Was looking around and found this, looks ok. I'm sure someone is looking at this sort of 2 in 1 laptop.

HP Spectre X2 12-A001TU 12" Laptop M5 128GB SSD
Core M5-6Y54 | 8GB RAM | FHD Touch | Detachable

Common feedback from other user was low res on FHD and battery life may be short. Do some research before open your wallet.

Note on charging. This uses USB C however has some HP DRM that prevents non-HP chargers being used (there was some reports the may 2017 firmware changed this). This otherwise requires 15V/3A to charge which rules out every external battery on the market.

I've got one. One thing that makes this even cheaper than a surface is that it comes with the keyboard and pen. It also has user upgradeable storage from memory.

That said, I think the build quality of the surface is much nicer. I would probably get the surface if buying again.

I own a Surface Pro 4 and I've issued out some HP Elite X2's (similar design, I think only specced differently) to colleagues at work. The feedback I've gotten is similar and my own experience reflects that the build quality on the Surface is better. In particular, the keyboard cover on the Surface has better key travel and the kickstand on the Surface is more sturdy as the Elite X2's one is just the frame. The pen on the Elite X2 doesn't have a magnet to attach itself to the side of the device, but our package (Department of Education's Catalogue package) came with a cable to tether the pen to the device (probably a better option for our work devices… less excuses to lose the pen). The Elite's pen also doesn't have the same "eraser" on the end as the Surface's pen for use in OneNote and other applications. All this aside, yes, the HP is excellent value for money and have ordered more for our staff.

  • Core M5 review? You would think it would have had a bit better battery life with a core m chip.

  • Which one's better this or Xiaomi air 12/13?

  • Does anyone get windows tablet like this one and dual boot with android x86 os?
    What do you all think?

    • Would like to know a good dual boot laptop like this if you have one :)
