You don't often see the Cadbury blocks half price!

thank goodness… just about every other chocolate tastes better…

      • thank goodness… just about every other chocolate tastes better…

You've obviously never tasted Whittakers (the Kiwi brand)….awful, just awful.

        • Whittakers is awesome!

        • -1

With you on that one dude, it tastes atrocious.

      • +4

just about every other chocolate tastes better…

I suspect your on your own there….Cadbury is the post popular chocolate in Oz by a country mile!

        • +7

popular doesnt mean it tastes good - just look at USA and starbucks…

        • +3

I think all you've proven with that is australians like it cheap and nasty… ducks

          • +2

@Pizza The Hut: Australian Cadbury chocolate actually tastes really good compared to some other chocolate I have had when travelling abroad. Some were even labelled as manufactured by Cadbury — but Asian manufacturer(?) — tasted bleh! ;( To be honest, I know many Asians who come to Australia and stock up on Australian Cadbury chocolate to bring home to their families and friends, insisting they taste much better than their Asian variety. So there you go….

            • +1

@scarletshoes: even they are better than most asian chocolate (too much sugar) they taste comparebly low to that of other western brand. Lindt and most aldi chocolate (moser roch and other storck product) taste miles better. with lower price too

            • +2

@scarletshoes: Australian Cadbury chocolate is terrible…I would never buy them even if they were better than half price. Asian cadbury is of course much worse than here but that doesnt mean they are any good. For Woolies Lindt and Guylian probably taste the best in comparison to Cadbury. Cadbury blocks are so crumbly plus they taste terrible.

            • +1

@scarletshoes: Choice did a taste survey a while back. Naturally the gourmet chox got high scores, but of the normal suspects on the shelf, Lindt came first followed closely by the Aldi brand (Moser Roth, IIRC).

            • @scarletshoes: asians usually stock up on lindt and haigh's chocolates..

    • And you don't often see 6L fruit juice at $5 (Just Juice).

It's all due to the extremely favourable exchange rates, actually. That's why we keep seeing stuffs at cheaper price when on special.
They won't lower the normal price / RRP so they don't have to increase it again when the exchange rates are not favourable anymore…plus they are getting higher profit margin, of course they'll take as much as they can make.

      • +1

Just Juice is all reconstituted… probably imported too…

      • +1

Coles have many more varieties with Berri till Wed 2.4L for $1.99,

    • Time to try the new limited edition Stawberries and Cream variety :P

      • dont bother imho, it was horrible, i thought about sending it back to cadbury, although i did think to myself "oooh" when i first saw it lol

  • +3

The Melbourne zoo will be happy that Huggies Jumbo Nappies are on special… They have 2 baby elephants now…

  • They are selling full pumpkins (the ones you carve), not sure if its a deal at $26 but haven't seen them anywhere else.

    • I'm sure your local fruit & veggie shop will have them too… They don't buy them pre-cut at the markets…

    • They have them at Costco (VIC) as well.. can't remember how much they were though.

    • +1

I have seen them at Coles, and I'm 90% sure they were $13.

  • Thanks, I look forward to these things to make my weekly shopping list.

K&R hot dogs are half price in my catalogue(town hall sydney).

    • Not as nice as Don's…

      • Yes. But at half price, it's better value for money me think.

    • I like the skinless american ones, have a pack in the fridge right now but no hotdog buns :(

so over these supermarket specials!!! starting to flood oz bargains….. ohh Cadbury blocks half price… + for that…

    • +1

you'd rather they just sell everything at full price ???

    • +1

I beg to differ. It's very useful for me as I don't buy stuffs unless it's discounted.
Saves me lots of time flipping through those pesky catalogue…especially when you have to do it online.

      • -1

JV not saying i want to pay full price, just spamming up the place….

however, true, would be a pain to flip though and find your own… maybe need a special section on the web site for daily deals and supermarket specials… (eg the ones that constantly post)
so you have the normal boards for the specials that are special, and another board for that specials that are always on special, just something different each time…

also the above comment was a bit tic… on one hand saying over them, then on the other pointing out a reason why they are on here. (ohh chocolate on sale!)

        • +2

There's only one, maybe two posts a week.

          • +2

@Yuri Lowell: yep, one for Coles and one for Woolies…

Can't see how that can be seen as "spamming up the place" ????

            • -1

@jv: then there is there are others such as (not so much any more) catchoftheday, prices engine, oo, daily gizmo, logitech shop, etc etc etc, the ones that always have specials… should create a stores page each having there own section…

just think they can be handled better.

              • +2

@wisc: thats why we have ozbargain in the first place??? what else left when you get rid those away???

                • -1

@antzz: read it again, i'm not saying get rid of them, i'm saying they should be grouped so they don't take up all the space…

which is typically what we do anyone with deals from one place…

                  • @wisc: im guessing your suffering from mondayitis, or you work for the fun police? lighten up dude

                    • @infernal_max: man did you even read the comments before negging each one… dont see what the issue is with having a separate page sorted by business… (possibly with the ability to consolidate)
most of the bargains here are from the same business, would be good to be able to have those of a high volume not dilute the other bargains.

purely coming up with ideas to enhance the site.. yet thats not a good thing?

    • +2

keep them coming.. dont you see they usually attract 30 over + everytime they are posted.. better than most COtd deals i reckon, at least the expiry date are longer

  • I feel like a fool for buying Sistema Klipo containers! They have been half price for months now!

    • +1

Yeah I was going to get one on the weekend too then I went ' wait a minute, this price is what it should be, this isntnt cheap" and I put it promptly back. :)

  • Thanks for posting that.

  • OK I think the bargain here are the Nestle drumsticks and Maxibon. At A$1 per piece, that's as good as 7-11s dollar days. Stock up Summer's round the corner!!

    • +3

any deals on cheap freezers ???

    • dont bother with the drumsticks. they changed the recipe and the ice cream is more cream than anything else and full of fluff. its like swallowing air. maccas soft serve cone is better than it.

      • maccas soft serve, srsly? horses for courses, i almost read your comment as " swallowing air maccas" haha

    • +1

      Maxibon FTW!

  • just went and stocked up on chocolate but geez its already been raided and just crap flavours left :(
