Could you both stop gendering inanimate objects. I am triggered.

        Voted because it … :)

        • +3

How dare you assume this phone is genderless you monster!

        • +4

Did you just assume this phones gender??

It could be gender fluid trans pan asexual fur kin…

        • +3

@pegaxs: We should still vote no, whatever it identifies as.

      • +2

How dare you to assume its gender by its skin colour!

        • Pink lives matter…

    • Male gender is correct according to the French?

      le téléphone portable

      • Surrendering to Nazis is correct according to the French.

  • +1

is it me or do these don't even look close to the original 3310 bar the fact that it has a keypad???

  • +11

Does anyone else want to buy one just because?

    • +1

      I did hahahaha

    • +1

That's exacrly why this deal had 700+ upvotes:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/252112

    • Still have the original. Don't think it would work (probably 2G?).

Does its battery last for days? Or have they 'updated' that to match smartphones too?

      • It does last for days, possibly a week+ in standby. Best to check reviews for the 3G model.

  • Dusty Pink could be a Vodafone exclusive. I bought mine in Charcoal from JB Hi-Fi and my only other colour option was Azure.

For reference, this phone is $89 outright ($80 from JB Hi-Fi if you tell them you're a Telstra customer)

    • +1

      Lol dusty pink

    • Yep, I had a VF Nokia N64 in the same colour.

  • +1

It might have different version, it's 2G in Europe

    Inside:
2G connectivity for calling and texting
All-new UI with nods to the original
Awesome battery life, with up to 22 hours talk time
FM radio and MP3 player for music
16 MB storage4 plus a MicroSD card slot with support up to 32 GB

    • +2

Yeah but we Australians complained so they did a 3G version too.

I know it's 3G for sure because I have one.

      • +2

2g aint much use here. what's the battery life like?

        • +6

Dunno. I stopped using it because it was painful texting hahaha

For the record, bear in mind that this phone has no emoji, no Wi-Fi and no WhatsApp. You can still go on the internet.

          And Snake is harder too!

        • Apparently you can get a week out of it

        • +1

6.5 hours talk time, 27 days standby.

I presume the European version has longer standby being on 2g but as mentioned that s not useful here.

I'm tempted to get one of these and a $10 amaysim plan for my mother in law who cannot keep her phone charged.

        • @TrendyTim: As a dumbphone, it's perfect for those who don't use it much or who are tech illiterate. For others like me who has to have the high-end Android, it's excruciating to use.

        • @TrendyTim: I am looking for a dumb phone for my mum to use as well, she absolutely refuses to learn how to use a smart phone but I'm concerned if the keys are too small for her. Anyone could tell me if Optus or Telstra store might have one on display ?

        • @sistermay:

The box has the phone shown behind a cut-out window and observing the front, the buttons are a little small but look easier to press than other phones with buttons right next to each other.

        • @kerfuffle:

          no wifi ??? wth!

        • +1

@phunkydude: Well the original one didn't have WiFi either ;)

        • @sistermay: look here for ideas & then shop around for prices

          http://www.seniorsphones.com.au/phones.html

        • @TrendyTim: Can it do multiple SMS (where if you type over the character limit of one SMS, it joins several together automatically as an MMS I think it's called)?

        • @GregMonarch: It should automatically append a new SMS to one. Some phones have the option to convert to MMS but I expect it can link up to 6 SMSs together if you have a long message.

        • @TrendyTim: I hardly use my phone so I have a $5 Aldi PAYG sim that I top upevery six months with $15 PAYG, which has 365-days expiry (No data allowance in the standard deal, afaik).
          It's on Telstra 3G networks.

        • @kerfuffle:

What?? No band 28????? Next you will tell me it has less than 256gb of RAM…

          No band 28, no deal…

  • Really tempted, but is it available in other colours as well?

    • +1

From JB Hi-Fi yep but add an extra $20

  • +13

    This or iPhone X?

    • +24

      26 of these..

      • And don't have to wait 2 months. Nokia Just Works, so your 25 friends will be thankful for life.

      • yeah, raid 26 of these…

  • -5

Is this a another expensive land fill like mini NES? :)

  • +1

I remember seeing one of these being kicked like a footy down a flight of stairs and it still worked when the kid went to pick it up. Screen didn't break, back cover didn't fly off, the case didn't shatter or crack.

    • +1

yep, my original 3310 endured lots, including a plunge from 1st floor window, and yet my sister inherited it in usable and even presentable condition. Nokia 3310 was THE mobile phone, I reckon.

      • 3315 takes the crown for me

  • +1

I was so tempted with this until I've read this from news.com.au:
    http://www.news.com.au/technology/gadgets/mobile-phones/i-us…

    • +14

Shock horror a douche that cant live without a smartphone surprisingly cant live without a smartphone so rags on it because it doesnt do what HE wants it to do because most people must want what he wants.

As a backup phone that wont go flat if you remember to change it once a month) its pretty awesome.

  • +6

Sold me on "legendary snake game"

    • It's not the same Snake game like before; it's a lot harder

      • +11

        unsold.

        • Yeah it sucks hahaha even my friend who claims they're a Snake Master had difficulty playing this new version

Snake is one of the main selling points though (as per the Coles catalogue); it's point two on the box 😂

      • +2

Who doest like a harder snake?

      • +2

But but but but the nostalgia

  • +6

I can't explain why, but I'm buying this

    • +1

Me: I should wait for a lower price $70 seems a little high.

Also me: DUSTY PINK NOKIA 3310 OMG.

    • are you going to use it?

    • +2

      username checks out

  • +1

I really don't like my phones being dusty.

    • My XZ Premium is dust-proof, so I don't mind it :p

  • +4

Awwww shiiiiit! Comments apparently confirm it's gonna be 3G! Well shit, I might actually get one.

    • I should have known those alien maggots booby-trapped this sub.

      • I'm gonna rip off your head and shove a Nokia 3310 down your neck.

        • Looks like it's time for me to go postal!

  • +2

    b28?

  • +1

How does this phone compare with the new iPhone X?? Saw a great deal for $2 off the new iPhone…

This new iPhone at this price could be the next high yeild investment opportunity for Westpac employees…

    • HAHAHAHAHA!

  • Will work with Voafone MVNOs, in particular Kogan without unlocking?

  • What’s the camera like on these things?

    • +3

Do you like pixels in your photos?

      • Is there any other way?

    • Better than using a potato. But not by much.

      Edit:
To be fair, I bought a blue 3310 a couple of days ago. It does exactly what I want it to do. I've got an ipad on a good data plan, so all I need is a phone for voice/text only, as everything else is done through other apps.

It's a great little phone after all of 2 days experience. But photography isn't it's strong point. :)

  • +10

I actually want one of these as my work phone so I don't have to check emails.

  • +6

Fantastic phone at the time, however some things are better left in the past.

It was like when I watched the original Astro Boys cartoon recently. I was a huge fan when I was 5yo but was very disappointed when I watched it in my 30s.

    • +1

Haha totally!! Did exactly the same thing. Such good memories of watching Astroboy at my grandma's house while sitting in a beanbag…..now ruined forever. :(

    • +2

Yep, some things are best left in the past with the sparkling memories imo.

  • Nice.

  • This would make a great granny phone too. I mean the easy push number keypad buttons. Old style!.

  • +4

Interested in getting one for 2-factor authentication purposes, separate from my main service. Standby time would be a priority and it seems to lead the pack in that respect.

    • That's actually really clever.

  • -2

anyone interested in buying this for everyday use may find this article helpful.

    http://www.news.com.au/technology/gadgets/mobile-phones/i-us…

    • +4

Yeah, who would want a phone that… makes phone calls.

Wotta tragic. Walking through life like a zombie, head down, looking at a screen. LOL.

Matthew Dunn is the poster child for self indulgent, narcissistic, entitled, hipster millennials. His over attachment to anything Apple is obvious through every column tripe he spews forth. He is the opposite of objective and his running commentary runs more like a paid infomercial than it does actual journalism. If it’s not about Apple, it’s about his push bike fetish. If it’s not about his bleeding heart crusade on push bikes, it’s a piece about tinder. Guy looks more like he would be at home on Grindr than tinder.

Matthew Dunns opinion isn’t worth the digital paper it’s printed on. He would have more credit to his stories if he stopped taking cash/incentives from Apple and got a grip on reality. Here, Frankenbeanie, have a neg vote for a: promoting his garbage stores and giving him any more reader base than he deserves and b: for citing one of the biggest (profanity) to ever have a platform to give his dumb arse opinions on and lastly, c: referring to anything this idiot writes as “helpful”…

  • dumb, and not just the phone.

    • Dumb/old school style is maybe better for some folks. You should see some nannies and grandpas try to use a smartphone. It's like trying to teach a child and getting no where with it.

  • Does anyone know how to unlock these phones?

      • Unlocking fee is USD$22.99. I guess no..

        • +1

Pay $20 more and get an unlocked one at JB Hi-Fi but you can't get it in Dusty Pink, only Charcoal or Azure

  • +1

Went in just then and asked if they had pink but only red and it wasn’t ticketed on sale, she checked for me and the red is $69 on sale. Don’t think pink exists. OP edit?

  • +1

Now it's $79 but comes with 3000 bonus FlyBuys (worth $15 off at Coles).

flybuys: 3000 points offer until 14/11/17. flybuys card must be presented at time of purchase. Points awarded after savings and discounts and may be credited up to 8 weeks after expiry of offer.

Also the catalogue shows blue but doesn't limit it to particular colours.

  • Edit - Just checked my two local Coles in SA - both Red, both $79. No idea about a Dusky Pink one.

Turns out well, I've been chasing a red one for Xmas gift and never thought of looking in Coles!
