  • What plug does this come with?

    • +2

CN plug which is an upside down AU plug

Better to buy this or wait for a 5 in 1 kit sale?

    • Does 5 in 1 look like better value?

Can someone can tell us how much each part in the 5 in 1 kit cost?

      • +2

It's cheaper to buy this then buy the parts you actually need.
Source - I have this and three wireless buttons and a sensor. Could not recommend enough

      • +1

How about you look it up and report back.

GearBest is selling for US$52.99 (using the code: chawber1101), but not the cheapest. Cheapest so far (but unfortunately expired was from LTIB for US$43.50). I'm waiting for the latter deal to come back, hopefully

        • Did they include Gateway v2 into the kit?

      • +1

If you buy the parts on sale, you should be able to collect the same pieces more cheaply. You can also be more selective about which parts you get.

  • Does these integrate with the RGB Yeelights?

  • I think these integrate with zigbee devices only or a few select devices. When I try to add a new subdevice to it no yeelight shows up.

    • I Have it integrating with my yeelights. Try using the Chinese local setting in the app.

      • When u say integrating, do you mean in the mi home app or as a subdevice?

        • yeah in the mi home app. You need a sub device though, like a button, then that button controls the yeelights

        • @steveozdealcomp:
Ah ok. Dont have the wall switch. So u need another device to actually control yeelight with this

        • @Minny: why do you want to control yeelight with this? Both will show up in the mihome app if that's what you're after.

        • @zorrt: I was actually responding to "tomochin1991 2 hours 9 min ago
Does these integrate with the RGB Yeelights?"

Not too fussed for my own usage model

      • Yes they have to be on the same Xiaomi server or using a third party program like Home Assistant.

If you've already got the Yeelights on another server like Singapore (for Google Assistant control) you'll have to reset them. Switch the light on and off five times at the wall (no delay needed just as long as the power is cut) and it'll flash and you can then add it.

As a rough guide, Gearbest currently sell the following components (shipping included)

    https://www.gearbest.com/alarm-systems/pp_600096.html 5in1 $81.69

    which consists of…
    https://www.gearbest.com/living-appliances/pp_344667.html gateway $35.92
    https://www.gearbest.com/living-appliances/pp_344666.html zigbee socket $17.29
    https://www.gearbest.com/smart-light-bulb/pp_257678.html human body sensor $13.30
    https://www.gearbest.com/smart-light-bulb/pp_257679.html wireless $9.40
    https://www.gearbest.com/smart-light-bulb/pp_257677.html window door sensor $10.63

    totaling $86.53

So not much saving buying the kit, but benefit of buying individually is buying what you want/need.

On average, Ozbargain sometimes has the following deals

    Gateway $24
    Socket $11
    Human sensor $9
    Wireless switch $5
    Window sensor $6.50
    Total $55.50

The 5in1 can be had for around $60.

tl;dr .. it’s probably better to just buy the kit when it’s on sale.

  • Does anyone know how to get two gateways to 'listen' to a single body sensor? I'd like two of them to act as nightlights but I can't seem to figure it out, as they can only seem to assign a 'child' device to themselves, rather than share it.

Also, out of interest, is there any way to get these to pulse through the colours, rather than pick a set brightness and colour, and then change it manually?

    • +1

Set up the body sensor as a child device of the closest gateway (to ensure good connection). Using the Mi Home App, go to the "Automation" section, add a condition for where the body sensor detects movement, and then add one action to switch the the first gateway light on, and a second action to switch the other gateway light on.

      • Thanks I'll try it out when I get home.

  • I'm fairly new to Xiaomi stuff. Is the latest version? Ive seen ads for the gateway 2?

    • apparently the gateway2 has the radio

      • Thanks, anything else? I dont need the radio.

        • and i think it replaced the 1st model last year. so i don't think you'd be able to buy an old model brand new.

I received my first few of these yesterday and I've had a fun time trying to set them up. I'm not sure how 'actually' useful they will be, but they are fun nonetheless. They are also a lot smaller than I was expecting.
