50% Off Digital Watercolour Portraits from Photos, Now $12.50

150

Hi everyone,

I'm a digital artist here in Tassie. I create beautiful digital watercolour portraits, delivered to you in JPEG and printable on canvas, t-shirts, etc. They're great gifts that can make a memorable photo feel really special.

They're usually $25 per portrait but for Ozbargain people I'm offering 50% off, bringing the total to $12.50 per portrait. I'm just after a little exposure at the moment.

I'm normally able to deliver the finished portrait to you in 24 hours. However if the demand from Ozbargain gets a little busy it might take me a bit longer to get to everyone.

To get 50% off, all I ask is that you share my facebook page to help it get off the ground a bit.

How it works:

  1. Go to https://www.facebook.com/digiwatercolour
  2. Share the page (thank you!)
  3. Send a message to that page mentioning Ozbargain, along with the photo you want me to work with
  4. I'll send you an invoice and have the finished work sent to you in printable JPEG form, normally within 24 hours.

Thanks. Let me know if you have any questions.

        Hi there, no I dont use that. Havent seen it before, looks cool for effects.

      I've seen a lot of those plugins around, and while some of my process is automated with Actions (colour grading), I still do the majority of the work manually.

      Yes probably with some touch ups, but mechanics charge more for an oil change, which is just undoing a bolt and pouring in some oil. For $25 who cares

        But OP is sending JPEG pictures, not the real painting.. I

          Yeah, it's a digital painting. It's not painted on actual canvas. I paint it in Photoshop.

          What do you think would be a reasonable price for the service AG1304x?

        • +3

          @outlander: For OZB: $0.99 ;)

        • +3

          @AG1304x:

          Well shit, if it was 99c! :D

          But on a serious note, if OP is aim to get minimum wage for his/her efforts, he has half an hour to generate these images. Less than that. I could download a pirate version of photoshop, get the plugins, read guides, stuff around and learn how to do it myself, but it would take me at least 4 hours, and at the end of that yes I would know how to do it, and I might make something a little better than I would otherwise get, but I would have diluted my skill pool and spent over $100 to achieve almost the same thing. $25 is very reasonable charge

          edit: Price is actually $12.50, so halve everything I said.

      Probably a mix of both.

      Plenty of people willing to pay for something they could do themselves.

      Ive been paid lots of beer/wine over the years undeleting files off hard drives/usb sticks/sd cards. I even tell people how to do it themselves. Nup I'll give you a slab or two if you can do it. I run auto recovery software. I give them their files back, I get a lot more then $12.50 in booze for my efforts.

      The Op is asking for a cheap six pack in return for some effort (even if it was firing up photoshop & running a plugin). Good luck I say! If it was $120 OTOH….

        Thanks for the perspective Supabrudda. It's definitely a mix of both. A fair bit of professional manual work involved as well as some Photoshop actions to speed up the colouring and exporting. I've gotten faster at the process over the years to the point where offering it at this price doesn't send me broke. I come from a graphic design background of about 8 years.

        Just like you, I can definitely teach people how to do it for free but the price is for the privilege of not having to bother learning and developing the skill in the first place :)

      The free way to do this is gimp with water colour effect. However as @outlander said it will take you time to learn and experiment to develop an effect you like and this assumes that you have artistic talent. Depending on the value you place on your time $12.50 could definitely be a bargain.

    Send a message to that page mentioning Ozbargain, along with the photo you want me to work with

    why would you need to post the personal pictures ?

    • +2

      I work from peoples' photos, so you'd send me the photo you want to be painted.

      EDIT - Oh I see what you meant. No, you'd private message that page with your photo. You wouldn't need to post it publicly.
