I wonder about how many consider that an offensive gift to buy. What do wives generally buy their husbands for presents? Would a lawn mower be a crap present for a husband? Genuinely curious cos I only just got married, no kids, so I don't know what is a normal present these days. I generally ask for specific car related things or gift cards for bunnings or supercheap
Yes offensive, better to let them buy it themselves with your money when they want one. I was joking:) Tools etc for a man fine but to me an iron,vacuum,washing machine etc bit offensive unless its there dream one.

I guess maybe because it's an accepted fact that the man does the mowing or fixing, whereas it's debated daily who should be doing the vacuuming etc. So it may be interpreted as a passive aggressive way of saying hey you should be doing the vacuuming haha.
That and girls seem to prefer shiny things to useful things hahahaNo totally different, tools etc are a case of "whom with the most tools looks awesome" as they are not used in most cases for household chores etc etc. I have more than most people in tools as i used them for my profession and now hobby. Tools are a hobby {and used for there hobbies} for people that is not there profession, a vacuum cleaner,washing machine,iron and ironing board is never going to be most peoples hobby:) Hope i make sense, i could write for hours on it:)
@tonywind: Yeahh, I do collect tools too, so that makes sense. What about a lawn mower or whipper snipper though, that'd be the same, because you can't possibly have a hobby of mowing lawns haha
Oh many people have a hobby mowing there lawns, think its called house proud or something. My grandfather used to take great pride in his lawn, I take great pride in someone else doing my lawn:)
@tonywind: I guess that house proud thing could apply equally to vacuuming the inside of the house as it does for mowing the lawn haha. So I guess it comes down to the individual.
