I was working there for around 1 year, still keep a credit card and transaction account.
You had to be 'invited' to the sale - thanks anyway though
Just to update everyone, my camera finally reached my us address, and they quoted 2.5 kgs against the actual 1.2 kgs, but all-in-all the shipping still only came to $21 for express shipping i.e. 3 - 4 days, against B&H charging me $65 for regular shipping. So, I am pretty happy with these guys…
Hope I get my package before Friday…!!!
and they quoted 2.5 kgs against the actual 1.2 kgs
Thats because the size of the box was more than the actual weight
US $2.69 for Express Shipping for my manga book from Amazon.com. Quoted weight was 500 grams (book was about 350 grams). I'm happy so far!
My scanner arrived at HopShopGo- the quoted volumetric weight was above the calculated by shipping dimensions given by Amazon, but with the first $25 off discount I didn't really mind. Now waiting for delivery.
I see a pattern forming here….
Do they have some sort of BS volumetric weight calculation? because it seems everyone is being caught out by it.
Do they have some sort of BS volumetric weight calculation?
No, padding can easily cause volumetric weight to occur.
Amazon can be bad as they sometimes put small things in a big box with lots of padding instead of using a smaller box.
There are standards for volumetric weight, the DHL calculator is here http://www.dhl.com/en/tools/volumetric_weight_express.html
whatelse are people buying from the states atm?
i just paid for the 3g kindle. i think amazon wants 30usd for shipping or something. hopefully this will be slightly less.
fyi guys…fuel surcharge is charge-able on all users who registered after 16th Nov…so not waived as previously mentioned in this thread…too bad for us who registered using this deal
all up charged about $USD40
= 64 (shipping costs) - 6.4 (paypal 10% disc) - 25.20 (1kg off) + 5.44 (fuel surcharge) + 1.98 (insurance)also, 1kg off promotion is a once off only deal…
still a good deal but could have been better…
Tracking indicated the my package arrived at HopShop on Tuesday, but I have not received notification from them. Wondering how long do you usually have to wait?
It normally takes 2 days for them to tell you the package has arrived
Thanks
Got my package from HopShopGo today! =D Delivered from Amazon.com to my US shipping address (took out a Amazon Prime trial for two-day free shipping) to my house in nine days for only US$2.69.
I ordered a pair of headsets and as per amazone they are 1.02 kgs. Hopshopgo.com quotes its 3.5 kgs and want to charge me US25.00 for it (after discount). I think its not too bad, but I wonder if amazon would have shipped it to for cheaper.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_n…cheers
satiI don't think Amazon ships headsets to Australia, at least most of them.
try http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Del…
as a start point. Some of those ship to Oz.

How did you get a US credit card mate? It's something I've always wanted but haven't figured out how to get short of going over there and having a US address and maybe tax number and whatnot.
