Spend $50 on overpriced not so fresh fruit & veg.

    • Not to mention when they pick it, they really don't choose the best stuff. Would rather pay $10 more and pick it myself then let them give me the horrible stuff.

      • Sometimes the vegetables are cheaper in store also. Pak choy at my local is often $1 fresh. I got lazy and ordered online for $2.50: it turned up all yellow & wilted.

Their "fresh"fruit and veg is questionable at the best of times. Letting a disinterested person choose for you is worse. For example if I want 4 Royal Gala apples I regularly reject 4 or 5 before I find acceptable ones. I cannot see the aforementioned employee going to these lengths.

On the tv ad the employee looks very interested selecting the best fruit and veg for the customer 😀

Or go to your local Fruit and Veg and pay $25 for the same stuff

  • Bought pak choys from them just this week. It came all yellow and wilted. Ended up binning it. Best pickers my $%^&. This was the last straw. Have decided to switch to Coles online: hopefully, they'd do better.

Good luck - it's up to individual staff, stock & supervisors. Store should have binned those veggies days before, & never sent them. Not really a picker problem, more issue of poor stock control by fresh foods manager.

Have had more trouble with Coles than Woolies in my area.

When I complained that 1 Coles pick up order hadn't arrived in locker 30 minutes & rang again after pickup time, then only half arrived, staff member told me I had no right to complain & swore at me! Got $25 credit for next order after 3rd complaint that day… Supervisor listened to their recording & apologised.

Pity only recourse is to complain & get refund, which isn't helpful when you need item that day😠

      • Yeah. Am thinking they are much the same. I only used coles once during the black friday sale. Bought a few nappies at discount. They rang me and told me that they couldn't fulfill a box of nappies and refund me the store price of the box. So I figured at least they got their discount/refund policy right so I'll try them until they do something crappy like Woolworths.

Don't understand why the people who pick your groceries can't just ask themselves 'would I eat this?' before they put it in the bag and if not just give a refund, simple 😤

I could ring up and complain, but with a young baby I couldn't be bothered anymore (time = money/stress) unless it's big money.

Very poor form to swear at you. Hope they get just reprimand.

Of course, good deal though :)

        • Yes, complaining is a pain & should be unnecessary. However having worked as a staff trainer, I know how valuable honest feedback is.

Pickers are junior staff in my experience - who may not know what fresh pak choys should look like. But long past it veggies should never have been on the shelf of the "fresh food people", & with basic staff training they should know not to send you veggies that were not fresh!

Woolies has a policy of minimum length of storage life necessary when selecting produce (eg milk needs to be at least 3 days before expiry, from memory).

I add a note to picker with any item which may have limited shelf life - to pick the freshest.(eg Pak Choy must be green & crisp)

With Woolies, I always get more than I pay for with weighed items. It is more expensive to accurately weigh out a deli or pre-packed weighed item than give my usual 10-20% more. Once received 100% more (1kg) of expensive smoked salmon!
          Coles bill by packed weight😞

I never miss out financially when there is an error. But complaining & having to buy again is a pain.

Luckily problems are turned into refunds quickly in my experience with Coles / Woolworths & should be able to be done online. I have returned items to the store for a refund or exchange with no issue.

Coles took offensive behaviour by the new staff member seriously (if I go by the number of apologies I received - by phone & email).

Good luck with your future Ozbargainer👶

@Infidel: Haha. Thank you. Certainly hope she would not pay full price for most things!
