  • Flash it with https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/linksys/x3500 and it should work fine with the NBN. Why you would want to, however, I don't know.

    • It says "DSL chipset will likely not be supported"

So it will just be a router. No need to change firmware for that.

You misread the page, says "Should be possible to support". There is no compatible OpenWRT firmware yet, at least not according to the page you linked.

OpenWRT is good, I use it myself. Has options that the manufacturer's software doesn't usually give you, like virtual SSIDs (so one per family member) and quotas. Also good if you have several different routers, it's nice to see the same interface on all of them.

      • It should be possible for you to have an odd billion of Australian dollars in a year time. Does not mean it will ever happen.

Same with ADSL support in OpenWRT.

        • Huh? I thought ADSL works on many chipsets (including this) in OpenWRT. Its VDSL that is the problem.

  • Operating Temperature:
    32 to 104 F (0 to 40 C)

So half of the year you can't use it here?

You're supposed to use it inside your home.

Need to ozbargain an air conditioner. :D

I don't use air conditioner and yes, my room can reach high 30s to 40s.

I anticipate device temperature can go beyond 40 easy in summer.

You live in a shed? Get some insulation.

          I anticipate device temperature

they mean room temp, not inside the device.

          Wont you (ice cream) melt?

    • Well i'm not sure about there but it very rarely gets near 0 Celsius during winter here in Queensland let alone under. Should be no problem.

Can this play N64 games too?

    • Don't think you'll be able to plug in your N64 controller into the ethernet ports though :(

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thinks it looks like a slim version of a n64
