I feel the 8 and 8 plus will depreciate more than what we've been used to with previous iphone models since most people seem to be opting for the X. I sense a price cut by Christmas time to bump up sales. Ofcourse that means the 7 and 7 plus prices will fall in prices as well.

I doubt it — Apple rarely cuts prices, especially since it devalues their "premium" brand image. And besides, resellers are providing plenty of discounts as it is, so Apple doesn't need to do anything.

Depends on whether you think you’ll break your screen or not.
Link AMEX to your PayPal and use this to purchase the ebay one. That way you will get the cheaper price and the screen insurance.
Why waste $173 and purchase from Apple when you can get the screen insurance with the ebay purchase? Just make sure the ebay purchase receipt has the phone serial number on it AND you keep a copy of the matching Paypal transaction AND you keep a copy of your AMEX statement showing purchase.
I know , but amex transactions will show up PAYPAL*** transactions, I am afraid amex will not honour when it comes to a claim.
amex might argue, transaction purchase must be done thru amex card directly, Not via paypal 3rd party ( just worry )
