I need another inexpensive caddy for adding a ssd or additional hdd to a laptop refurb.

    i just use one of these cable for US$2.03 delivered for the optical drive I took out of my MBP 2012. I haven't worried about a case.

    9mm is the standard slim.. there's only a few specialist caddies that go 7-8mm. Then there's the fat 12mm caddy

    same seller. they seem to have multiple listings of each item one is more expensive than the other.

    better quality plastic and aluminium are available on ebay also

    seriously, it just sits in the optical bay. metal or better plastic makes no difference (I've done half a dozen optical drive swap outs.)
