Free 200GB OneDrive Storage for Telstra Customers (New and Old)

3040

Was looking for free back-up storage and came across this. The interesting thing is although I "had" a Telstra broadband account 3 years ago, I still could use my Telstra online account and get the free 200 GB storage on OneDrive. Dunno if it's a mistake, but I'm not complaining!!!!
This is an ode to previous post of tightarse. But then again, may help a few new members

        • @pennypincher98:
ADSL2+ can’t get up to 10Mbps upload. To get 3.3 would be great, but you’d have to have Annex M and even then I’d be surprised.

        • @Maddman: There's this Telstra green box thingy in my front yard so I seem to get much quicker speeds than my neighbours.. Could that be the case?
I'm fairly certain it was around 3.3, not always but optimal speeds. Average speed of 2.5-3

    • Works with existing account now, and pretty much any .edu email address qualifies for the office 365 deal

  • To reach the 200GB limit with my superfast™ Telstra copper connection would take one month of continuous uploading…

    See you in November!

    Thanks, OP. Redeemed.

FYI for everyone else interested, - I got this message upon completion:
"Telstra will be able to add bonus storage to your account. It will also be able to remove this storage (but no other storage), at any point in time.
You can change these application permissions at any time in your account settings."

Edit from the fine print: "Currently, you can enjoy this offer for free for 2 years. After 2 years, you will have the option to purchase it on a monthly basis."

Op might want to add this

Revoke permissions from telstra having access to your onedrive account to add or remove data here: https://account.live.com/consent/Manage the 200gb remains likely after telstras 2 years as they will be unable to make changes to your onedrive.

    • Thanks, that worked. Telstra had blocked me adding any more files after it expired and not I’ve got full access again!

      • I'm curious, do you know if you were upload blocked from the entire onedrive, or just the telstra 200 gigs? I guess you'd only know if you weren't already eating into the 200 though

        • Unfortunately when I used this deal it wouldn’t let me add it to my existing Onedrive account, so I created a new one. So I have a 205Gb account just using the Telstra bonus (5gb came with new accounts back then.) Others have said that you can add it to an existing account now though.

  • Great thanks +1

  • Ohhh to upload 100GB of photos is gonna take ages at 1Mbps
    ;(((

    • About 9.3 days!

      • I wonder if NBN with Telstra will be faster then my ADSL2 ??? Bit upload and download

        I get 13Mbps down and 0.86-1.2Mbps down

    • I was using Amazon Glacier as my cloud based backup prior to OneDrive, and then had to transfer almost 300gb to OneDrive on an ADSL link (it took about 5 weeks from memory with my link shaped to ~800kbps. Yeh, it takes a while…

      Other options:
Take a laptop to a Telstra Air store hotspot - you will get much higher upload speeds
      Borrow/beg/steal from someone with NBN

  • This is not really a deal is it ?

    • 163+ later someone realised this is not a deal!

  • i wonder does this 200gb storage space expire~

    • 2 years

  • onedrive wasnt as good as before in windows 10 compare with windows 8 due to the placeholder function got replaced , but it is coming back in the fall creators update!

On a business account with Telstra and still can't sign up for this offer. Thumbs down from me

    • +1

This offer is for new and existing Telstra customers with Pre-Paid, mobile on a plan, mobile broadband or home broadband service.

Please read before you hit neg dude

      • -1

No Sh#t, if your telstra account doesnt match your onedrive account it won't apply the promotion. So that's a neg from me until telstra fix the problem

        • +1

Sheesh man! You're so negative. 250+ people benefits from this and due to "your personal" account problem you negative a deal? Personally I don't give a damn if you do, but SMH!!

        • @samsal46:

I just dark on the deal because it's not available to Business customers

  • I tried it on my old Telstra Broadband account login, didnt work.

    • -1

Me either, don't neg the deal though you might upset someone. People are so sensitive these days

      • You're right! People are sensitive about unjust negatives. And you can see the admin removed the negative deal. If you didn't get the deal and many many many did, it must be your issue. And not the OPs. So be kind to one another. cheers

  • Also on a business account with Telstra - sim only post-paid plan. After going on 24/7 livechat they tell me I need to be on one of their bigger plans to be eligible. Of course - that's how they get you to upgrade!

    • They told me I needed to call my telstra shop to fix the error. Did that and still doesnt work.

  • Thanks I never knew about this! Just got 200gb!

  • Hope you have a decent connection speed to make good use on the 200 GB space.

  • I know some people are saying this is not new - therefore is not a bargain that should be posted, but it is new to me and is a nice upgrade. Thanks OP.

Makes up for the 10GB Microsoft gave and then took away!

  • I get this error message, using an old telstra account I can still login to buy telstra movie tickets etc…but won't give me the onedrive :(

"Hmmm… you don't seem to be eligible for this offer as you're not the registered account owner. Please log in as the registered account owner to redeem this offer."

  • How do you stack this with the Samsung OneDrive offer? I dimissed it at the start and cant find it again ….

    • Answer is: uninstall OneDrive app on phone, reinstall App, sign in again and get presented with offer … and this time accept …

  • Microsoft was unable to set up your OneDrive bonus storage at this time. It may be a technical glitch so please try again.

    • Yep thats what I got. It means you have an account ID but it has no services linked to it and apparently isn't eligible. So to get an account with a service…
      .
Go to the top of this page and click on the link just below 'For those who just needs a Telstra account'
Telstra will send you out a free account in 2 business days I'm told and then you can get the 200GB

      • Cheers. I activated a $2 SIM and waited till it showed on the My Account dashboard before I tried to redeem the 200GB OneDrive bonus. I tried it again today and it worked. There must have just been a bit of lag in updating the backend.

  • Sigh. i missed the Level 4 100GB offer by a few months, almost on level 5 now

  • Sorry for the No0b question. I got to the last of the three pages in the Tel$tra free sim signup page (as I only have home line rental with Tel$tra, so I figure I'll need the free sim to have something to qualify with?), and before I click 'confirm', I wondered if this would then commence porting my mobile number over to Tel$tra, which would be no good for me! I read all the T&C's but I can't understand it properly.. Am I committing to Telstra if I order their free sim? They did require my mobile number when I was filling out the info..

    • Take it as a new connection. They will give option to port number, and don't port your old number. They need an alternate number for contacting you in case.. that's all. But make sure you are not porting. Call them up and tell them you want a second connection and they will confirm

  • I clicked redeem offer and it says "THE REQUESTED PAGE CANNOT BE FOUND".

this is the link - help please.

    • I'm getting the same thing. It appears they are aware of the issue if you scroll down to the bottom of that thread. Hopefully they fix it soon, my OneDrive is full of OneNote PDF's!

  • I signed up for a phone on a plan with Telstra early March. But when I tried to redeem the offer online it always fails. After numerous conversations with reps they told me this offer had finished at the end of 2017. Telstra is misleading customers by still displaying this information on their website. Finally they pulled it down a few days ago so I assume it is now officially expired.
