They have changed the model with the only difference being a filter, but when you consider the filter is the part that makes it a purifier worth noting.

Unless you needed exactly this fan in the next couple of days and have the Amex deal, I would personally wait to see the Amazon offering and subsequent scrambling from other retailers (hopefully).
Dyson were amongst the first items accidentally revealed when Amazon au were adding items just this Monday (have since been removed).

This is just opinion but I think we could have either a launch or announcement as soon as end of this week.

    • "They have changed the model with the only difference being a filter, but when you consider the filter is the part that makes it a purifier worth noting."

Interested to know more about the filter difference between old and new. Do you have any links with more information? Is this the filter that we are supposed to change every year or so anyway?

      • Don't worry, found it.

        Old (Clearance model)

Designed and developed with a 360 degree Glass HEPA filter, the Dyson Pure Cool Link Tower Purifier Fan is capable of removing up to 99.95% of allergens and pollutants such as pollen, bacteria, and pet dander as small as 0.1 microns in size1. While a layer of activated carbon granules capture any odours or toxins.

        New

Designed and developed with a new, improved, 360 degree Glass HEPA filter, the Dyson Pure Cool Link is capable of removing up to 99.97% of allergens and pollutants such as pollen, bacteria, and pet dander as small as 0.3 microns in size1. While a thicker layer of activated carbon granules capture any odours or toxins.

        • Wow, 0.02% more particles, what a huge difference. Night and day difference!

        • Old - purple edges with activated carbon between paper and fibres
New - green edges with graphite replacing carbon and roughly triple the volume between paper and fibres, fibres also slightly changed but function the same.

        • Given the filter is replaceable, surely the the new filters will fit the old model? Surely they haven't changed the form factor?

        • To answer my own question: based on this question asked and answered on Amazon:

This is simply an updated version of the HEPA filter for Tower Purifier models. Fits the AM-11 (with a housing from Dyson) and the Pure Link Cool.

Also, an Amazon customer review of the new vs. old filter.

So, if you wanted this purifying fan, then buy this at the heavily discounted rate and either wait until the original filter requires replacing, or just buy the replacement 2nd generation filter now and put the original in the box for emergencies.

      • Isn't 0.1 microns smaller than 0.3 microns ????

Also won't this be more dependent on the filter which you replace (which I assume is the new filters) ?

  • Do we know when this HN offer finishes ? I hate to wait for Amazon and then find its not as good, then HN's offer expires….

    • i don't know but this deal posted with expiry date of 31 Dec.

    • The post specifies 31 December, but given Harvey Norman lists it as a clearance item, it will likely run until sold out.

  • Do these things actually cool the air well?

I don't own one but from everything I've read they're "just" a fan with a purifier, not an a/c.

    • just fan with a filter… kinda expensive for what it is… but so is everything else Dyson makes….The filter is non-washable too, and its recommended you replace it every 6 months at a cost of $99

      • Filter is every 4300 hours, mine has fairly heavy use (as a fan) it has just over 1000 hours left after 14 months.

I'm happy with mine as a fan, certainly not air con though.

BingLee ebay today has this for $499 but after 20% ebay discount is only $399.20

  • What's the difference between these two? Shipping is more expensive on the other lol, but both $499 on Bing Lee.

New Dyson - Pure Cool Link Tower Purifier Fan - 308063-01 from Bing Lee

    Vs

New Dyson - 305169-01 - Pure Cool Link Tower Purifier Fan from Bing Lee

They also have separate pages on Good Guys, $100 difference on them.

    scratches head

    • the Dyson site only shows the one model…I got the one from Bing Lee… actually I'm impress so far… in auto mode the fan goes low and high depending on the air quality (I hope).. I was cooking and the smoke mustve went into the lounge room and the fan went off (in high mode)..normally u won't be able to hear the fan unless its on high

The Dyson Pure Cool Link™ Tower (TP03) model number 308063-01 is the new version with the thicker green filter, and is the only model currently listed on the Dyson Australia Online Store. The Dyson TP03 model 305169-01 is the older version with the purple filter.

Since Dyson Australia has (temporarily?) reduced the price to $499, most retailers are using this to hype the product and hopefully sell their old (TP03 v1) stock.

The Harvey Norman offer (this deal) is for the old model TP03 (with the purple filters), but these filters are interchangeable with the new green filters when necessary.

The Bing Lee $499 offers are available direct and on eBay for both 308063-01 TP03 v2 with green filter (eBay, Direct) and 305169-01 TP03 v1 with purple filter (eBay, Direct).

I ordered a Dyson TP03 v2 model using the Bing Lee eBay deals which were available for $409.20 delivered (with 20% off) on Friday (thanks to odie_88 for their comment on Friday).

FWIW, I used my AMEX $100 cash back by getting Harvey Norman to price match a Sonos PLAY:5 (Addicted to Audio, OzBargain post) for $614 ($514 after AMEX cash back).

Apparently $614 was below Harvey Norman's buy price, but they still honoured the price match after approval from a manager, who thoroughly reviewed Addicted to Audio's website, location, terms and conditions etc., etc…

  • so after using it for a while, I noticed that the fan isn't completely vertical…it slants a little… at first I thought it was the carpet but no…My wife doesn't think so though…

Anyone else see this ???? :)

    • i believe it tilts.
