With the pink slip offer, just remember that once you have a pink slip done at a certain place, that place must pass it.

In the old days, if you got knocked back on something, you could go do a bit of a dodgy, and then go to a different place for a pink slip.

The last free pink slip I got came with a quote for $600 to pass it. Went to my parents regular mechanic, and he said none of the things listed he would have failed, but he fixed them all up for $240.

The free place was not impressed when I went back with all the repairs done.

    • Lol you legend!

Did you tell them you got it done for 240.?

      • I did. They were not impressed.

They were very much less impressed when I told them a good experience would have seen them get a lot of work.

Pink slips are a good way to see if a mechanic is a money grubbing a-hole, or a decent and honest one.
