  • Dare I ask but just how good is a 5 buck gaming mouse?

    • I bought this mouse as a temp while I researched a better gaming mouse and it's quite decent. I would still be using it if I didn't get something better.

      • Agreed. It's a good mouse for the money.

      • Can you turn off the LED illuminatioin? And if so, how?

        • Nope

        • Damn. Does it stay on even with the PC powered off?

    • Thank you for your answer, I edit the post.

  • Bought one, keen to see what kind of mouse can be had for less than a fiver.

    • Can't be worse that the basic logitech or Ms mouse… I hope :P

Got 1 and will see how it goes… Hope delivery isn't over a month

I grabbed one from a previous deal for around ~$2.00 USD. Tested it for gaming and it's bad, but I guess you get what you pay for in that regard.

    Issues:
    1) DPI settings. It has 4 DPI settings, but you would never know what they are as the information is not available on the box or Gearbest website. I found a similar mouse on eBay (Brand: Beitas, Model X3) which indicated the following: 1600 / 2400 / 3200 / 5500. The mouse has a button to switch DPI but the only way to tell what setting you're actually on is to scroll through until you hit the lowest setting (i.e. the switch from 5500 -> to 1600. That's assuming those numbers are even correct).

    2) The laser is not able to identify rapid movements. If you move the mouse across your pad very quickly (which you often do for gaming) then it just freezes

I used it for about 2 weeks and then sold on Gumtree. Looks kinda cool and would be absolutely fine for the casual gamer / office user.

    • Thanks for the info. Wasn't expecting this to replace my gaming mouse but fits the bill for casual gamer/office work :)

    • There are wired mice for $5 (were on special for $2.50), and wireless from about $7 (were on special for $4) at Big W that I have a few of that are better than what you describe. The $4 wired ones from Office Works aren't terrible either. But they're all slightly less precise than a basic MS optical mouse.

This doesn't sound like much of a bargain.

A tip regarding rapid movement. I have MS mouse and keyboard that behave that way on my NUC. Alleviated with an extension USB cord between the receiver and the NUC (or just using a USB hub). Turns out the fault is that the NUC interferes with the signal at super close range. Depending on your hardware you may have a similar issue.

  • Thanks op. Paid US3.33 (AUD4.25)
