  • That screen is a letdown though, only 60hz and 72% colour gamut. But a good deal nonetheless.

    • You can always connect it via HDMI to a monitor.

    • Definitely an average screen - but consider the power it packs and also in such a small form factor and weight.

      • The system bottleneck is most likely the CPU.

        • That would depend on the game as it is not a slow CPU, similar speed to a i7 4970k desktop CPU, which many people would happily game on.

    • ASUS website says 120hz

Some monitors only do higher refresh rates with G-Sync or FreeSync, when that isn't enabled they run at slower rates. Maybe that is the discrepancy, not worth gambling, probably best to ask them.

  • I have this exact laptop from the last deal….

Def is a 120hz panel. incorrectly listed as a 60hz based on the Intel 6700HQ version. The gen 7 is 120hz

    • Interesting.. They have quite clearly pulled the description from here:

      https://www.asus.com/us/ROG-Republic-Of-Gamers/ROG-GL502VS/

      Which would be 6th gen.

      7th gen is this:
      https://www.asus.com/us/Laptops/ROG-GL502VS-7th-Gen-Intel-Co…

      is that what you received?

Seems 7th gen also can come with 60hz panel

      • Contacted seller, confirmed it is ASUS GL502VS-GZ233T

      • +1

My invoice states it is a AsuGL502VS-GZ233T, same as the description in this listing.

When changing the refresh rate of the laptop panel, I can select 60hz or 120hz.

Here's the asus article explaining the difference :)

        https://rog.asus.com/articles/g-series-gaming-laptops/take-1…

"If you’re looking for the ideal blend of performance and portability, the right ROG gaming notebook can be narrowed down to two choices: the 15.6" Strix GL502VS and 17.3" Strix GL702VS. The 7th-gen models are virtually identical apart from their screen sizes, and both boast NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics paired with G-Sync goodness at refresh rates up to 120Hz."

      • When mine arrives this week i'll confirm. I was happy without the 120hz screen so thats a bonus if it has it.

        • Can confirm 120hz.
