does 8th Gen refer to the CPU?

Please correct me if I am wrong but these 8th Gen are still not the new XPS that are due to be released in January/February 2018 called New XPS?

  • Really a deal. But why the 16gb ultrabooks are so expensive now, and the ram of notebooks has not exprienced any upgrades for at least 5 years.

  • Shame its only 2 lane TB3.

  • Hmm, any ideas on a starting price for a similar specced new model xps13? This is just dipping into my budget of $1400

This Lenovo E480 looks good for the $$$ too but smaller battery https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/350633

Do you think we are going to see better deals than these after xmas? I realise dell 20% is until the 27th.

    Cheers

  • I’m cosidering buying this laptop online during this particular sale, but wouldn’t it be much harder to repair if the laptop has any problems in the future?

I’ve seen the exact same model in The Good Guys stores and I was wondering if I should purchase it there. I’ve haggled with a salesperson, and the lowest they’ll go on the laptop is $1600. I’d feel much safer if the laptop broke down, because then I could go to a store and get them to swap it/fix it asap.

My point is - Is it worth buying this laptop online, or buying it in a physical store for $160 more, but having the insurance that I wouldn’t have to wait for the product to be shipped back for repairs?

(Also, I’m buying this laptop for school, so I don’t have the luxury of waiting a month or so for shipping and repairs)

Dell computer comes with 1 year on-site service. 😄

From my experience, your can book a technician to come to repair the computer within 1 or 2 working day.

Guys, dont mean to diss this laptop, i absolutely love the design and specs for the price.

But there's a big deal breaker, in that this particular model has really bad coil whine. google it and check it out, it seems like almost all sets have it with varying severity. But its all noticeable, and seems to be a design flaw rather than lemon sets.

  • Can't decide if I should snap this up or wait for the next gen model
