Any deals for Redmi Note 4 or 4x (4GB/64GB) model

  • i bought the other deal from lightinthebox.. i hope that wasnt chinese version?

    • +1

The 3GB version is the Chinese version, the 4GB is the Indian (Global) version. Although according to GSMArena, the 3GB version is also sold in Malaysia and Pakistan.

In your case it may have the Global ROM loaded on by the supplier.

    • +1

Just received mine from LIB, OS is not the chinese version.

      • so it passes safetynet, can play poke-go ? yay ! btw mine's still processing 10 days after purcahse

        • +1

Just tried playing it and it works fine, no issues.

        • @jominix: great, thanks heaps for that - appreciate it !

    You mean this deal?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/320934

Had a look at the Q&A section:

    Global or International?

Is this Global or International version? Does this ROM support OTA? Thank you.

    by: Aaron - Aug 02, 2017

    Answer:

it is international It does not have such function Thank you for shopping with us

    by: Lucia - Aug 02, 2017

    Soo yeah…

    TLDR: "International, No OTA"

    • OTA is built in the MIUI OS, it should be there: http://en.miui.com/thread-560398-1-1.html

      • Thanks for the clarification something seemed off to me.

    • that is the deal i meant yeah.. i mean i ask cos my Bluboo just failed safetynet (it had been fine for months) but now i can no longer play poke-go with that phone, and i bought the xiaomi mainly for poke-go so it's really going to suck for me if it also fails google safetynet test :/

I read 'needs rooting' and I came running
This is just about a phone ?
    Dammit

    • I was thinking I should hang a "needs rooting" sign on myself for when my wife gets home…

she'll probably staple divorce papers to my chest

Try Roses - translation to female:-
        I love you -
        and translation back to male:-
        I'm horny
        More subtle

Or my method when I go clubbing
        A club

    • I read 'came running' and thought you came while you were running

  • Instead of Rooting why don't you simply use the Global ROM available at en.miui.com, which includes Google Play by default and gets rid of the ads and some of the dedicated Chinese apps while remaining on the original ROM.

Else you could unlock the phone, change the boot loader and load a completely different ROM. More info at XDA

If you want an even better deal go for a Redmi Note 4, much better phone, although it does jump from being a 5" to 5.5" phone, that may bother some people. If you search for it, you can get it for under $200. Like this previous deal.

    Redmi Note 4 Prices

      5" phones are so rare these days ;-;
I want a nice small phone!

      • Also depends if you want 1080p or just HD.

      • +1

I would say that you would be better off with the Global version of Redmi Note 4. It is pretty much the same as the 4X (they even have the same code name - mido) but the Note 4 has more LTE bands, so it will have more compatibility. Check out the comparison given on the AliExpress link.

If you're comfortable purchasing from AliExpress, I would suggest this one I've purchased from the seller before with no hassle, I paid for quicker delivery too.

Or you can find it at GeekBuying or Banggood.

Make sure you use Cashrewards or hunt for promo codes to bring the prices down even further.

        Good luck.

    • What does Rooting means ? I might need a new cheap phone in a few months. My phone works sometime and others time it doesnt …

      • Rooting is something Jesus may not approve of unless you're married :p

In simple terms; for Android it's a way to gain full administrator privileges to the Operating System. The problem with doing it, is that a lot of the financial applications will fail to work once rooted as it can leave you vulnerable to attacks.

        • lol Im married … No Jesus does not approve, hence is he offering a way out for our sins.

So it will be bad, if I do banking with that phone ? Can I unrooting it later ?

        • @frewer: To my knowledge some banking apps may not even work at all so you won't be able to do banking. I believe there is a way to un-root the phone. But if you're going for the Redmi Note 4 or 4X, as long as it's the Snapdragon version you should be able to put the Global ROM on it, which comes directly from Xiaomi and has Google Play on it.

          Hope that helps

        • @biganthony10: So the Global ROM will be less vulnerable to attacks ? And more official-ly …

        • @frewer: Not less vulnerable to attacks, as the attacks will come just the same, just more secure. Think of it like your PC account, you can have a standard user (no root) or an Administrator (root). The chances of doing some really nasty stuff with are standard user are less than that of an administrator, so on Android mostly financial apps will detect that and not allow their apps to function, as the risk is high.

In regards to being more official, the Chinese ROM and the Global ROM are both official, the difference is that the Chinese ROM is for the Chinese market so it doesn't include Google Services, instead it has all the Xiaomi Services, but usually also includes ads and only has 2 languages (Chinese and English), the Global ROM is made to cater for other countries where Xiaomi sell their phones, like India, Spain, Malaysia, etc. So it removes the ads and some of the Xiaomi services and adds Google Services.

        • @biganthony10: Ah right, thank you very much for that !

  • This or a galaxy s5?

  • Okay need to make a decision this or the Redmi Note 2 for or Leagoo M8 Pro both for $80USD? Please halp.

    • +1

This, though forget about warranty if your joybuy'ing.

      • Why 4A over the Note 2 though? I'm losing screen size and resolution although gaining an extra gig of ram for around $30USD more.

    • Leagoo is more likely fail safetynet so i would avoid that if possible personally

    • +1

Leagoo 8 pro does 4g and 3g on second sim. Redmi Note 2 will only work with 1 4g Sim as 2g has been turned off the the telcos.

      • Redmi Note 2 will only work with 1 4g Sim as 2g has been turned off the the telcos.

o.O thanks for pointing that out! I just read that it can connect to 4G on both sims but once you put 2 in, one of them will revert to 2G only -_- that's not such a big deal since this phone will be for my mum and she doesn't need dual sim tbh.

  • Dual sim means, is it both 4g standby?

  • "Needs rooting"

    Don't we all.

    • Age: 22.
      Sex: Yes please.

  • Back on.
