Look, up on the clock tower.

    It's a watch, it's a timepiece, it's a geek.

    No, it's WatchNerd.

    • +8

I can see you from my clock tower, down there on the street.
      What watch are you wearing?

      • +3

His wrist is naked & yours for the taking!

  • +1

You can mow through the sea weed whilst wearing this.

These are okay watches but the logo is so disgusting I just can't buy this brand :(
On the other hand, Orient is nice and classy :)

    • +5

I am always going to post these on Ozbargain because they are great value.
For under $100.00 you are basically getting a 200m Seiko watch with an above entry level auto movement.
My Seiko SKX007 doesn't even have hacking or hand winding.

The modding thread on Watchuseek is a great resource for learning how to remove the logos. There are also some videos on youtube.
The fact that people who know more about watches than I ever will are willing to spend many hours pulling these apart & modifying them tells me that they are a solid watch.

I agree, Orient watches are very nice. They are owned by the Seiko Epson Corp, but you would have to pay a lot more for an Orient dive watch.

Didn't actually know these things used a Seiko movement, figured it'd be some cheap chinese POS one. This brand always got a bad rap in most watch forums / subreddits, particularly for how they advertise so many of their watches 'RRP' as anywhere from 700-1200+ (which we all know they are not) and then have the 'discounted price' listed at 100-200 or whatever they are actually selling them for. That, and a lot of people really don't like replicas which is fine.. but for the movement alone this isn't a bad deal at all for someone looking for a cheap automatic.

Invicta gets a lot of hate for a few reasons. Firstly, if it breaks and you bought it from Amazon, no worries. But bought elsewhere there is effectively no warranty. Also, some can't get over the obvious resemblance to a Rollie, but seriously, sub homages are a dime a dozen. Many people are watch snobs and the only affordables they would touch are Seiko, Orient or Citizen and some micros. Let's not mention the gaudy engraving. Look closely though and you will find tonnes of people who accept Invicta subs for what they are and for under a hundred dollars they sure are hard to beat. That Seiko movement is a work horse, very durable and found in watches valued well over $500. By the way this watch is a homage (more of a tribute), not a replica which is deceptively pretending to be something it's not.

        • @ilikeit: Yeah my mistake, it is a homage and not a replica. I don't really have anything against homages (as I own a Steinhart Ocean One) but I guess if people are trying to flaunt it as if it's a smurf sub it would probably rub some people the wrong way. Agreed on the movement though, I only have one Seiko automatic but it's been through hell and keeps on ticking.

        • @NedStark102: I want one of those new Ocean Titanium 500 GMT Premium Batmans bad. Bit worried about the flat lugs, although I do have a flat wrist. Might have to test out on an Aquatico One or Phoibos which have the same case…

    • Logo is a replica of a Breitling.

That's possibly why I've never been a fan of Breitling.

      • How can you not be a fan of Breitling?

        • I'm going to be unpopular but I think the bezels of most Breitlings are just ugly, just too much going on.

They must be popular because they sell a few.

Superb price for a robust automatic.

  • Comes out to $95.77AUD for me ;)
How much do these go for here out of curiosity?

  • +1

Lol poor mans Rolex Submariner? Pretty much a carbon copy.

    • Jeez, not going to disagree with you, but who isn't pumping out a Rollie sub homage these days? I think Invicta has uglified this watch enough to make sure that no-one is ever going to confuse the two from short range.

  • Thanks WatchNerd. Is the original 'List Price' of $395 a true market value or have they just jacked it up?

    • No probs, let us know what you think of it when you get it.

Always check Camel for the average price on Amazon, the link is in the description.

JV: I thought camels were called ships of the desert?

        • Oh please God don't do that and no nothing about me checks out.

        • @AngryChicken:

I can see why you're Angry, Chicken.

    • Jacked it up - they commonly list their 'RRP' as an unbelievable amount, often anywhere from 700-1200 (even higher in some cases) but then list the 'reduced' price as what they're actually selling it for. Pretty shady practise IMO.

Thanks WatchNerd. I always look forward to your watch posts. Although I usually only get Citizen Eco-Drives, I still appreciate a good watch and I know a watch is good if you post a deal for it.

Specifically logged in to OZB to see if WatchNerd had posted this! Nice work. The blue one and the 9404SYB have been open on my browser tab since last night. I told myself I would wait for BF deals, but I've come home from work and I'm suddenly feeling the itch…

Link to 9404SYB Link to Camelx3

    • You don't need another watch, haha.

The 9404SYB has a scallop edge bezel which I don't think is as nice as the coin edge on this one.

      • I know…I Don't. Thought a scallop might be a nice change up. I think I might sit this one out and go for a Tisell Vintage Sub. Can't really decide.

    • Amazon aren't disclosing the stock level, so maybe the price will return to US$55.99. Meanwhile, the Invicta 9094OB has plummeted another US$0.15.

  • nice watch. just rewarded myself with one lol

Got one….Thanks Op!…a batman rolex for a fraction of the real one lol

  • That's a nice deal, thanks for posting WatchNerd. I'm after some more rugged water resistant automatic watch, which one would you recommend and can be had on a good deal since we are after bargains here :)… Skx007, srp777, or the srp667…I am leaning towards the 667s as it comes with compass, but it is not the deciding factor. Thanks

The SKX009 or 009 are iconic dive watches and the most modded watch in existence. WatchNerd has one, as do I. They are very solidly built, 200m WR and despite being 42mm, they fit amazingly well. It'll last you 20 years or more. The lume is amazing. No hand wind or hacking unfortunately. If you didn't like it, you could flip it for marginally less than you paid.

I have an SRP777 Turtle with the gold bezel markers on a bracelet. Obviously similar in many regards to the SKX, but a step up in most areas. The case is 44m which is massive for most, but the short lug to lug distance and cushion case actually make it appear smaller. It is very comfortable on the wrist. Like the SKX, it's highly modded by enthusiasts. The lume is killer. Perhaps the best upgrade is the hackable movement that can also be hand wound.

The SRP667 actually belongs to the Seiko 5 family which is more of a budget line. However, this one is at the upper end of the spectrum. While the Turtle and SKX are true divers, this is a navigator with the compass bezel as you stated. The size, at 44mm, is quite large and it will wear larger than the Turtle which is the same size. It has the same movement as the Turtle which is hackable and can be hand wound. This one has attractive sword hands and a clear case back. The one notable omission is the lack of a screw down crown, thus reducing it to 100 WR.

To me, the SKX is sensational and rugged, but hand wind and hack would be nice. The Turtle is a gorgeous and beautiful step up from the SKX, but you need a wrist over 7.25 inches IMO. The SRP667 is very attractive, but less rugged and large in diameter. Its profile is slimmer if you want to wear it under a cuff. You could most likely buy an after market compass bezel for the SKX and Turtle if you desired it. Try Dagaz or DWL If your wrist is larger I would go for the Turtle, but chances are you buy an SKX one day. I'm NEVER selling mine.

      • Very much appreciate your input. You seem to have a good knowledge.

i got similar watch last year (Invicta Men's 8926OB Pro Diver https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000JQFX1G/ref=oh_aui_deta…) and really like it, black version though, put a leather band on it and looks sweet.
