Dell New Inspiron Gaming Desktop AMD Ryzen 5 8GB RAM 128GB SSD AMD RX 570 4GB $1159.20 @ Dell eBay

150
PCTECH

Looks like a good deal for the price especially with ebay 20% off. The spec is nice except 8gb RAM but it should be sufficient if just some light gaming and browsing & streaming video. Local AU Dell warranty is a plus as they provide good supports. Only thing is the SSD only 128gb but I suppose you can always upgrade to 256gb in future when warranty period is ended.
Has anyone bought this before from Dell and is the internal PSU good enough?

  • Not bad, CPU and GPU are worth $700 alone.

  • Is the 570 better than 1060?

    • No, the 580 is comparable to the 1060 though.

This is probably a better deal tbh, its just $15 more but has better specs

One important thing to note that it doesn't include os. Cool looking case though.

    • You are comparing a generic PC to a Dell branded PC. I'm sure the Dell PC would be better even for warranty alone.

      • It's not really a generic PC considering all the parts and the case are from reputable brands too. I guess you could ask the about the part warranties though

EDIT: The Dell PC does not have better specs though, unless warranty is something you REALLY need, the other PC would be a better option

        • If I wanted to play games like PUBG, potentially VR etc. What would be a better system ?

        • @superezra:

The one that I linked would probably be better considering it has 1TB HDD + 256GB SDD (126 on Dell) as well as 16GB of RAM, where PUBG takes up 8GB on my system. From what I see, they both use the same CPU and GPU (probably using the AMD and not aftermarket GPU though).

On the flip side, the Dell PC comes with Windows 10 and Office trial. Also not sure if the one I linked has wifi out of the box (network cards can go from $10 - $80)

Would still rather pay more for the other one though tbh

Message me if you need more help, I can also help pick parts if you plan on building

        • @MadMarty:

I just wanted a pre-built one that would potentially be able to do VR and play PUBG. So was looking at this Dell or the one you linked.

I have Windows 10 on my Mac I can probably transfer so I don't care about that, just the machine.

        • @MadMarty:
Only comes with a Windows license. Office is a 30 day ? trial only

        • @Squeezy:

Ah cheers, must have skimmed over it

        • @superezra:

They should both be able to run PUBG at around 70-80 fps on med-high

I would go with the one I linked though mainly due to the RAM which can cause issues with PUBG

        • @MadMarty:

And if I wanted better performance for gaming in the future, do I just look into more ram + a better gfx card?

        • @superezra:

Yep, although some games will rely on CPU so keep that in mind

        • @MadMarty:

Is this CPU viable for future?

        • @superezra:

The CPU is generally what lasts the longest in the system. The ryzen 5 is the equivalent of an i5 to put things into perspective. This particular model is usually overclocked to get more out of the CPU, although if you do need to OC keep in mind you may need to replace the fan

        • @MadMarty:

So if I wanted future proof I'd probably go for a Ryzen 7

        • @superezra:

Yes, but honestly since you're only playing games, they ryzen 5 should be more than enough.

If you start playing heavy VR games then maybe ryzen 7 is something to consider

          @superezra:
The good thing about Ryzen is that upgrading is simply just popping a new cpu in the existing motherboard, AMD is planning on supporting the same socket for another few years at least. Intel changes the socket more often so future upgrades could work out to be a lot more expensive if you need a new motherboard. Ryzen 5 1600 is one of the best buys currently for gaming.

        • @papercutter:

Oh so if I buy this, upgrading will be easy as popping it out and inserting a new one?

        • @superezra:
Yep! Not quite as easy as putting ram in as the cooler can be mechanically baffling, but once you figure that out the actual upgrade is just buying whatever new flashy cpu AMD releases and installing it.

        • @papercutter:

          dam.. it's sold out :(

Happy with mine I bought in the deal just before xmas, also bought a 144Hz freesync 1080p monitor to pair with it. Plays all games I throw at it on high or ultra (including PUBG & BF1) - NB: also threw in an extra stick of RAM
