I was on a flight earlier this year and the guy sitting next to me had the Sennheiser PXC 450 (next model up) I think he said he paid about $600. Hel let me try them and they were amazing. Truly incredible sound and the noise cancelling was better than anything I had tried before including my 2y/o Bose. Great price +1
I own these headphones and whilst I recommend them, they can be bought for a lot less than $600.
Buy them from Amazon and even with shipping, it's cheaper than buying in Australia. I payed $500AUD for mine 2 1/2 years ago.

Man headphones are bloody expensive these days….
These are active noise-cancelling headphones… not just "speakers that plug into your ears"!
Having said that, you can easily pay $300 for "speakers that plug into your ears".
Noise cancelling - I prefer to just turn the volume up.
