Black Ridge SILENT Compressor

If you use the Entertainment Book to buy SCA gift vouchers you can get another 10% off but you need to get SCA to consolidate all the vouchers into one to use online. Cashrewards is offering another 2%, so it can all stack to around $166.

If you're in the market for an air compressor that won't deafen you or the neighbours, and doesn't need a high flow rate (so spray painters can definitely rule this one out), this one is awesome. I have been using the same model for some months now for nail guns, air cleaning, and tyre inflation duties and it is great. How quiet is a "silent" compressor? You don't need hearing protection when the motor kicks in, you can easily have a normal conversation standing right next to it. It can be on next to the neighbour's window at night and I doubt they would complain. Your clothes washing machine is probably louder, and your clothes dryer is definitely louder.

If you buy a "silent" compressor from Sydney Tools, it will cost you around $400+ (granted it has an aluminium tank and other features), but it is hard to find anywhere else with silent compressors in a bricks and mortar store.

Regular non silent compressors with similar specs (direct drive, 21L tank, 1.5HP-2HP) tend to range from $100 to $200. This one is only 1HP, but as it is quiet you probably don't mind it running a bit longer.

Hope this helps someone.

    Great description. Thank you

I wonder if this is compatible with the air gun kit sold at Aldi?

I like it a lot, but only think of using it for cleaning hard to reach places in the house. Wonder if it is worth spending $189 …

Usually most of these air accessories use the quick release nitto fittings. The Aldi compressors also use nitto couplings, so there is a very high chance that it is compatible.

Need to keep in mind that this compressor only has 50L/min free air delivery, quite low.

Once the tank is empty (which won't take long) it might struggle to provide enough pressure if you plan to blast things away for periods of time. Short bursts may be ok though.

OP says has been using one a while though, so guess they would know better than me :)

      • Absolutely on point - multiple medium bursts are OK. I have used it for cleaning dusty parts, drying bicycles after washing etc. But your mileage may vary depending on how much pressure you feel you need, how long the bursts, how long between bursts.

plus 20% off all store stock tomorrow (27th Jan)…

  • Does seem the 20% off is on full priced items only

  • Only 65 dB at 1 meter away. Two minutes and a half to fill up from empty.

    • It quotes 67dB at 3m away on the Supercheap site, but still quieter than most air compressors I guess.

  • Thanks OP, bought one.
