Just search ebay for kogan 50, plenty of other

Also noticed that the $10 referral bonus stacks too lol

The deal whereas the vouchers were on sale were until 31/01/2018. But the vouchers are good to be redeemed i think a month after it was sold but don't quote me on that.

        • No voucher expired 31/1.

        • Once the "Mobile plan activation vouchers" were purchased on that deal which has now expired, the codes ("mobile plan vouchers") are valid to ** 28th February. **

I transferred two of our prepaid mobile phones from Vodafone over to Kogan 365 day prepaid; one LARGE (16GB pm) and one SMALL (2 GB pm). Very fast process online. Kogan uses Vodafone facilities and we have had good reception with Vodafone.

@JediJan: Lol.. people are referring to two different vouchers and hence confusion.. 1) Kogan egift voucher ($50 off $120) and 2) actual mobile plan deal voucher to activate the plan.

eGift vouchers had 31 Jan expiry and not sure they have ones with expiry of Feb 28 available. For mobile plan activation voucher, you get a few days after you purchase it to activate the plan. It must be written in your voucher/email.

😂 I see I have thrown yet another spanner in the works! I am a little late to the party, so missed the fun. Thank you; have attempted to edit my response above. Unfortunately it looks a little worse lol!

When I purchased one 365 day prepaid mobile plan Kogan sent me 2 sim cards. Activation code came by way of email, specifying this code expires after 28th February. I used the spare sim card to change over another of our mobiles to Kogan.

          Cheers

Yes, so 'activation code' is voucher # 2 above in my explanation (some people call it voucher).

The spare SIM card you received is just a sales promotion I reckon - that way you may want to use it for another family member and may end up buying another plan. It's not a bad idea. It just costs a dollar afterall. :-)

        • @virhlpool:
Yes, my comment was about the Kogan sim card activation code /plan sign on expiry and not related to a Kogan gift voucher.

Yes, the extra sim card did come in very handy, when I compared the old 30 day Vodafone prepaid plan to the new (and reduced) 365 day Kogan mobile plan LARGE. Quite a saving even without any further Kogan Voucher discounts.

All our mobiles have different requirements, so are all on different plans; all unlimited talk / text, but different data GBs needed. My regular $40 red sim (free mobile but not the latest model) SG5 Vodafone postpaid plan contract expires in a few months, so will be looking around for a better deal for that too. I usually prefer a newer (free?) mobile as I use the NBN wifi for data 99% of the time. I wouldn't like to "pay" for a new mobile … if anyone would like to suggest a strategy for when my plan expires.

          @JediJan:

If you stack the numbers, you are often/mostly better off buying the mobile (typically Android) in the best deal and SIM only plan in the best deal (like how you bought Kogan plan) separately. If you calculate the expense for 24 months, separate deals bought this way come out to be much cheaper in total than the mobile plan with so called 'free' phone. Plus, you don't get stuck for 2 yrs. My 2c. See my calculations here.

Free phone + mobile plan: Let's say $45/month for 2 yr contract. Total expense = $1080

Phone only price: $500 will fetch you the same (as above) or better phone if bought in OzBargainer way + $20/month mobile plan (Kogan or any other cheap one depending on the deal) × 24 months = $740

Savings of $1080-$740=$340. Plus, more flexibility with your phone/plan choice, contract length, etc. In many cases you don't even need to enter a contract.

This is just a random example. It surely requires some research but ~$250-$300 savings is a decent reward.

        • @virhlpool: Correct, but if the provider deducts $5 off a plan and a further $5+ for the phone it is not so bad. Last time was a SG5 (was not on the “free” list 2 years ago, but I was difficult and didn’t like what was on offer… was long standing customer paying for 3 different plans) Depends how low they will go. Will have to see what happens in next few months. Was Low GBs (2 + 2 initially) but I tend to use the NBN wifi at home only. The RED plans can be bartered down if they ring you (well could be). But yes, I agree; these prepaid plans are far better. I prefer not to pay $800+ outright for another mobile though. I am expecting to buy yet another prepaid plan though; the days of post paid plans seem rather redundant.

You can if the expiry is Feb. I thought they release vouchers every month - I saw them selling with Dec 31 expiry and then Jan 31 expiry too.

      Kogan gift cards works?

      • +2

        Yes

      • +1

they do, i've bought a couple of gifts cards here in the classifieds section and applied it to the mobile plan.

        • +1

thanks…gonna try it next round of sales, currently have so many freaking Sims enough for more than 6 months. Got tired of port in/port out…

        • +1

          @apokalypsez:

Got tired of port in/port out…

There you go. Sometimes the time and energy/stress for searching a new deal every month, purchasing it, porting out, porting in, setting up new voicemail, (and probably closing old account, removing saved credit card) etc isn't worth $10-$15 savings every month.

Long term, cheap solution makes more sense even if it's not as cheap as what you can get by doing this monthly dance. It's pain.

        • i still have so many Voda sims and 6 boost along with Optus, i really want Kogan now. Indeed port in/port out is really cheap but tired….

going to try purchase with gift card for my cousin..

      • +1

Some comments above say 'yes' and some says 'no'. I am confused. I guess only one or two persons have said 'no' though.

        • +3

Tonyusq is just confused - he was trying to “stack” prepaid plan vouchers (ie. stack the days on top of his existing plan). What he is talking about is not really referred to as “stacking”, it is extending. This doesn’t work, as he discovered.

What everyone else is talking about is “stacking” e-gift vouchers (ie. discount coupons). These are the discount vouchers/coupons that you use to buy the prepaid plan vouchers (the code for the actual pre-paid phone plan). There is a $20 one and a $30 one, which people are stacking on top of the discounted sale. Stacking discounts is what people refer to as “stacking”, and this DOES work.

(And dfk367 was just asking the question, because of changes to the description, not actually saying it doesn’t work.)

  • the small plan has been here for ages. I know this because i got it when the kogan cards were 15% off on ebay with the $5 for Unlimited 23GB first month for new customers.

  • In what step do I put my voucher in? Only seems to have credit card option when paying. Thanks

  • +1

Guys there is an expiry on the deal in terms of when you have to buy before and a voucher expiry of when you need to activate it by. If you activate before expiry will you get the bonus data? Or does it have to be activated soon (like optus in next few days). I've got an optus $40 sim for $10 that I was going to activate tomorrow for the extra data and use for the month then port to kogan. Kogan also have the 23gb for $7.90 in this "sale" and it would be better if the double data on the 16gb plan ended before the voucher expired. Any insights???

  • Is there a physical store where you can buy Kogan sim?
Need a sim today and can't wait for it to ship from kogan.com.au.

    Regards

    • +1

Where abouts in Melbourne are you? They ship 2 sims to every customer, so potentially you could find someone close to you that could give you their spare sim.

(I had my spare sim at work yesterday, which I could have given you, but I gave it to my brother last night so he didn't have to wait for his to be delivered. Sorry!)

      • I am in Balwyn during business hours and Mill Park after hours

        • +2

Hopefully there is another ozbargainer out that way that can help you out. Good luck!

    • We received our sim cards (used both) only 2 days after paying. If you cannot pick up one today Just buy a cheap recharge/top up from somewhere to see you over a couple of days. If you have just run out of prepaid credit people should still be able to contact you okay.

  • New to OzBaegain but have been lurking for a few months, after many years I have decided to ditch Aldi Mobile, I only use their service and recharge $15 every few months. Saw this deal 365 @152.00 and could not pass up, $10 referral and $50 voucher from eBay total comes down to $100.85 = approx $8.404 per month. Hopefully Vodafone network is up to par with Telstra at least I hope.

    • We have been with Vodafone since they took over from 3 and have had no problems at all. Others have though so it would have been best to do your homework first. (There are coverage maps on websites to check also).

One area I recall beng advised as having serious problems is north-western Sydney.

We are in Melbourne and have no problems here in city areas, outer suburbia, or the Gold Coast, south-eastern Gippsland towns, in the mountains (east and south-east Melb) or Murray River towns.

  • $50 gift card/voucher works great..basically 9.75 each month
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kogan-50-Off-120-Spend-Voucher-W…

  • So.. If I move from Telstra (current one) to this. I will be able to switch my current number across right?

My question is. When they say "new customers only", does that mean, if I create a new account for a future deal, will I not be able to use the same number I have for that?
IF I move to Kogan now and then they have a deal for new customers only in the future, how can I benefit from a future deal without losing current number?

Can someone please shed some light on this for me? :D

    • +1

Yes; if you transfer your Telstra number over to Kogan it is a "new" Kogan account.

I assume new future deals will again be for "new accounts only" so if you transfer your mobile number to make a "new" Kogan account now, you will not be able to transfer that number to qualify for yet another "new" deal, as you would be an established customer then. Nothing stopping you opening another "new" account now, but can only transfer that mobile number once to Kogan to qualify for new deals.

Then again, if you transfer the number to Kogan now, then transfer it to another company after, perhaps it is possible to transfer it back again, at a later stage, to Kogan to qualify as "new" again. I think you best ring them first though, as that would not be their intention when they set up these "new" offers.

As your primary concern is not losing your mobile number then perhaps it would be better not to transfer the number over to Kogan now. There is no guarantee that future deals will offer anything better though.

During the activation stage you are asked if you already have four mobile phone accounts current, so it appears that five may be the maximum. See the online activation process.

We have been using Vodafone (Kogan uses Vodafone facilities) without any problems for years. As you are used to Telstra coverage I would suggest you check same for Vodafone.

      • +1

That answers my question! Thanks JJ!

I will have to port out and then port in in the future. I waste a lot of money on credit so I am trying to be better lol. LEt see how I go this year!

  • Damn, just checked and the Kogan Mobile Prepaid Voucher Code: SMALL (365 Days | 2GB Per 30 Days) $152.10 is sold out

    • -1

Did not expect that deal would be sold out early. Unusual I would think; they did say available until the 12th. The reduced deals for the 365 days Medium, Large and Extra Large have ceased now also.

  • Heya, I order a sim off you guys, KOGAN, last bargain ~3-4 weeks ago, paid for and confirmed and all, but I never received it. What should I do now?

    • +1

Have you tried emailing Kogan and asking them if they will ship out a replacement SIM?.

  • So, I'm new to this Sim porting method. I just got a Kogan sim, I ported from Lebara and activated this offer. It will expire on 9th March now. Is it possible to buy 2 of these vouchers? Then when it expires on 9th March, I port into lebara or whichever sim I have then port back into the additional Kogan sim I received and apply the voucher?

    How does it work?

  • -1

Wait so can i Make use of this Deal or not ?

  • Can anyone give me a heads up on how to Qualify as a new customer. I have 10 Kogan Sim Cards but no other provider sim cards.
Is it possible to register a new email with the new sim card and port over my Kogan Number from the other Kogan Sim Card to the new Sim Card and be qualified as a new customer to be eligble for the coupon?

  • Received terrible service having my number ported to Kogan. I was lied to twice and was promised a call back several times without them actually doing it. Here I am 5 days later my number has been taken. I am uncontactable and am required to wait on the phone for 30 minutes at a time only for a mumbai call centre to lie to me again.

Take my advice and DO NOT use this company
