This is the 2016 version that does not come with a remote controller like the 2017 version. Otherwise, there is not much difference between the two devices. If you have the newer Galaxy S8+ or Note 8, you can not use them in the 2016 version. Its a pretty good deal if you have the Galaxy Note 5, S7, S7+ etc.

  Here I was thinking "Cool, I can pick up a cheap VR headset" but nope. It still won't suit my phone. Just upgraded from Note 4 to Note 8.
