling, not women's. My guess was the person that complained was a troll and was using this shop as a soap box to push some agenda, or had an axe to grind and not really a genuine customer that was turned away.

One does not simply fight discrimination with discrimination. If Stanley & Co really wanted to fight discrimination, they would be doing free haircuts for everyone, regardless of their chromosomes. Show inclusivity and not exclusivity. This is not a "women's issues" thing. It was a woman who said no to another women, it was not based on gender, but based on specialisation.

  • +2

If it isn't a publicity stunt then these guys have to go up for tossers of the year.
