  • Can I buy Kogan gift cards with this e-voucher?

    • As long as Kogan gift cards are in the online store you can do it.

    • +1

This is for Woolworths ONLINE, so no.

"The value of the eVoucher cannot be used on Woolworths Flowers, delivery charges and Delivery Saver items, tobacco/smoking products, gift cards, egift cards, mobile recharge products, mobile phones and products, Woolworths Mobile products, travel cards and tickets."

    • Looks like not, there is no voucher or coupon payment option on wws gift card site.

I might have missed this above but is available until 20 February

My bad, I misread the T&C's as the deal running until the 31st of March. Have updated the expiry date of this post.

  • +34

    $20 off $170 = 11.8% off
    $40 off $240 = 16.7% off
    $50 off $350 = 14.3% off

    • +7

Gah, I was 3 hours too late :P

      • +3

Yep a phew hours too late

  • +1

how do people manage to spend $350 in one purchase?

    • +2

some people have families or businesses

      • +3

Sadly they introduced this since a few deals ago in regards to business accouts.

The value of the eVoucher cannot be used on Woolworths Flowers, delivery charges and Delivery Saver items, tobacco/smoking products, gift cards, egift cards, mobile recharge products, mobile phones and products, Woolworths Mobile products, travel cards and tickets.
eVoucher cannot be used with a woolworths.com.au business account (i.e. an account with an ABN or Business Name).

Which I know can be circumvented however still annoying to have to sign up a new account.

        • In this context , what is a Delivery Saver Item?
          I have a 12month Delivery saver in effect ( $99 - already purchased ).

Does that mean that I can use it for home delivery???

        • @imnotarobotorami:
It means you can;t use it to buy a delivery saver 1 month, 6 months etc. You should be right for free delivery if you already have one.

    • +10

      i wonder too….
even for $170…i struggle with one full trolley of groceries.
a good deal but not so realistic for normal shoppers.

      • +8

You don't get much for $170 these days… I don't think a family would have too much trouble spending that much.

        • +5

Seems a little short sighted to think that spending $170 isn't realistic. I have a (young) family of 5 and our usual shop is over $200 which covers only just over a week - and is usually only about 3/4 of a trolley worth. Plenty of fresh fruit and veg and meat, along with other staples of nappies and washing detergents and it adds up real fast! I hate to think what it'll be when my young boys get bigger :(

        • +2

@SurprisedEwe: Luckily I live in an area with an abundance of fishmongers, butchers, fruit and veg shops so that reduces cost a little bit, but yeah it's easy to spend over $170 at woolies.

        • @SurprisedEwe: same number and with one daughter coeliac and the cost of trendy gluten free a full week shop easily exceeds $250.

    • +1

      LOR coffee capsules.

    • +7

      Alcohol

    • Just stock stuff, plus some meat and alcohol, and you can easily spend 350 in one purchase.

    • +1

booze & slabs of coke cans - heavy items that aren't really perishable, saves me having to lift & load them at the store, they can sit in the garage for a few months happily.

the last voucher was just before xmas time so i used it to get a heap of stuff we needed for family xmas lunch.

    • I easily do this, I get paid monthly so I usually do about $350-$400 online, then pick up fresh stuff to go with during the month as needed. This is with only 2 adult males in the house too.

    • +1

Buy stuff like laundry detergent, dish washer tablets, cat litter, shampoo/conditioner, stockings for wife, oil, bags of rice - just gotta make sure it is sealed properly

    • +1

      Bikies

    • The $240 voucher is the best value anyway but $300+ is quite normal for a family of 5 with 1 dog & 2 cats! We'd spend $300-$400 on our big fortnightly shop as well as $40 - $60 a few times a week for milk, bread etc.

  • +2

Try BDAY17 if it works for anyone - $50 minimum

These kinda kill the deal :/

And it needs to be HIGHLIGHTED in flashing Text with a triple check when you follow through the link.
I have no idea how Consumer Law can accept these conditions in Australia!

      • +1

so bold isn't clear enough for you?

        • +4

          No, not really..
I'm not saying it's a bad post, it's the borderline fraudulent Terms and Conditions that I'm upset about.

        • +2

Coles in the username.. Alert! Alert!

    • I wonder what happens if you order and they are out of stock. Both times I've ordered online there were a few items out of stock and they refunded me.

What happens when you pay with this voucher??

      • +3

You get refunded with another online only voucher, but if you call up they can convert the voucher to an egift card you can use in store.

      • +1

If i recall, they give you another voucher to the amount of the "refund".

THat reminds me to ask them for a money back refund. The problem is you can only use one of these vouchers per online purchase. So if the refund is for a small amount of $20 or less, that makes it useless as the delivery fee would cost more than the goods.

      • +3

I would recommend that you pay the majority of the checkout amount with the gift card and add $20 or so worth of items and pay that with a card. That way if they must refund you, the refund will go straight back to your card or paypal etc.

        • It doesn’t always work that way. They tend to look at the ratio of payment (voucher:PayPal) and refund in a similar ratio. That’s how it’s always been for me in the past anyway.

        • @virgo16:

Woolies "may" have a system for how they issue refunds, that doesnt mean Australian law doesnt give us (consumers) rights.

As the fragment of text says below returning a credit note which is equiv to a woolies coupon is ILLEGAL.

          https://www.accc.gov.au/business/treating-customers-fairly/c…

          Refunds and returns signs
Signs that state ‘No refunds’ are unlawful.

The following signs are also unlawful:

          ‘No refunds on sale items’
‘Exchange or credit note only for the return of sale items’.

        • @ninetyNineCents: I didn’t say anything about legal/illegal or right/wrong. I didn’t give my opinion of it either. Just telling you what’s happened to me in the past.

  • +1

    thanks

  • Thanks So much! Does anyone know if you can use eBay gift cards to buy these vouchers?

    • Yeah it works just used mine.
Now I wish I’d bought more last week.

      • Thanks, oh man me too

  • +1

The text mentions the vouchers must be used before 31/3, however the gov updated that all gift cards must have a min period of 3 years. I wonder if they (W) can enforce an end period of 31/3…

    • eVouchers may be redeemed for orders placed on woolworths.com.au from 10:00 AEDT 07/02/2018 to 23:59 AEDT 31/03/2018 (the “Promotional Period”). eVouchers cannot be used in-store at Woolworths
    • At the end of the Promotional Period, any unused credit attached to a eVoucher will be forfeited and will not be able to be used for a further transaction.

Im thinking this is bullshit, aka the new gift card law, with a min period of 3 years.

      • My kung fu was be shite i cant find a gov site mentioning the 3 years for gift cards, but i found plenty of refs.

THe first link is dated before the law.. lazy gov site should mention this is now law…

        https://www.nsw.gov.au/news-and-events/news/three-year-expir…

Under new reforms, all gift cards sold in NSW would be valid for a minimum of three years.

        https://naomisimson.com/nsw-3-year-expiry-gift-cards-legisla…

RedBalloon’s 3-year gift cards in Australia & NZ

This change could be tough on our experience providers who already hold their pricing and the specific experiences offered, for 12 months. Three years is just too long. So, for customers who hold a specific experience voucher purchased from 18 October 2017, if the voucher is used before reaching that first 12-month mark, nothing will change. If the voucher moves into the next 24 month period, we will simply convert the experience voucher value into credit to be redeemed on anything on the site.

        • The ebay posting says "Please note this is not a gift card or egift card offer."

        • +1

          @cambam2:

Of course it is, how is this not a gift card ? The gov text mentions gift cards or similar.

A gift card is a card issued by a company that contains credit. Colours, text, namse etc may change, but in the end this is a gift card.

        • @cambam2:

Funnily enough ebay agrees with me, as you cant use the PICK5 discount code, which doesnt work on gift cards.

        • @ninetyNineCents: it’s a voucher code that you’re paying for, not a gift card or e gift card.

        • @virgo16:

You didnt read what i said. Ebay is denying the PICK5 code to these woolies vouches codes because they are gift cards. Ebay themselves say they are gift cards. There is no difference between these and any other gift card that you could purchase from another retailer.

        • @ninetyNineCents: my comment was supposed to go to reply to your first comment. They actually are different. eBay is a bit contradictory I guess. They should say not valid for gift cards or voucher codes.

        • @virgo16:

If ebay listed the name of every single gift card as used by the retailer the list would be very long and it would be a pain to maintain it. Some human would have to update the list every time any of the items withi nit was modified.

Everybody nows Woolies voucher coupon codes are gift cards by another name. Its unnecessary to list all forms.

        • No, I wouldn’t say everybody KNOWS. They’re actually totally different. They are single use codes with unused credit forfeited. They are redeemed totally different to Woolworths gift cards or e-gift cards. Have you ever bought/used one? Woolworths has done the right thing to tell customers they are not the same!
I don’t even know what your point is anymore - you’ve got 3 arguments going on against the government, Woolworths and eBay.
In my opinion eBay is in the wrong as they haven’t honoured the terms and conditions of the PICK5 code. “Purchases of items listed in the following categories are excluded from this offer: Coins (11116), Services (316), Cars, Bikes, Boats (9800), Tickets, Travel (11,730), Other Lots More Items (88433) and Gift Cards (172,009).”
The Woolworths voucher is ‘Alcohol and food’ category. Not ‘gift cards’.
Expiring 31/3 is fine. It’s like a video ezy kiosk code..should they have 3 years too because of this government ‘law’?
Stop arguing things you don’t know enough about.
          Have a good weekend.

        • @virgo16

V: Have you ever bought/used one? Woolworths has done the right thing to tell customers they are not the same!

          99: Yes

V: Expiring 31/3 is fine. It’s like a video ezy kiosk code..should they have 3 years too because of this government ‘law’?

99: well in case you didnt realise the law comes before any nonsense retailers may right down.

Im not familiar with Ezy Kiosk codes but if you paid money for them they are a type of gift card.

      http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/Factsheet_print/About_us/L…

The NSW Government has introduced a mandatory
minimum expiry period of 3 years for gift cards and gift
vouchers sold to a consumer in NSW, as well as a ban
      on post-purchase administration fees

      • +1

        When will the changes commence?
The reforms will start on 31 March 2018.

Will there be a transitional period?
Yes, there will be a transitional period of some months
        from 31 March 2018.

        • Fair point, other webpages i read mention other dates, lets hope ACCC got it right.

        • +1

Thanks great info. I remembered hearing about this a while ago and was very surprised that new giftcards I was buying only had a 1 year validity period.

On the positive side, I expect that there should be some good gift card deals coming up as merchants try to lock into the old rules.

  • nice mate… just missed it as i went to woolies yesterday for shopping..

    • +1

      Never going back?

    • A maximum of three eVouchers are able to be purchased per eBay account.

If I bought 3 of these during the deal at Christmas, I wonder if this term applies?

    • +2

THis is a new deal so past purchases shouldnt count.

      • I thought so. Thanks

  • Totally not worth it if you want to take advantage of other discounts for free delivery etc. Got a couple before Christmas with that promo and basically lost ability to use a lot of other deals at same time which made the initial discount pointless.

    • Would be worth it if you could use the PICK5 discount code but it doesn’t work for gift cards - seems like they classify it as a gift card but with a 3 month expiry- isn’t that not allowed?

  • +2

    Single use is a bastard.

    • Please refer to my comment below for tackling the single use problem.

  • thought it was got e gift card

  • 5% off Woollie GC to buy 3 $100 eBay GCs, then buy a $350 voucher, boozes are much cheaper this way…

You could make your own in your bathtub and toilet…

  • Thanks, bought one

  • single use kills it this deal

  • +3

Be warned- the last order I made with this deal they didn't have stock of some of my items and they refunded me with store credit but I had to make another online order with a minimum spend of $50 to spend that credit.

    • You should ask for a cash refund and mention the ACCC if they dont. I have a few $5-$10 "coupons" from them and will be asking for cash as well.

Signs that state ‘No refunds’ are unlawful.

The following signs are also unlawful:

      ‘No refunds on sale items’
‘Exchange or credit note only for the return of sale items’.
However, signs that state ‘No refunds will be given if you have simply changed your mind’ are acceptable.

    • For future reference, you can request an e-gift card instead of an online code it just takes a few days longer :)

  • +3

The $240 one will give you the biggest discount (16.67% off), buy anything total $240 online, bring the thing you don't want back to your local Woolie for refund. They will then refund you with a physical gift card. And that physical gift card can be multi-use for anything in-store/online.

    • That doesn't work if they are out of stock online and refund you with store credit that you can only spend online.

      • Easy. Buy only things that rarely run out of stock. You can always return all of them anyway. Get back the physical gift card, and you are free to buy anything you actually want instore/online.

      • +1

For future reference, you can request an e-gift card instead of an online code it just takes a few days longer :)

        • Unless the refund is under $5, then they refuse to give you a gift card & you're stuck with the online code :(

        • @headphonejack:

Do you mean over $5 or under?

        • @videoman: Under $5 - they can’t issue e-gift cards that are under $5 in value. I’m stuck with an online code for $1 with a min $30 spend, which is annoying because I rarely shop online.

  • +8

You can really do some serious stacking with this:

    • Let's say you bought $300 of eBay Gift cards from Woolworths, using 5% off discounted WISH eGift cards (which cost you $285).

    • Those $300 of eBay Gift cards would have given you 6,000 WW Rewards points, effectively taking another $30 off the cost (so now you're at a cost of $255 for $300 of eBay Gift cards).

    • You can now purchase a $350 eVoucher for Woolworths online with these eBay Gift cards (assuming the system allows this transaction to proceed of course).

    • This now calculates to paying $255 for $350 worth of "Woolworths Money" effectively.

    • That is a discount of $95, which is 27.14%. Not bad at all.

    • +1

Bonus points for Ebay gift card finished yesterday.

      • +1

Yes, that's why I used the past tense in my comment, as it was under the assumption that you had already bought the $300 of eBay Gift cards :)

    • I must be living under a rock. I didn't know that there are ebay vouchers in Wollies(not at my local place). I've been purchasing a lot of ebay goods lately.

  • +3

    Thanks, will come in handy.
