Vodafone is continuing to surprise me. I just love their ultra-fast 4g+ network, and now for students they have 20% off their already discounted plans (earlier it was 10%).
That brings the monthly bill to quite a competitive rate.
I am personally after 50GB for 48$/month.
Have fun.

  • That’s a solid amount of data

    • yes! and I am spellbound by the network speeds! changed from Virgin and never going back!

      • I am currently trying to get off of them as I've hd a horrendous run with them. Great to hear you've had much better luck, and it seems like a pretty decent deal, however network issues, empty promises and terrible service are not worth it to me. Thanks my personal experience though.

        • They do have the "30 Day Network Satisfaction Guarantee" right? So for new customer, its an opportunity to try out their network? And there is a bonus 5gb data for first month to really test the speeds …

        • @LurvinOZB: I've been there customer for a long time and forgiven them and 'given them another go' I'm currently stuck on a 24 month contract with about 12 months to go. I told them the network wasn't great they said they promise that it's just the fixing of towers and it'll work soon. When I tried to get off it was a lot of back and forth and I was transferred from one department to another and was on the phone was ages. So I ended up hanging up, once my contract is over I can finally leave.

        • @pyro love bird: ahhh got it. thinking of moving my service from aldimobile to this offer. seems good.

i think the reception mileage really varies from places to places. aldimobile is on telstra (albeit the limited network) but still we have got another optus line and its getting better mobile reception than the omnipotent telstra.

hoping if the reception is shit, i can take up their 30 day guarantee and port out again.

        • @LurvinOZB: you've got to remember that on Aldi, kogan etc, you're not using the full telstra/optus network so I'm not surprised. I really miss 3, it was incredible network coverage, great customer service at really affordable prices, plus loyalty was rewarded.

    • What do people do with 50GB of data on their phones?

      • +4

Hotspot at work so your boss can't see every time u refresh ozbargain.

      • Having gone from 1.5Gb of data to unlimited, it's such a quality of life thing being able to use my phone like I would at home, while on the train home from work. While 50Gb is unnecessary, not having to worry about data is one of life's greatest luxuries.

        • I agree. how do u get unlimited data?

        • @Bellpop: Work paid for the phone and the plan, they don't care if I go over data

  • Don't get too excited. I saw this ad while I was in the shops and got excited too. Eyeing on the $40 for 15gb and found out you only get 10% off of it. :(

My experience with Vodafone over the last 12 months is that it is incredibly fast for data

  • Your move Kogan mobile

  • Changed my plan to the $60 / 20GB
a month sim only data plan. Student discount of 20% comes down to $48/month,plus bonus 32GB data per month = total 52GB of data to use per month. Awesome deal. Hooray for more data!

    • does the bonus data stay on after the contract?

      • Good question. Assuming it would. But by the time the contract is up there will be better plans. From the Vodafone website: "Early Exit Fee: $30 x months left on contract. After 12 month term is exhausted, voice plans will continue on month to month terms until such time as you notify that you wish to cancel."

      • Just did an online chat. The bonus data remains even after the contract has finished. It doesn't change until you change the plan (or Vodafone withdraws the offer)

  • Don't forget if you cancel before 12 months "$30 x months remaining on your contract. Max fee payable is $360"

  • Are you referring to the below:

$42.50 (based on 15% student discount) for $50 SIM Only Global Plan – 12 months
Incl 30gb, 200 mins to selected countries, 1000 mins to eligible countries

$48.00 (based on 20% student discount) for $60 SIM Only Global Plan – 12 months
Incl 50gb, 300 mins to selected countries, 1000 mins to eligible countries

I couldnt find the $40 plan you are referring to.

And its a 12 months contract, month to month.

hmmm .. $5.50 difference and you get 20gb extra per month with 100 additional mins to selected countries. Sounds good. The $5/day roaming feature is awesome!

  • 1000 minutes to "eligible countries"?

Glad I've still got my infinite minutes!

  • +1

Gonna grab this for my gf, plus I have a mate that works at voda so extra $10 off a month. How good. Ridiculously fast network speeds too, 90 up 6 down.

    • Do you mean 90 down 6 up?

      • Indeed I do lol whoops

  • Guys,
