        • @spk: hoping to use all 4 of my Amex card.

        • +1

          @PPrem:
You can split payments on 4 cards when you actually buy the phone.

        • Was she rude?

You should've pulled out your Visa card and showed her you're no threat…..then quickly pull out the AMEX and input that pin number and hope for the best lol

        • @montorola: well she had a smirk on a face as soon as i asked for gift card. But she was acting like she owns the joint. ohh well.

        • @payton: Can you split payments online too?

        • @strawberrybug:
no idea sorry, but in person they never asked any question IME

    • Buy online 2x$200 , repeat for each of your AMEX card

      • Are you referring to Harvey Norman e-Gift Cards?

  • Do we need to use the AMEX Express Checkout or is normal checkout using the American Express card details sufficient?

Edit: Fellow OzBers who have used this, did you use the AMEX Express Checkout or nah?

    • I used the normal checkout with Amex card details and received the email straight away.

      • Thanks, Friend!

I used the normal checkout and got an email saying my order is under review.

        Aaaand it's been rejected. WTF.

        • had the offer been redeemed? did you get an email from amex?

        • @PissLUR: No email from Amex, just an email from HN saying order is under review, then another one saying the order was rejected.

First email: Thanks for placing your order with us. It is currently being reviewed by our online team.

Second: Thanks for placing your order with us. However after careful review, we have decided to not accept your order. We apologise for any inconvenience.

          WTF is that about?

        • @yomn:

what does it say on your account? Offer saved or Offer redeemed?

        • @PissLUR: Saved, but the charge from HN is pending according to my bank.

        • @yomn:

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/340003?page=3#comment-5250…

          you may get lucky.

I am hoping that my online order gets rejected and keep the $100 credit.

        • @PissLUR: That'd be great, but I didn't get the AMEX email saying it was redeemed and the site still just says saved.

According to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/340036#comment-5250419 HN might not be great for getting that GPU anyway.

        • What did you buy? Was it just that the item wasn't available? I pulled the trigger on an iPhone SE and I'm pretty much expecting that they won't be able to allocate stock and cancel my order.

        • @yomm, I did another order using the normal checkout and it wasn't accepted. This time the credit card is under my husband name. I guess this is the reason for being rejected.

        • @FBOD: My card is in my name, buyer/receiver name and address is the same as that of the card as well. The dumbest thing is that they rejected my order, but took my money anyway. Now awaiting a refund.

        • @yomn: have you got the refund yet and how long you have to wait for the refund? Mine one has been almost 2 weeks though when I rang 2 days ago they said it is in process.

  • I have been to HN cannington and Oconnor WA today and couldn't see any HN gift cards at the registers or in the store. The only ones I did see were itunes ones at Cannington at the entrance to the electrical, but all were of low denominations. Staff must've bee given early warning.

  • Would this work at Harvey Norman seconds/clearance stores??

    • on the deal it states:

Excludes purchases from Harvey Norman Photo Centre Online, Harvey Norman Big Buys, Harvey Norman Commercial, Harvey Norman Education & Business, Harvey Norman Energy, Harvey Norman Insurance Replacement, Harvey Norman Security, Domayne, Joyce Mayne, Poliform, Space and The School Locker locations.

So I'm assuming I'll get the $100 credit at Harvey Norman Clearance stores as well?

  • +5

Just a reminder or a “for info”. You don’t have to spend $400 in one transaction, it can be $400 in ONE OR MORE transactions. Did this earlier in the year, eg $220 then a week later $90……as an example.

    • $220 then a week later $90……as an example.

      That's $310

      • +3

The offer back then was $50 off $300, and what I wanted added up to $310! :)

  • Cool. Got 10 HN Gift Cards in Malaga WA & 10 in Osborne Park WA with no issue. Staff haven't bee alerted.

    • HN gift cards or Visa gift cards?

      • HN Gift Card

    • -2

Is HN Gift Card (Store gift cards) excluded from cashback promo?

  • +3

Apple MacBook Pro 13" with Touch Bar 256GB - Space Grey (https://www.harveynorman.com.au/apple-macbook-pro-13-with-to…) - $2348 online. Talked down to $2200 and split over 4 cards so hopefully $400 back.

Yes I know it says excluded Apple but never had an issue before. Emails from Amex received immediately.

    • Same. My mum bought an iPad and other Apple type accessories today and got the messages.

    • $400 Cash back received this morning. Thanks HN and Amex :-)

  • Been to Sydney Auburn store this afternoon, same answer, they don't sell GC if using AMEX. Seems GC online will be rejected also. What if i order apple product online, anyone tried? Will they reject as well?

    • but you cant split payment online.

  • Any luck in Brizzy with Visa gift cards?
Frankly speaking I didn't even know that HN sold Visa gift cards and I have been buying HN gift cards for the past year. What a shame

    • Just tried the valley its a no, "their system isn't allowing it"

  • Sydney Auburn store priced matched Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Wireless @ $400.00. Bargain.

    • M2 are overrated. The new Sony 1000X has better bass.

  • So I don't own an Amex; this is a rookie OZB error? Should I just grab a no annual fee Amex (e.g Essential) so I can take advantage of this deal or others like it???

    • +1

You should get something that has a large amount of signup points. The explorer card is good when the deal is on, 110K pts with a referal.

      • Hmmm, perhaps I have to do the maths, $395 annual fee seems high to me :/

        • I've had the entry level qantas discovery that is free. Works fine. Gets all these deals.

        • +1

You get a $400 travel credit that can be used for flights, hotels, hire cars etc. Plus the 110k points are worth far more than $395. And you'll save the $395 back in cashback deals like this one over the year too

        • +1

@digitalane: Yeah, sounds good in theory, but means you spend money on a holiday (just less that you would have). We haven't had a holiday since 2014, money a bit tight at the moment. Maybe in a year or two.

        • +1

@John Kimble: If you convert points to cashback, the signup bonus (when it's on the regular 100k promo, but probably all the time too) converts to more than the annual fee anyway. Then second year downgrade it to the fee free essentials card

    • Yes

  • +2

Deals like these make me want to get an account

  • managed to get an ex-demo Moto Z Play for $300

  • Is there a surcharge when using Amex at Harvey Norman? I'm planning to borrow a mates to get a Nintendo Switch.

    • No surcharge. Gerry's people would complain if he did.

  • Awesome deals.

  • Anyone know if this deal applies to Additional card holder and main card holder, so you can get $100 from each one?
    Get 200 altogether

  • +2

The maximum number of cardholders have already enrolled! Can't get it anymore :'(

  • I have registered my amex card, but not the supplementary card, can still split payment with my card and my supplementary card and redeem $200 ?

    • Nope, you need to register every card separately.

      • -1

Oh so for next time, I should add max supp cards under my account (4) and individually sign up to the offer for each card? Afaik each supp card is same number as main except the last 5 digits, but will that mean different login/registration for each card?

Sorry I am a New AMEX Holder today!

  • Liverpool and Campbelltown now both saying they don't sell VPay. No prepaid VISA cards either.

  • Checked at HN Supa Centre, Syd - they don't stock VPAY or VISA GC. wth!

  • Thinking about Apple Watch Series 3

    • Likewise, what do you think about the alloy case (which is the only option they have)?

I think cellular is not that important as phone is almost always around, only concern is about alloy might be too soft.

      • 7000 Alloy is fine. I have an Apple Watch Series 0 and it still goes strong (except the battery). AND you are right that cellular is kinda gimmick and eats battery real fast. I’m planning to go in-Store, negotiate a deal on 42mm black, and pay by Amex.

        • Can you negotiate on AW3? Or any Apple products for that matter?

        • @browser:
Yea, At least you can try. For AW3, you won’t get much but $10-20 off is still okay.

  • Apaprantely Head office/ePat merchant blocked all gift card transactions

    • I guess that's a fair move. Why would they go through the trouble to give away the cashback so people can shop elsewhere.

      • but that's still a revenue for them.

      • Yeah but I don't get why they're blocking sales of their own gift cards?

        • Agree, HN gift cards should be allowed.

        • Is it possible to buy other gift cards paid by HN gift cards?

      • because professionals

    • Is this for online or in store GC purchase?

  • Bondi junction sold out of physical visa cards. The girl didn't seem to know what vpay was

  • DAMMIT, didn't realise this was an opt-in offer with registration, just looked and now it's expired!

    Just my luck!

    • Me too! So gutted that I can't register anymore to buy a switch :/

      • Want me to help you? I've got the offer saved on my cards but don't have a use for them. PM me and we can work something out.

    • I would say a majority of registrations came from OzBargainers haha >.>

  • All Harvey Normanal in Sydney sold out !!

That is quick! free money is good money in Sydney eh.

    • not really. they have taken the cards off the shelves and not doing vpay/visa anymore.

      • Im sad. They confirmed?

      • but what if u use VISA… will they allow it?

        • Yes they will. with Visa, Mastercard or Cash… but not Amex.

        • +1

@spk: Isnt that anti-competitive? Need to complain to AMEX or ACCC

  • Just a quick one, I have saved the offer in the card first then bought an ipad at Harvey Norman today. But I have not received any amex confirmation email, so not sure whether I still can get $100 credit back from Amex. Has anyone encountered this before? No email received but still can get the credit later on?? Thanks

    • +1

I always get credit even if no confirmation email.
YMMV tho, better call amex to confirm.

      • I didn't get any confirmation email either.. tidie you sure still got the credit even though you didn't get any emails??

        • Yes, for a couple of times

        • @tidie: I see how long does it usually take??

        • @silent123:
same as any other ones, about 3-5 days

    • Check your receipt and see if it says Harvey Norman or something else like Domayne, HN Business Centre etc.

  • Its AMEX thats forking out the $100 isn't? so why is HN sooo stingy about it?
