Hey guys, I got one of these when they launched late last year and it's a great smartwatch

Current Lightning Deal on Amazon (looks like just the white version is shipping to Australia) Price in title is by paying in USD with a fee free card (current market mastercard rate)

You can see some more of what it does on their website Ticwatch & a video here Video The S model normally sells for $253 even though they have a 20% off code at the moment this is still cheaper via Amazon…

You can make calls on the watch when it's paired with an Android device via bluetooth (i've recently got a Xiaomi Mi6) and it works great with that

Gogole assistant is handy as is Google maps & Spotify etc

Enjoy!

Looks great, if only it had NFC it'd be instabuy =)

    • I'm in the market for a new watch and this looks tempting. What is the usefulness of NFC on watch?

      • +2

        for android pay mainly

      • Use your watch to pay with it instead of card.

I use my phone atm to do that.

pity it's only the white that ships to AU

    • yeah tend to agree - i got the black and would have been good if that was included

  • This is pretty close to the kickstarter price. Worth getting

    • Yeah think the S was $119 - it's a great buy for what it does

  • How does this fair against huami Amazfit 2, which is marginally pricer?

    • You are spared from having to use the sometimes buggy Xiaomi companion app. That said Ticwatch S runs Android wear 2.0 as opposed to some in house operating system like Samsung's Tizen.

I never used the xiaomi watch before. but I would trust xiaomi company more than the one produce ticwatch. They are both chinese company by the way.

        • I've just received my Xiaomi Amazfit Pace and cannot believe it was $130 shipped from GearBest. The design, quality, speed and functionality are all on point. Xiaomi products are amazing for the coin.

@TravHall: I don’t understand why people use the term ‘on point’. From my understanding ‘on point’ is a military term, which means that you are the selected soldier in the squad who has to walk out ahead of the rest of the squad when on patrol. I fear it has been misappropriated by dump people on Facebook when they claim that their ‘squad is on point’ before a night of drinking, and it unfortunately has expanded into the wider vernacular because of this.

        • @Burnertoasty: "misappropriated by dump people" Dump people, such as hobos?

        • +3

@FabMan: Well I made my self look like a real dump person here.

          @Burnertoasty:

Ha, yeah, if you are going to mispell something it has to happen then doesn't it.

I'm sure I've heard it for years so checked, and it isn't new:

  • NFC, 3G/4G

Have you guys bought from https://au.mobvoi.com/ before? Really liked this one but I prefer the black version and their site and use that 20% coupon.

    • +2

Mobvoi are the maker - and yes i bought through them with a 20% black friday sale - black version is nice ;)

      • Nice, thanks! Did they take long to ship?

        • +1

There was a bit of a delay around pre-orders but that can be expected - now that they have all of that out of the way I think it would be pretty quick

        • +1

I ordered two weeks before Christmas, with free express shipping.

Unfortunately it took them over two weeks to fulfil the order, so didn't end up receiving it until more than a week after Christmas. Shipping time itself though would have been less than a week.

Can't speak to how good the watch is, bought it for my Father-in-law, but from my research, if you're looking below $200 it seems to be the pick of the bunch.

    • I received mine in less than a week! Shipped from NSW.

      • oh that's different. I ordered mine last night (ticwatch e) after that comment and it just got shipped from Hong Kong with a company called LandmarkGlobal. But, so far so good.

  • thanks OP, just bought the white version. would have liked to get the green or black but never mind, white still looks decent from the videos on YouTube

wondering how that gps works on the small 1.4 inch screen?

    • +2

Built-in GPS in watch is mainly used to track fitness activity, i.e. steps and distance, and it works well without a phone. If you want to use the watch for navigation, Google Maps app for Android Wear is available, but it won't work without your phone connected via bluetooth. Watch screen can display the map or turn-by-turn instructions. It can be quite useful in some situations (for example, when you're walking in less familiar places).

    • GPS in integrated in watch band in this model FYI

  • ended up ordering the ticwatch E in black direct from mobvoi

    • Works out cheaper than amazon s version $128 us or $160 au

nice recent review from Android authority - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zo_FntZZbJ8

  • I have a black S from the Kickstarter campaign. My third AW watch and I can say it's quite good. The only real fault I can give it after 3 months of use, is the lack of ambient light sensor to adjust the brightness. If you set the brightness too low, then take it outside it's difficult to see.

    • A lot of smartwatches don't have ambient light sensor so you aren't missing out too much.

      • I also have the sony smartwatch3 and the moto 360 sport and both have a light sensor. Only really useful for automatic brightness control, but helpful.

      • I also have the sony smartwatch3 and the moto 360 sport and both have a light sensor. Only really useful for automatic brightness control, but helpful.

  • I'm still rocking my Ticwatch 2 and I can't convince myself to upgrade to the newer model :(

    • Ticwatch 2 is a more solid build, but no Android Wear. S is mostly plastic.

  • +2

I have the E version. Bought 2 during 20% off deal at Xmas. Only thing missing is NFC. Also agree with gtr33m about the backlight. Not as bulky like other smartwatches. Android Wear is still evolving. This is good for a first smartwatch.

  • I was about to go but dropped as review was so bad on newer Ticwatch 2. Do I need to stick to E or S not newer one?

    • E & S are the newer ones released in late 2017 (Nov) Ticwatch & Ticwatch 2 superseded them in 2015 & 2016

  • Do any of these watches work well with apple?

    • +2

I use Ticwacth S with my iPhone.
Its fairly stable. Most of the really fancy features wont work of course, like calling and message reply. They work best with andriod OS.
My main reason for buying was for notification, and playing with watch faces.
My biggest issue is NOT getting a full day from one charge.
I have been playing with settings and different faces to try to get 6am - 1am power.
I want to have 'always-on' face not wait for the lag between flicking my wrist to see the time.
Still - I like the watch - It looks good and does 99% of what i want! Even on iPhone

  • It looks like my son’s Yokai Watch

  • Anyone know what happened to the xiaomi backed 3g/4g version?
