Every time that I see one of these posts, e.g. "The Book of Mormon, Melbourne - $69.90" I think "come on, Mormons give them away for free!"

  • Moroni is a liar

    • You saying Moroni existed?

      • yes as a fallen angel, a demon

        • What is a demon and what evidence lead you to your understanding? What is an angel and what evidence lead you to your understanding? You seem to infer a fallen angel is a demon. What evidence do you have of that? How do you know this entity Moroni is one of these demon things?

        • @Major Mess:
From both the Bible and experience with exorcism directly
Mormonism is a form of satanism and satan worship
          look it up

        • @thelastnoob: The bible is the claim, and cannot be used as evidence for the claim itself. You must define the concept and supply testable evidence. Anything else is a fallacious argument, and a sign of delusion.

re Personal experience of exorcism. You still have not defined what this demon concept is, or supplied testable evidence of it. Did you have a psychiatrist confirm that the it was not mental illness? If so, can you supply documentation of such. If not, how is this not abuse of a vulnerable person?

Do you also condone the way Jesus treated non Jews, in particular gentile women? Do you also condone Jesus telling slaves to obey their masters? What about the Old Testament and the law regarding slavery? What about the other commanded acts such as child sexual abuse, rape, and genocide?

Your God is demonstrably evil, and offensive to at least 80% of the Australian population. Everyone on this website can be shown to be a better person than either Jesus or your God.

        • @Major Mess:

Jesus died for non jews to inherit everlasting life. He bore their sins and that is the greatest love to lay down your life for others.
Jesus was loved by women for his kindness and love and it was recorded in the new testament.
The samaritan woman was so excited by her encounter she told many others so I don't see why you say he was bad to them!

I am not sure about the child rape and rape laws you mention.
Anyway I can direct you to exorcisms if you are in Brisbane and you can have your testable evidence.

Australian population is filled with baby murderers and you are making complaint about ancient genocides when the current genocide you completely ignore. Baby murder is EVIL not Jesus. The bible commands against this but people like you endorse it. Many here on this website are involved in this crime. That is already proven but for you since God doesn't exist that means you guys are the real evil.

Speaking of claims you probably believe the untestable claims that the universe came from nothing and life came from non life and all life descended from the one cell.
Lets be fair when it comes to faith!

I went last week, we bought the $40 last minute tickets and then went to the ticket office right before the show and swaped them for really good seats near the front. I'm not sure this would always work but it did for us on a Thursday show. I would avoid this show unless you are a southpark fan.

    • Don't know why anyone negged you. Seemed a fair observation.

    • +1

I agree, funniest bits were actually the least rude! Pretty juvenile humour IMHO.

      • +1

Funnily enough, I'm not a big fan of South Park, but I am a big fan of this. I suppose South Park just seems too much to me and I haven't watched for years (probably the movie was around the time I stopped), so a musical is short enough that it doesn't get tiresome.

Even with that style of humour I find it a smart satire on religion - particularly how new religions can begin.

    • Hi Zwarzy, are last minute tickets sold online or at the ticket office? Is there a time frame before the show when you can do this swap? I've never heard about anyone doing this before.

      • +1

You have to go to the ticket website without any discount website directed link, you can do this by searching book of morman in a new browser to bring up the ticket website. Then there should be a $40 ticket option on weekdays,we got them 3 days before the show.

        • +1

We actually just went to ask the box office where the seats were and he took our tickets and replaced them with new ones… It was when everyone was walking in.

        • @Zwarzy: Thanks for the reply!

    • +1

      How'd you swap them? O.o
I think South Park is stupid… housemates got me to watch one episode. But I LOVE the musical!! We just went to see it again tonight. :)

      • Agree, you don't need to like Southpark to enjoy this musical.

I don't watch South Park. I find the TV show funny in parts but 70% full of a lot of stupid fart jokes. This musical on the other hand (yes, there is a fart joke or two in there) is one of the best I've seen.

So good, so very good. Absolutely hilarious.

Caution: If you're at all sensitive about respecting religion, foul language etc then you'll struggle through this. Not me. As someone who grew up a Mormon (but is no longer), I loved it. All the theology is pretty much bang on.

    Must see.

    • +2

Saw it a few weeks ago and found it very gentle. I would say if you were raised in the era of internet trolling and politically incorrect internet humour, you will find the humour very vanilla

      • Agree. I'm a big South Park fan, but found Book of Mormon to be tame and safe… Certainly wasn't worth the cost of a weekend away in Melbourne to see it.

        • You're not from Sydney are you? Cause it's coming up there next.

I do wonder is musicals come to Tas or Adelaide though?

        • @anastasiastarz:
I'm from Tasmania. We get a few musicals and shows but it'd be a minority.

We also made the trip up to Melbourne last week to see Sia… Not exactly money well spent.

On the other hand Elton John toured Hobart recently (two shows!) and was brilliant. Maybe the lesson here is to stay at home…

    • The fairly accurate if unflattering portrayal of the history of the Mormon's is what makes it really clever.

Great show, definitely south park humor R18+

Fantastic musical. Saw it in New York and seeing it again in Sydney next year. Deserves all the many accolades it won.

  • +1

Its a great show would see it again for sure

that booking fee is the biggest load of BS

  • +1

Not really a spoiler but if you've already seen the show, FROG!

  • $40 and $20 Rush tickets are available through the Ticket Master website. I went to the Saturday 2pm session and booked a few days ahead, seats were right up the back but you don't miss much.

    • In fact there are $20 tickets available for tonight and for Saturday 2pm.

  • +1

Hasa diga eebowai! Great show - saw this last month with cheaptickets on Ticketmaster too - would recommend you catch it while you can.

  • Saw this 2 weeks ago with the $70 Rush Tickets in the back half of the stalls with full view of the stage. If you enjoy the humour of South Park you will love this show. The warning on the booking page and tickets is real. See it in Melbourne for cheap if you can before it heads to Sydney in a few weeks.

  • Looks like you can put a price on Eternal Life ; )

  • About the same price you can get from Leicester Square Box Office

  • Is Row D in the Stalls too close to the stage? Or is that a "perfect" view?

  • So whats the better place to sit?

    • We got K20 seats tonight ($40 lottery) which were pretty much right in that A-res middle area. Great seats.
This was our view: https://www.instagram.com/p/BcUYDb-FQYc/ use the arrows on the picture to see more.
@tidy Count four rows from the front for D.

  • Why do I need to pay for a Book of Mormon?

Those nice guys on bicycles wearing black pants and white shirts, who are called "Elder" (ever though they are 18, really strange!) gave me one for free.

Also got a free "special" bible by talking to a JW at my door.

And if you visit a Christian Science reading room, you can get some free books there too.

    Some great bargains out there.

Just don't visit the Scientologists. They charge a fortune for everything. Not s bargain!

    • Mormon expected contribution is 10% of your pre-tax income. They interview members before certain access is given (such as the ability to visit certain parts of the regional "temples") and the members are required to state their status as a full payer, part payer or non-payer. Of course, you don't HAVE to pay anything, but there is immense pressure to comply.

So it's not cheap being a Mormon either.

      • That happens in other parts of Christianity too. I have a family member who was born again. While the donations are "optional", you're very much looked down upon as a non-contributing member of the church while the head of the church drives around in a fancy car. Honestly I feel it's a hair's breadth away from being a cult. BUt then, so are many religions.
