  • Great price, can any owners share insights about the device?

    • I have one and love it. I was showing few mates at work the other day the 960fps slow mo camera feature, they loved it so much that they are planning to ditch their S6 and S7 to buy this. Also, I can't wait to receive the Oreo update as Sony's new 3D Creator app is going to be fun!

      • I'm assuming they fixed the camera software issue on this or it hasn't shown up?

  • Dammit where's the chrome?

    • Unfortunately, It's hard to find the chrome version for any decent price, It's not offered in any phone plans either.

      • +1

Yep, I feel there is no point of this if you aren't getting Chrome.

        • The thing about black though, is that you wouldn't feel as wasteful putting a case on it.

  • +2

I'm not in the market for a new phone this year, but I do hope Sony sticks with this general design for future models. Small but present side bezels and no silly rounded corners cutting out part of the image, plus a headphone jack!

  • The 4K display looks like a neat feature. Is there a workaround or custom ROM to enable 4K res without it being limited to just the photo and video apps?

    • You are thinking of the older model where the Android OS didn't support 4K, but now it does.

    • +1

There is a video on YouTube about how to keep 4k all time, and they claim the battery drain isn't much.

      • So it's possible, but it seems people run into errors that stop normal functioning of the phone.

    • Yes there is a way. Check out the XDA forums.

  • Got a case along the way, although I'm still unsure whether the slight colour mismatch will matter (phone seems slightly blue). If you're getting a screen protector as well as a case, don't forget you'll need one that stays clear of the curved edges!

  • Highly recommend this tempered glass screen protector:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ultimate-Shield-Tempered-Glass-Sc…

It's probably 99% screen coverage (doesn't cover the curved edges).

  • Great feedback cheers, was looking at the HTC U11 but it failed the jerryrig stress test!
What's Au owners thoughts on Sony's warranty care? Ive heard it's not the best, maybe grey stock will drop below $600.

    • Haven't had much luck with Sony warranties on my Xperia Z2 and Z3 that were 'water damaged'

  • dual sim?

    • Listing says G8141, so probably not since the dual SIM one is G8142.

  • XZ1 has just been released with pretty decent reviews. Will be interesting to see how much that sells for.
