  • That would explain why I've been getting the 8 cent vouchers still…

by the way, i managed to get 14 cents off by combining the 8 cent voucher with the 4 cent Coles Mastercard voucher and a $2 in-store purchase…

    • jv! What a surprise! 14 cents isn't bad, is it. But have you noticed that the price of fuel over the past 6 weeks has been rather high? So is this discount really smoke and mirrors stuff?

      • yep, it's a con job… i think i filled up at about $1.32 yesterday…

        (I'm sure i'd seen it around $1.22 a couple of days earlier… maybe i imagined it…)

        • Saw it as low as $1.18 on Saturday.

        • I've been getting < $1.10 (E10) with the 12c discount in Melbourne consistently just by picking the days.

The price of fuel is creeping higher as the West Texas crude price is almost US$90/bbl. It was hovering around $82 a couple of weeks ago.

But what will inevitably happen is people will blame price rises on one of the following:

        1. 8c discount instead of 4c
        2. Greedy service stations cashing in on Christmas
        3. Greedy oil companies cashing in on Christmas
        4. Political party of their choice
  • Glad they extended this, although petrol seems to be really exxy these last few days… It never seems to come back down to the price it was before the price rose.. $1.32 p/l for E10?

For Sydney, the cheapest day was Friday last week. Also it looks like the troughs are rising.

It's different for each city so check it yourself.

"Also it looks like the troughs are rising."

Is there an iphone app for that ?

  • Here in Brisvegas cheap day is usually Wed/Thurs, so I went to fill up with my voucher and saw the price hadn't dropped one cent since the beginning of the week. Asked the staff why and he actually said they haven't been dropping the price due to the 8cent dicount promotion! And then I saw it drop down to around $1.18 on the Saturday. It's all over the place at the moment!

    • yeah that's so true i see it around $1.18@Caltex to $1.26

The full tank petrol saves me $4, not worth it

  • Amazing bit of spin by the oil companies; convincing people that they're getting a discount. You're not really getting 4c off by presenting the voucher, that's just charging you the normal price. You pay 4c MORE if you don't present the voucher, which means more profit for them.

"You’re not really getting 4c off by presenting the voucher, that’s just charging you the normal price. "

The other service stations are charging the same though, without a 4c voucher…

I always find my local Coles Express is 1 or 2 cents more expensive than 2 other petrol stations nearby (BP and Caltex) yet everyone seems to go to Coles. Go figure.

  • Woolworths has matched Coles' offer and is also doing 8c until the end of the month.

I'm loving the 8c discount. Currently LPG is around 60c/L here so that's a discount of over 13%.

  • coles make it look like a good deal but they also raised the petrol prices

    • Totally agree.
