Yep no deal. Should have done a price check first. GearBest regularly have this on sale for 310-320 AUD now.
Bear in mind as per news on TechTablets that jumper loves revising these. Latest batch have m2 SSD backplate for easy access, more rubber around lips etc. They are into a winner.
This is a 3s and comes with 256gig SSD.
Gearbest is selling it for $341USD.
https://m.gearbest.com//laptops/pp_622023.htmli dont know why my other comment got unpublished but can you tell me if your deal the 3s is better than the 3 pro v4 listed here for around $300aud (64gb)?
Would probably only take a SATA3 SSD and not a PCIe one so whatever price you can get a 256gb SATA3 for on too of the $300. Works out same basically doesnt it.
Just checked and yep it does. Get an Intel or a samsung 850 Evo which is bound to be better quality than what brand they use in their SSD in this model.
Don't know what you're on about but to put a 256gig M2 SATA SSD will cost you about $130-150AUD.
Adding it to the 3Pro will push the price up to about $445AUD.
13.3" vs 14"
64emmc vs 256ssd
$249.99 vs $279.99 (USD)The rest is basically the same.
@HandsomeMonkey: oh wow so a $30 difference for a superior storage option and larger screen
the tradeoff being a plastic body vs aluminium unibody…am i missing something here?
does it have AC wireless and bios unlocked? i saw on techtablets something about 10W thermal limit mod
You don't have to buy it if you think it's not worth it. It is still the cheapest compared to other stores.
@HandsomeMonkey: i never said its not worth it. im saying it sounds like a great deal but almost too good to be true since its only marginally more expensive compared to the "pro" version which is supposed to be better. im wondering why they bothered with the pro version if this version is so cheap and has more storage. i upvoted the deal
so im just clarifying with you whether im overlooking anything
i.e. does it do everything the Pro v4 does minus the alumnium body?
does it have intel AC wifi?
i.e. is the difference really just the build materials and you get more storage as a tradeoff?
@HandsomeMonkey: ok so i had another look
it looks like the difference is that this one is 14" and more storage but plastic and crap wifi card
can i swap the wifi card with an intel ac 3160/3165 or something for like $20 off ebay?
Hmm this or xiaomi mi air?
Xiaomi Air is $489USD.
At least you're handsome.
Thats USD.. AUD is $401.
