Hi Guys

We are just clearing out some excess stock. I've just dropped the price down to its lowest possible level and also to take advantage of the 5% off promotion as well.

Great cheap office/home machine, as discussed many times and a 1050ti and you've got yourself a budget gaming PC.

These machines also have space for a second 3.5" HDD under the optical drive.

Quick Summary
HP Elite 8200
Core i7 2600 3.4GHz (4C/8T)
8GB RAM
500GB HDD
They have 7 Pro COA's but they are imaged with Windows 10 Pro.

About 70 Units Available.

        • sent you an ebay message with my username. please let me know if you got it.

  • I was going to grab one and use it as my Plex Media Server. Certainly would’ve been an upgrade from my Q8600.

  • How would these perform as a video editing suite for Adobe Premiere?

I imagine this would work fine with a GT 1050 TI, since Adobe supports NVidia Cuda hardware acceleration.

    • Integrated graphics is fine for video editing generally. Its not that demanding.

The addon cards are for 3D rendering.

  • 98.9% seller feedback though

    • +1

      isn't that very high??

      • rule of thumb is 99% minimum

        • really? why is that?

  • For anyone who knows their stuff - what determines how many desktop screens you can output too? Gfx card? In which case would this be able to do 2 screens or more on a setup?

Also for this price point is the lack of USB 3 a killer? Or is that to be expected at this price point? Orcan you get something for under $300 /closer to this $200 mark with usb 2 out there? as a budget computer setup?

  • Was looking to get more RAM for this would anyone know what model type I should look at?

  • given that this is a Win 10 upgrade from Win 7, how would you go about transferring the Windows licence after installing a new SSD?

    • +1

If you are installing Windows 10 on a computer which already had the same installed and activated then you don't need a key. You just have to click on "I don't have a product key" and proceed with the installation. Windows will get automatically activated online.
      https://www.howtogeek.com/244678/you-dont-need-a-product-key…

      • thanks for the information, but I'm still a little confused - how does MS validate the licence against the PC hardware?

Or does the licence remain Unactivated?

        • +1

I presume on first activation the license gets linked to the hardware (perhaps mobo) so re-installation does not require a key. I have done clean re-installation earlier on PCs upgraded from Windows 7 and 8.

        • After downloading the latest Win 10 Pro from Microsoft and burning it on a DVD, it took me just around 15 minutes to clean install on a new SSD (which automatically got activated with digital licence). No other HDD was connected.

  • just wondering - how does the HP compare to the Dell optiplex 990SFF - that they are also selling? For the same price of $219 is one superior to the other? Or are both similar in specs/performance?

    link: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/201682557281

Is there any cause for concern for the age of these refurbished SFF, or would 8 gb ram and a 2nd gen intel i7 be more than enough to handle a monitor rig and office/browsing capabilities etc?

am abit confused with dual monitor output - can someone clarify for a newbie? They have a $15 upgrade for the graphics card for dual monitor output? Is this required to hook two screens side by side up , or can you do one screen to VGA an done to DVI without the upgrade to the graphics card?

are there any more recent/future proof SFF, say circa 2014,2015?? or are these optiplex and hp's decent staples despite being 2011 era?

    • you can connect one to display port and one to VGA port without any upgrades

      • Ok. So only reason to upgrade would be to keep one display port free and run two monitors to the one vga port right??

Any thoughts on that dell and how it compares to the hp per this original listing?

        • I think the "Dual Monitor" upgrade is dvi, but no specs given. forget about it.

thoughts on that dell and how it compares to the hp

Same CPU etc. Nicer form-factor on the Dell.

If you want dual-monitor, I'd get the newer 9010 model (or 9020), which has dual display port.

  • +1

Just received, connected to monitor through DP-DVI connector, Win Pro 1709 installed and activated (digital license), only other software installed seems to be Ninite bundle, 8GB RAM (3 slots occupied), empty space for SSD under DVD drive, CPU fan seemed a bit noisy with the cover removed. Just had a cursory look so can't say more at this stage. Would like to know others' experience with it.

    • Same. Mine is a bit banged about with a scratch and one foot pad missing.

Technical Reference Guide for HP Compaq 8200 Elite Series Business PCs: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02778024

Found this on RAM and dual monitor:

"These systems implement a dual-channel Double Data Rate (DDR3) memory architecture. All models support DDR3 1333-MHz (PC3-10600) and 1066-MHz (PC3-8500) memory modules. The CMT, MT, and SFF form factors provide four UDIMM sockets and support a maximum of 16 gigabytes of memory." p2-7

"All systems include a legacy analog video (VGA) connector and a DisplayPort connector and support dual monitor operation. The DisplayPort includes a multimode feature that allows a VGA, DVI, or HDMI adapter to be connected to the DisplayPort." p2-9

"HP recommends using symmetrical loading (same-capacity, same-speed modules across both channels) to achieve optimum performance. … Memory amounts over 3 GB may not be fully accessible with 32-bit operating systems due to system resource requirements. Addressing memory above 4 GB requires a 64-bit operating system." p3-5

Need at least an 8GB drive for a Windows 10 recovery USB drive which it wipes. There has to be a better way these days.

First time I've seen low profile PCI slots which are a PITA for my wifi and usb3 cards. I'm thinking of taking a dremel to them.

I'm still not clear if I can reload the Win7Pro64 licence.

      • In fact mine had two foot pads missing. There are few other issues too but the computer seems to be working fine.

You can disconnect the existing hdd and connect those cables to ssd and clean install win10 (as I mentioned above). It should all be fine but in case of a problem just put back the hdd. Another way, of course, is to clone the hdd to ssd but that kind of effort is totally unnecessary in my view.

I have seen and downloaded that guide a couple of days ago. Page 2-3 has some important info for people who want to add a GPU. There is only one PCIe port which is truly 2.0 x16 (the black one) whereas the other similar port (white) is actually wired as 2.0 x4. Also, a max of 25V has been specified for the PCIe port so it may be difficult to attach too many monitors to a GPU like 1050 Ti LP, which seems to otherwise work fine for games: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKIxgtztoGk

One can start by updating the BIOS to J01v2.28, as I did, but that is a risky business meant only for daring people (like me!): https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Boot-and-Lockup/Lookin…

        • I mean, the PCIe 2.0 x16 port is rated 25W max whereas 1050 Ti card goes up to 75W.

  • You probably won't get a HP USB 3.0 4-port SuperSpeed PCIe x1 Card: http://www8.hp.com/au/en/products/oas/product-detail.html?oi… Note low profile bracket and the SATA to SATA split power extension cable. Don't get a USB 3 card card without a power connection.

wifi is probably best done with a dongle.

  • hi there - how responsive are you guys on ebay? I've sent a message a week ago a follow up a few days ago, however no response. Have received one with a faulty power supply fan it seems (does not spin), and looking at the quality of the fan… it's brown and full of dust - may have been missed and not refurbished?
