    I use familysearch.org, which is free and just as good

  • There's a lot of junk and misinformation within ancestry.com that can lead you down the wrong path.

    Better getting in contact with say Genealogical Society of Victoria.

  • Fair enough. I have no experience with, or comment on, any of these services - just posted here as "free" is a bargain.

  • Avoid that site like the plague, they will still want your cc details for your "free" month.

    Don't just take my word for it;

    • To be fair, many/most sites that offer a free period do the same thing and hope you forget to cancel.
      Ancestry is not perfect, but its not a bad resource for people who want to do this type of research.

      Just use a prepaid card?

      Yep, I just reviewed my paypal and they charged me for redeeming this.

      Scumbags.

    Wouldn't waste your time with Ancestry IMO.

  • Do not fall for this scam. I redeemed the groupon and Ancestry.com has charged me for a month that is clearly described in the terms and conditions as "free". I am disputing the charge now with PayPal.
