    Ingredients are a worry - Labrador (25%)

    • +3

I must be blind where does it say Labrador mine says beef or mutton.

      • but not enough of it to legally be able to call it beef lol,

    • +16

Research has shown that many Ozbargainers are lacking in essential Labrador vitamins and minerals, so this should be good news.

      • I've been tested and shown to have an enlarged weiner.

        • Great news, you've gone from a Micro -> Mini P****

    • +6

Shh, don't tell my neighbour I dobbed in their noisy dog.

and another down vote by I guess another racist to gutless to identify themselves by posting

      NSW says greyhound 90%.

    • So Chumpy, You Can Carve It! "insert Irish accent here"

  • +6

The most beautiful post on this site.

  • +3

    Very meaty post, unbelievable value!

  • Hoho haha

  • +6

    Ingredients

Water, Wheat Flour, Meat (25%) (Beef And/Or Mutton)

Wonder how many they'd sell if they listed how much of that meat is offal

    • +6

      Offal yummmmm

      • -1

Who cares if it is offal?

I have been to many countries… But Australia is the whitest country on earth. America and England eat more than us even (different parts of animal, different animals, different fruits)….

        • Who cares if it is offal?

No problem if they're selling offal pies but they're not…everyone knows these cheap pies and sausage rolls are filled with lips and arseh0les so it's a moot point really.

As noted below it's not really offal just the nasty bits.

I have been to many countries

          Yay you!!

… But Australia is the whitest country on earth.

WTF?? Who are you, Pauline Hanson and Trump's love child from an alternate universe?

The Food Standards Code stipulates that a meat pie must contain a minimum of 25 per cent of meat flesh.

According to the Code, meat flesh means:

‘The skeletal muscle of the carcass of any buffalo, camel, cattle, deer, goat, hare, pig, poultry, rabbit or sheep, slaughtered other than in a wild state (i.e. not bush meat), plus any attached animal rind, fat, connective tissue, nerve, blood and blood vessels’.

      So none

      • +7

I knew I could taste something weird in my last pie - must have been the camel meat!

        • +13

Excuse me waiter, there's a hare in my pie

        • +5

@sourdawg: These pies are normally quite deer to begin with, lets hope there is no bull this time!

      • +7

Blood vessels is very off putting the way it is said lol

        • +3

I once saw a massive blood vessel in my mum's home made fried chicken. Turned me off it pretty quickly.

I still eat fried chicken though - I just learned to not look.

        • +2

@mubd1234: can you imagine biting into the vessel and blood just squirts out like you are biting into a ketchup packet

      • +2

Bugger! I was hoping it would include testicles..

        • Testes are fetching a high price in designer restaurants.

      • @sourdawg:

Fair point, poor choice of words.

Wonder how many they'd sell if they listed how much of that meat is 'attached animal rind, fat, connective tissue, nerve, blood and blood vessels’?

    • +1

They don't need to state a percentage because it is it's all offal silly (or perhaps some reclaimed goodness too).

    • +1

      Only 25% meat? That's offal…

    • 25% Meat (Beef or Other), my god, that means that 75% is???????

      • +1

        Nipples, sweet, sweet nipples.

      • Water and Flour. Mixed with the "Meat" pretty much gives you gravy.

Cheap pies are pretty much gravy with a little bit of meat to give it flavour.

    • +2

If you love something, never find out how it is made.

      • Wise words my friend, wise words.

      • Indeed. Just look at the example of kebabs. Tasty AF but you don't want to know how the meat is made/processed.

  • +4

Yeah but you're not paying for the 75% junk so effectively 100% meat!

    • +2

Haha I like your way of thinking!!

  • +18

    Family Sized

Haha yea right, more like single serve.

    • +2

I personally got disappointed when I realised this took 40 minutes in the oven.. Thought it was a microwavable pie for me to just heat and eat (by myself) :(

      • +1

You can put it in the microwave anyway. 3.5mins

        • +1

Guess I can't really get poisoned from uncooked meat if there's not really any 'meat' in there! Thanks :D

        • +1

Sandwich presses also work surprisingly well for these type of frozen goodies.

        • @pennypincher98: The microwave will heat the inside up really well

        • @dd22qq: ok let me just take my sandwich press on the train with me hahaha
Maybe I could use one of these :) How long do you reckon it would take lol!!

        • @Fobsessive: is that on high for a standard 1200w microwave? I might do this, quick and easy lunch :)

        • @pennypincher98: 3.5 to 4mins for a 4 N 20 pie

        • @Fobsessive: a four and twenty pie is a lot smaller than this one!!

        • @pennypincher98: sorry! 3.5-4 is the time I use for Sargents frozen pies. Over microwaving by a bit doesn't hurt the taste anyway though.

        • +1

@Fobsessive: didn't end up getting one - if you are supposed to heat a small pie for 4 minutes, it would take approximately 15-20 mins to heat up a big pie- that's a lot of radiation and huffy people in the queue!!

        • +1

@pennypincher98: Fair enough! You also avoid the mystery meat

        • @Fobsessive: Yeah Mrs Macs microwavable pies are a modest size, but at least they have meat in them and only take 2-3 mins :D

    • Unless you're bulking you don't need 5000kj in a single meal.

      • Even Woolies seem to think this isn't a family pie!
        "Serving size: 137.5g (3/4 pie)"

  • +2

Anyone notice that the new packaging pies are 'healthier' than the old packaging pies? 3.5 stars vs 3 stars xD

    • -1

You think stars invented by marketers has something to do with health. OK.

Do you also believe in the ticks?

      • It's actually an initiative by the Australian Government if you even did any research on it.

  • +5

I personally like all the hoof, nose and ears and eye balls used in these.

    • +2

I'm pretty sure there's also testicles and scrotums, there's always something really, really chewy and stretchy in them.

      • +1

        You know your testes well.

  • +3

    get it in ya

  • +10

You call this family size despite the fact I'm obviously gonna eat it all myself

  • all stores is this price

  • Judging by the comments, I bet you guys will be disappointed when you find out that "crumbed calamari rings" are often made of pig anal sphincters.

    • +2

Good thing I don't eat crumbed calamari rings, I prefer smashed avocado on toast :P

      • +2

With kale chips on the side.

        • and deconstructed coffee

    • oh no! i love those crumbed calamari rings :(

      • +5

        It's an urban myth

  • +1

OP, I may be old fashioned but for date night I still can't go past Apple Pie.

    • +2

Lol.. it's gotta be warm apple pie..

  • +3

Date night sorted? Lol…would not want to date you 🤢

    • +8

you'd be lucky to get anything from half the people on this site :P

  • +2

    Also a hearty breakfast

  • Unavailable now.

  • +3

    Date night sorted

OK there Jim, just remember to let it cool down first before you f**k it.

  • Combined with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/325943 for $150 pies @ $120? >:D

  • Amazing how many ingedients (in order of volume) they get into this pie:
Water, Wheat Flour, Meat (25%) (Beef And/Or Mutton), Margarine (Animal Fat (Beef), Vegetable Fats And Oils (Palm), Water, Salt, Vegetable Emulsifiers (322 From Soy, 471), Antioxidant (307b From Soy), Natural Flavour (Butter), Acidity Regulator (330), Natural Colour (160a)), Thickener (1422), Textured Soy Protein, Seasoning Mix (Maltodextrin, Yeast Extract, Soy Protein Isolate, Salt, Sugar, Rice Flour, Natural Flavours, Spice, Spice Extract), Salt, Natural Colours (150a (Wheat), 160a), Onion Powder, Hydrolysed Vegetable Protein (Maize), Nutmeg, Pastry Glaze (Milk Solids, Sugar, Natural Colour (160a)).

Give me mummas homemade pie any time

    • Looks like a load of rubbish. For example "salt" is listed 3 times.

      • +2

You need to be a programmer to see the nested parentheses. The first two times it's part of margarine and seasoning mix and the last time by itself. Having said that, doesn't look healthy.

  • Ozbargain certified suitable as "American Pie".

  • Not sure why it's out of stock. Can still order to be picked up from my local shop.

  • +1

    Ew

  • Yep none at Majura Park ACT. Should've logged online to check availability before asking staff for help.
