Is this good for running MS Office?
I always wonder what is at the top or middle of the bell curve of price to performance for cpu's nowadays.
Especially with the new generation Ryzen's I think you can build a pretty beastly build for pretty cheap with just maybe a GTX 1060 6gb or maybe GTX 1070.
I think the i3-8100 or a second generation ryzen is the new best performance to price before the curve gets skewed or you get less power per bucks but not quite sure.
I checked out the g4560 and while it is good I think the performance is really poor so it is more of a lesser lower budget cpu than the most price per performance.
CPU Mark Scores and CPU Prices
G4560 - $79 AUD - 4907
i3-8100 - $158 AUD - 8097
i7-8700K - $428.38 AUD - 16150TL;DR doesn't really matter just get the most fastest cpu and gpu and amount of ram and pick a psu that suits you but anything above a G4560 paired with a GTX 1050 and 8gb of ram should run fine
No one needs an i7 for gaming, that's like needing a Macbook for school. If you got anything i5 2500+ i'd save your money till graphics cards got cheaper. Unless you got cash for days.
I really want buy Ryzen probs for same reason people voted for Trump, to send a message to the "establishment". I'll probably end up regretting it as well but the main thing that's stopping me is that switching platforms now means buying a new mobo + ddr4 and I think for a new rig the miniumum is 16gb and that stuff is like a cool $80 more expensive than it used to be
Night!
I got nothing atm.. Just maybe an android tablet and a possible Windows 2 in 1 with an i5-4200U 4gb ram.. Yeah.. So surveying my options.
That sucks man. If you wait 6 months prices will probs drop so much that it would offset the cost of getting a 2nd hand xbox for $200~ right now ?
Given pricing at the moment the best bet is to buy used or keep an eye out for ebay deals on pre-built systems like some of the Dell deals that have been posted up here. If buying new components or looking at a pre-built I wouldn't go below a ryzen 1600 or i5 8400.
Some examples of past Dell deals here:

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/361033Bit of a funky colour scheme though.
@combatant: yeah, but second hand you can get some free games other than MineCraft
Color scheme is actually sick lol, and 1tb useful.
Kodi on Xbox again, and VLC, it's a really good value machine.Very true. 1tb is great, dont know if I'd call the colour scheme sick though. Lol. Plenty of associated bargains around for xbox. I stacked 8 months of free xbox game pass from another deal on here.
I was lucky to order one.
Good price on CPU. Too bad you have to pay through the nose for a GPU to complete your gaming rig. It's not an upgrade CPU since you need a new M/B for it.
