Be aware it may have been the Osborne Park store opening special. This may well return back to normal price come Monday.
Had to get in there by 4PM Saturday for it ;)Excellent price, but might be a good idea to hold off for the 2000-series due in 2018. The current gen. GPUs have been around for a long time.
if you're gonna wait 6 months for the next series, might as well hold on another year the next-next series
Geforce 1000-series is 15 months old now, so the wait is nothing compared with how long it's been on the market for. Fact is, the current gen GPUs are approaching the end of their life and that is always a bad time to buy.
but they're priced higher than they were 6 months ago and there's no real competition from AMD. nvidia shouldn't feel like they're in any rush to release a new line
Best time to buy a card is within 3 months of it's release. I made this mistake in 2012 when building a new PC - bought what I thought was a bargain - a GTX560 1GB for $165 (which was "last year's tech" at the time), in the 2nd part of the year. When I finally got around to building the PC in November, I decided to sell that card, which hadn't even been opened yet, and instead bought a (then-new) GTX 660 2GB for $220, and today I'm still using the exact same card. The 560 would not have lasted nearly this long. Lesson = it pays to wait.
@MrZ:
i respectfully disagree. if you're building a PC right now, you get what's available.if you're not planning on building a new pc for a few months, don't buy.
the real lesson of your story is to not buy stuff, sit on it for a few months and then expect it to be fine. I'd have no problems whatsoever buying a 1070 or 1080 right now as they're still awesome. Only thing wrong with them at the moment is the price. Having said that - once any new models come out, i'd probably keep an eye out for the current series second hand
Great price for Aussie stock. Can get the fancier Asus / MSI coolers from Amazon or Newegg for about the same price but good luck with warranty.
