Looks like this is Sydney only?

    • No, looks like Adelaide too, but only 2 restaurants, and not every night either. Sigh…

      • +1

Max of 9 restaurants showing up for me on a weekday.

        • Ah I see… they've added more restaurants…

      • only two if you choose a Saturday or Sunday night. Otherwise some decent options, i had a very good but pricey dinner at La Boca the other night so will give them a revisit

  • +6

Wow the selection certainly is… "Selected"

    • They added more restaurant selection gradually last time they ran this offer. Check after a week and you might find more selection available

  • +2

    Eagerly awaiting Melbourne.

  • +1

  • woohoo

  • At least it’s not 18% off…

  • +1

    Melbourne Link not working

  • +2

Melbourne has had these going for months now - Im getting sick of Lindos and the remainder are not great

    • Lona in St Kilda are pretty good, they usually have 50% off on Wednesdays

      • Be careful where you sit - near the kitchen smells like oil!

  • +2

Perth's Deen Street BBQ is under Half Price tab and offering 25% off….but once you click on the book now additional 50% lunch options appear.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Just booked a place in Queensland. On holidays right now so a good option for us.

    • +2

Definitely recommend the French Martini in Brisbane. We just had the escargot, a prawn Bisque and the steak tartare (very large serving for me) and the wife had the fish of the day (Barramundi). All the food was excellent and I’m considering going back.
Total cost with $9 mineral water was $96 but was halved to $48. The waitress mentioned that I was the only one to book the deal tonight.

  • +3

It would be great if they could advise when you booked whether the 50% would apply to only select menu items. I went to Ananas in Sydney last time this promotion was on and the menu was heavily reduced

    • +1

Agree. Had similar experience with Kobe Jones Sydney

    • Yep, we did a three course at Short Black and at the checkout they said discount was only on the main.

      • Did you report them to Dimmi? I would if it said 50% off food and not 50% off a main.

        • +1

No, but I shall next time. Runya's didn't say that either, but I pointed out that no where did it say mains only, and they let me have it. It appears restaurants have their own T&Cs…

    • Meat and wine co is 50% off the four course degustation only

    • Similar happened to me.

The promotion said 50% off food but on arrival we were given a separate menu for people who had booked the deal on Dimmi. There was only one option (3 course degustation) and it was much more expensive than the normal menu; we we’re forced to spend double what we would have.

I complained to Dimmi and they said stiff, each restaurant has their own T&Cs and sent me a link to a page that you can’t review when making the booking. Have been reluctant to use Dimmi ever since, the response was particularly snarky.

Didn’t name the restaurant as it’s permanently closed.

First Table is always worth a look too.

  • Can you stack this with anything else? E.g. Entertainment Book or the vouchers that you can buy (goodfood?)?

    • Typically, no.

      • Have stacked with good food AND citibank (free wine)… amazing ;)

  • +1

There's quite a lot of Sydney restaurants. Good offer.

  • +1

From past experience, it's may not be a flat 50% off all food.

A couple of the Sydney ones for example say "50% off 3 course degustation" above the available times (but then annoyingly the price of the 3 course degustation isn't listed anywhere). You should probably confirm with the restaurant or Dimmi to avoid any surprises.

    • Agreed - Hunter and Barrel does exactly this - listed on the 50% off food page, then changes to say "50% off 3 course degustation" (sneaky), and I cannot for the life of me work out how much the "3 course degustation" is as it's not listed anywhere on their web site (double sneaky).

      • +1

I noticed this too, but when I clicked through to book, at the bottom it states:

Get 50% off your our 3 Course Sharing Degustation with cocktails (Normally $81.50 per person)!

        So I guess it's $40.75pp..

        • +1

Went last night. Here's the menu: https://imgur.com/a/oJT0P. It was a lot of food but not worth ~$80 p/p IMHO in terms of quality. ~$40 p/p made it much more palatable. Entree was good. Meat was so so — pork was unfortunately overcooked & dry. Beef + sausage well cooked! Dessert was very average & way too much. Wasn't a fan of the drink!

        • @fault: Thanks! That menu actually sounds more appealing than I thought it would :)

  • quite a few offers for Sydney. Which restaurant is to take a bumble date to?

    • +1

As if Harvey Specter is using Dimmi.

      • A Dollar Saved is Better than a Dollar Earned

    • Ripples and Bathers Pavilion.

      • Thanks, I was just looking at Ripples and it seems it has the best value. You can pretty much walk out with a bill under $50 for 2 people. It's BYO aswell so I would personally bring a nice bottle of wine/champagne and pay the $12 corkage so I don't look like a cheap eat from the other diners.

For Bathers you're looking at the minimum spend of $100 since they only do set course menu.

        • But you might get to see your date in her bathers?

  • not much selection for Brisbane :(

    • +1

You've got 10 to choose from for tonight. That isn't too bad.

      • afctually not too bad sorry
  • How does it work? Do they simply deduct 50% off food items in the bill itself or do we need to remind them?

    • +1

They know and will usually mention it when you arrive.

It may be a good idea to mention Dimmi though if they don’t.

    • +1

I did a couple of these in the winter, the bill was presented with 50 percent off all food items with no drama.

      • Did you have to mention it or remind them??

        • Usually they already know. They actually reminded me it was for food only not drinks when I dined without mentioning about the offer.

        • @Jared17: That's embarrassing, what if I don't want to let my date know that I'm paying half price? :O

        • +6

          @HarveySpecter:

Then exchange her for a date that will appreciate a good bargain.

  • Plenty to choose from in Brisbane. Thanks for the post.

  • Nice! Thanks OP.

  • +2

Website's getting hammered lol Managed 5 bookings so far

    • Yeah, I managed to book 4 and wanted 1 more but the site couldn't handle it anymore.

      • Completely dead now…

  • Is there any cap on how many times can you use the offer (within a month or so) at a particular restaurant?

    • +1

as long as you can book it you can go

  • +1

Plenty of good restaurants added for Perth.

  • +1

I'm getting an error for the Perth site
It's showing me a dog with a hat on…. I don't want to eat dog

I think the website is getting heavy traffic

  • how does it work? do I just book and they will give me 50% when I pay the bill?

    • Yes ull get 50% off your bill when you go. Just good idea to remind them when you are there

    • Your Dimmi booking confirmation email should state the offer on it. Some restaurant staff will make mistakes and forget to apply the 50% off - so check your bill, and show them the email if you need to.

  • I don't like the limit they placed. Don't remember they did that last time. What if when we booked we are under the cap but when we arrived at the restaurant the cap was already reached. That would suck

    • They had limits last time too, places get filtered out if spots get filled

  • Site keeps crashing #ozbargained :(

  • Canberra only has Daana (but it's good).
There are no 50% restaurants in Tassie.

  • +2

We go out 2-3 times a week when this is on. Hoping they'll add more places.

    Our Recommendations:
    BangPop South Wharf (Thai)

Note - Runya's Room Melbourne, they don't tell you anywhere but it's only for mains (meaning not high tea).

Meat & Wine Co. - 4 Course Dégustation (Menu isn't online, we called):
    house wine. bread board.
    beetroot salad
    350 rib eye
    chips skewer
    grain salad
    creme brulee
    47pp

    • Thanks for the Meat & Wine Co details. Can I also assume that the $47pp becomes halved with the deal?

      • From dimmi, "Get 50% off our 4 Course Degustation with wine (Normally $94.50pp)!"

      • That is half.

      • Do let us know if you go. I want to go because it's where I change trams daily and am curious, but he said no because it's Modern Aus rather than something interesting (we booked Turkish).

  • Gold Coast (Varsity Lakes) 50% off
Café Pane Vino lunch and dinner (meals incl pizza) BYO too.

  • +2

I went to Sushi Planet in Adelaide and they asked for my details and signature because they wanted to sue Dimmi. Apparently, they didn't inform Sushi Planet of the 50% off deal so there's that.

    • Lol?

    • -2

Sounds like a. they're asians who didn't accept the offer b. are a franchise.

  • There's not all that many for Perth but it does include one of my favourite Indian restaurants - 2 Fat Indians! I'd recommend giving them a try if anyone is near Mt Lawley

  • They've added alot more now restaurants for Sydney since this first posted. January is going to be a Tinder Date fire sale!!!

    • I haven't been able to access the Sydney one since like 5 :\

  • do they not do half price for anything in Newcastle, NSW?

  • +1

I would avoid Kobe Jones even at 50% off….
It's massively overpriced to begin with, and the food ranges from average to mediocre.
Their Tripadvisor reviews do not inspire much confidence…

    • interesting, Im guessing the food is over-priced because they have good views?

      • The volcano roll is amazing. Waterfront views. A try once for us, and a place to bring guests. They're a groupon regular, can't imagine anyone paying full price.

      • Yes, and they like to disguise poor ingredients using batter and sauces. It all looks very good though.

  • If you are having trouble with the 404 error just manually select the city you want to search for in the drop down list and then select your preferred date and then select the ‘Half price dining’ filter option.
Please note I had logged into my account as well when I did this but I assume this was not a factor.

  • So who bears the 50% price (i.e. loss) in this offer - is it Dimmi or the restaurant? It's a massive loss for restaurants unless their tables remain largely available during the week otherwise.

    • I would imagine the restaurant would bear this. With some menus being outrageously overpriced, even at half price you would imagine they would still be making some profit. (Cafe Del Mar and Kobe Jones are examples of this)

Dimmi probably contacts restaurants and asks them if they want to participate in this campaign, and to treat it as a marketing exercise.

  • I highly recommend Hunter's and Barrel. Absolutely yummo. Been there three times already. Although the half price is only applicable to the degustation course.

    • I linked to a photo of the H&B degustation menu above in case anyone is interested — you won't find it on their website :)

  • Booked 2 restaurants, one for this Sunday and one at the end of the month. Hopefully it all goes smoothly and food doesn't suck.

  • Akachochin South Wharf is now on the list! Has anyone been there?

    • Zomato says 4.1 which is really good!

  • +9

Had a really bad experience at Manjit's yesterday. They were woefully understaffed and had a sneaky $30 per person minimum charge which they don't discount and only discount the amount above $120 (for four people). So in our case the discount ended up being very miniscule. No where on the dimmi booking website do they state this! Other negatives were that we had to wait over 45 mins for our mains, the waiter was rude, messed up our drink order and we heard the head chef shouting at his staff.

    • So did we! Luckily my husband checked with them as we placed the order, how the the discount would work., and they explained the system as you say. We just walked out and had dinner elsewhere in Darling Harbour. Since there was only one other occupied table in the restaurant at the time, I think that may have been you!
