      • Could you provide screenshots or something?
I'm not seeing this 'promotional card' anywhere, just a decorations/christmas tree deal of the day thingy, followed by a 'That's all for Now!' message and links to my previous orders.

    • works for me, thanks op

      • how did you redeem it? mines been applied to my account since changing to U.S. but nowhere to redeem when checking out

        • +2

you have to search for your product through the assistant and it opens a web new webpage, add to cart and complete the check out and the credit appears at last stage before you commit to buy

        • @everunman:

          Thank you

    • -1

Errr… actually it does. I took up this offer some other time when Amazon US offered it and it worked perfectly. Just need to read the Amazon Assistant TOCs.
No I can't give you a screen shot or whatever… I did it earlier this year.

I'm a bit sus about Amazon's security. my account was hack yesterday and fake reviews posted. I logged in and changed my password and re-reviewed those products telling everyone they pay for reviews. Today i wake up to my Amazon email address has been changed. I haven't logged into amazon for over a year.

    • +1

Do you use a unique password for every website you go to?

      • i use a lot of different passwords, the password i changed too has never been used before and they were able to login and change my email address.

        • they were able to login and change my email address.

Sounds like they have access to your email account then.

          It's not Amazon's issue.

        • @Diji1: yeah sorry i should of said i did change my email password too.

        • @Brett308: Amazon has 2-step verification. As best practice, I would turn it on and setup for all your accounts (particularly email) where available. You will be near hackproof then. https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=…

        • -3

@rokufan: yeah i would love to activate 2-step verification but i don't trust there security enough to put in my phone number. lol

        • +2

          @Brett308:

          Wow.

If this has happened that quickly and as you say (you changed email and amazon password), it's likely that you have a keylogger installed on your computer, which means that anything you type (including new passwords) is being logged. Nothing to do with Amazon security. So, a hacker has gained access to your computer, and you're worried about giving your phone number to Amazon? They already have your name, address, credit card information and a bunch of other details, how much less secure do you think giving them a phone number would make you?

Honestly, this is one of the largest companies in the world and if you think their security, that is fundamental to protecting their business model, is anything but excellent, you really have no idea. This is absolutely on your end.

Activate 2 factor authentication for goodness sake, and then install good anti-virus software. If you're not computer savvy enough to do that, go to a computer shop. I wouldn't buy anything online using your computer until it's been checked. Fake reviews on an Amazon product would be the least of my worries right now, if I were you.

        • +1

@b2dz: I have checked my computer and found nothing. I am very computer savvy and everything is upto date, antivirus didn't find anything and Malwarebytes found nothing. I will keep looking however my other online accounts (that i used weekly) have not been compromised (that i can tell) just the Amazon account which i have not used for over a year. Don't be naive and think a company as big as Amazon cant be hacked, its happened before and will happen again.

I dont trust their system ATM so i wont be giving them more of my info.

        • +1

          @Brett308:

Never said it was unhackable, only excellent.

Ok cool, if you think the issue is on Amazon's end and not yours, then good luck.

        • @Brett308:

Don't be naive and think a company as big as Amazon cant be hacked, its happened before and will happen again.

If someone hacked Amazon, they wouldn't only be targeting your account. They would be hacking tens of thousands of accounts. We will all definitely hear about that.

Seeing that we haven't heard of any major attacks on Amazon it is far more likely that the problem is on your end. I doubt you're worth hacking Amazon for.

        • +1

@eug: its not just happening to me but it is only happening to my amazon account (not my other website accounts) that i had not logged into for over a year.

          https://www.reddit.com/r/amazon/comments/6cstcz/my_account_w…

Also in April hackers got a lot of seller accounts and changed banking details to funnel funds out, also inactive seller accounts were hacked and started scamming buyers.

        • @Brett308: Your original Amazon and email passwords, were they 100% unique and unguessable? Not used anywhere else at all? What about the passwords you changed them to?

  • +3

Yeah I am sorry but the instructions dont really seem to explain where to go or what to do. IT doesnt look like many people have accessed this at all…

    google Amazon Assistant Promotion FAQs

Hi folks…. follow the instruction's provided here in 'RoughMetaphors' post. I took up Amazons's offer on a previous occasion and it worked perfectly. I take up Amazon's offers periodically and have no issues usually. Importantly, you need to follow the instructions to the letter.

  • worked! thanks OP!

  • +28

Ok, so i couldnt get this to work before following the instructions above, like everyone else i wasnt able to find that redeem code thing.
    So try this:
    https://www.amazon.com/kindle-dbs/confirmation?promoCode=325…
It should give you the $5 from that link. Then just search your item via the amazon assistant addon and checkout should automatically apply the $5 off your purchase.
Was able to work for me this way.

    • Brilliant, tomochin1991!!!

    • Boom! Thanks.

    • thanks champ

    • +4

      I get an error:
This promotion is not available in your current locale. Please check your setting by going here: country settings.

Then after I click on the link, it just takes me to a list of Kindle Books…

      • +1

You need to change your Kindle country by putting in a US address. Then try it. Worked for me.

        • Hey, How do I change my Kindle country?

      • -1

        @ringu

i got the same but was able to work around it by:

going to the manage your content page

it said its Australia and there's another page for it,

went there and was able to change my country to USA,

        put in random details,

went to the link again and got the $5

    • Legend! Got it working this way…Cheers for the info

    • Worked for me. Thank you!

    • tomochin1991 this it the only method that worked for me!!! Thanks. Didn't have to change my address either, just kept it as Aus.

Get US $5 off Your Next US $25 Purchase

And lose untold amounts of money due to Amazon seeing everything you do in your browser and apparently everything you say for some people.

Of course it doesn't happen to you. Just like everyone else you're immune to it.

    • Has it happened to you? How much money did you lose?

Or are you immune to it just like everyone else?

    • +1

after you redeem then you can disable it

  • The offer wasn't applied to my cart when I went to checkout, even though I got the alert saying it'd been added to my account.

Is there another step I'm missing?

    • Did you search the product via the Amazon Assistant?

      • I did search via that Amazon Assistant, but no hint of that $5 yet

  • I never got it the last time. Not going to try again this time.

  • I'm stuck at Step 2. I don't have a promotional card either.

I have Settings on the left or Bookmarks (?) on the right (Your Orders, Your Lists, Today's Deals, Warehouse Deals, Cloud Drive, Cloud Reader, Amazon Music)

    • +1

      Try this?

      • Thanks. I must have had an old version of the page open because there were only a few posts when I submitted, but there are heaps now. I guess it helps to refresh before commenting ;). Thanks for pointing that link out to me.

  • The product has to be 'Sold by Amazon', not just 'Fulfilled by Amazon'

  • What did You guys buy? I need help spending $25 on something.

    • You should put it towards a watch.

  • Not sure I’d give those permissions to amazon to save $5 once

  • Does this still work as i cant seem to get anywhere with it.

  • I can't get it to work as well after making those suggested changes

  • +1

I couldn't get it to work until i clicked on this link which was posted from some one further above and then it said i got the $5USD promotional credit.
