Vivid Wireless Pty Ltd K-LTE-VIV-02 Home Gateway $149 @ The Good Guys

120

My ADSL2+ connection has been down for a week and still degraded today so I started looking for an alternative broadband connection and found this great deal!
Comes at a great time with upcoming school and Christmas holidays I'm looking forward to using this on trips away these holidays and not having to rely on hotel or free internet service.

Usual setup cost (for modem) is $199 so save $50!

  • Hush you! You'll slow it down for the rest of us..

Bte don't forget your 1 month free if you refer/referred by a friend.

  • Isn't this the normal price, which is the same as Harvey Norman?

Vividwireless 4G is capped at 12MB/S.

12/1 Mbps (not MB/S) which I'm sure you realised and just a typo, but corrected for others.

    • Pretty sure it's 10 megabit. Optus has 12.

  • Can I buy a device and suspend the service in the middle?
Let's say, I will use this for couple of month — suspend the service for 3 months — and then activate the plan again?

    • yes, if you buy modem outright.

    pricematch with officeworks

  • I was close to getting Vividwireless but then I found Uniti Wireless which is much quicker. A bit more expensive but they guarantee that it can physically reach 25/10 on the day otherwise they will cancel the install without cost.

uniti depends on coverage and has a contract.
not to mention the waiting time before a tech can come out.
they don't cover my house, but they could do next door.

      • fiddle with the coverage checker pin, you can usually get it to accept it if one is close enough

yeah a bit of waiting and more advanced to install, but better service

        • i couldn't convince them so i went with nuskope instead.
would of love the 10mbps uplink.

        • @buneyha: possibility to go up to 100/40 depending on signal quality/capacity. sorry you couldn't get them to come around. I signed up for a business service and got an actual sales rep who I was able to negotiate a discount on the massive install fee for business, which is still more than residential, but shows that they can be negotiated with if you say you're a business.

    • Currently on vividwireless but would love to find a fixed wireless internet provider for Western Sydney. It's just too bad they're scattered all over the place without a unified site.

    • Vivid wireless is using cell towers, Uniti wireless is fixed wireless and required line of sight to their tower.

  • Vivid went to shit for me after Optus opened 2300mHz to MVNO wireless home BB plans. Waved bye-bye last month and couldn't be happier.

YMMV depending on location. Docklands in Melbourne for me.

Just gotta flog the modem now I suppose!

    • Who did you move to? Vivid is shit for me too.

      • I have Telstra fibre to my apartment. But plans and set-up costs turned me off connecting and I am not a heavy user. But after recent experience with vivid, I got a decent enough deal with Telstra and just swallowed the set up costs.

  • vivid has a very aggressive qos.
if you use p2p, it's not going to move unless you're using vpn.
just a heads up, cause when i got mine I was disappointed.
but now we're doing over 1tb per month.

    • Can confirm. Had to go to VPN. Thank god for the WD 8tb drive!

    • Does vpn help with non p2p speeds?

      • Non p2p seems mostly good.

  • No problems with mine.. great for Nerflix and Kodi

Just some info, but VIVID wireless is no longer being upgraded. The any service improvements have stopped and only basic maintenance continues.

      Source?

I got to find it. It was said on Whirlpool.

It seems like Optus are moving Vivid Wireless and their Home Wireless Broadband brands together based on how the Optus website now lists both products side by side but it will be interesting to know what their long term plan actually is.

I thought that it would be going the other way (moving HWB to Vivid) based on how they now list Vivid as an option to buy through their website when they didn't previously.

  • I understand that the old vivid wireless wimax equipment are being or have been decommissioned.

Vivid wireless, owned by optus is now selling the optus wireless broadband.

  • is this a Huawei B315s ?
Assume it's locked to Vivid - and I can't just buy it and put any old SIM in ?
I need a 4G modem with ethernet ports and Optus bands - went and signed up for 12 mnth Optus mobile data yesterday.

  • Any help in unlocking this modem.Thanks.

  • About to signup, any one can pm me a referral code? Thanks.

    • FYI your convo is turned off.

      • On now, Thanks.
