Found this deal thought others might be interested Cheapest i found in Oz was AU$750 at warehouse1
~$AU price using MasterCard rates converted from $US. If you pay in $AU on Amazon and allow them to conver it will be a higher price.

It's not EVGA, so you will rely on Amazon to fulfill it.
I'm thinking pulling the trigger soon but does is it by any means difficult through Amazon or something?
No Amazon are fantastic.
Best support I've ever had, twice!
Good card, got one from the Massdrop deal not long ago ($450USD / $615 AUD)
Overclocked it by 100mhz GPU / 200mhz ram, boosts to 2025mhz, sits at 60-70C @ 50% fan speed under full load (pretty much silent), could overclock it more but the performance is fine
Here's a screenshot: https://i.snag.gy/NIc3fp.jpg
FPS capped to 142 on my 144hz monitor so g-sync is always active
Second case I know of cheap Giga cards being monster overclockers. I think their basic cooler design performs a lot better than EVGA.
Pretty much all 1080's will do 2000mhz, 2100mhz seems to be the max (they are core limited by nvidia)
I'd focus on a good cooler to keep things quiet and cool
not really unless youre really lucky, my Gigabyte Aorus XE 1080Ti only reaches 2050-60, cant go above it, with memory clock + 260-270
2.1ghz are watercooled
they are core limited by nvidia
They're limited by cooling performance.
@Diji1: If that was true, liquid cooled could boost much much higher, but they all cap out at 2100mhz
Some good information on 1070/1080's below
He reviews 9 1080s, runs down the pros and cons of each card, does in game performance testing showing the game play

what d o you do with so much power
VR porn ;)
But seriously, once you get a 144mhz monitor you need to put out a constant 144fps (60fps is for filthy casuals)
I find it funny that consoles are only now making a big deal about 60fps when the PC master race has been doing that for ~5 years
If you think 60fps looks smooth (and more importantly reduces input lag, the delay it takes for an action to be registered and rendered on your screen) you should try 144fps
The only problem with glorious 144hz is if you have to use a 60hz monitor occasionally it looks like the mouse and everything is lagging.. still worth it.
dude!!!, run DOOM with a 1080 and a 144hz monitor, orgasmic…
Or 1440p if you want that sexy quality
@badjazy: Yeah, that's what I'm running. 1440p @ 144hz on an ASUS ROG PG278Q w/ G-Sync
G-Sync eliminates all screen tearing without having to use V-Sync
@TheMoDz: might just buy Doom when I get my 1080.
@nobarginsarehere: An incredible monitor. No doubt everything looks amazing on it.
can it run minecraft 30720x17280 @ 2304fps?
Thanks OP, can you please edit the title so it's shorter though?
Hopefully with the imminent release of Vega we will see some good deals from now
I'd love to get my hands on Vega.
Excellent first time post op, and welcome to Ozbargain :D
Most importantly does it mine well?
Yes that's what Gimli son of Gloin cares about
If it were grea value and mined well per $ then it would have driven the price up to even out, like with all the good chips these days.
Let's just say there's a reason it's cheaper than a 1070 :p
doh!!!! just bought 1070 for not much less than this…oh well
No it isn't?
Depends what you want to use the card for.
I've witnessed a 1:1 swap of a 1080 for a 1070.
Better in what way?
Eth and Zec mining ;)
The 1070 actually mines FASTER than the 1080.
That's why only gamers want the 1080, hence it's the same price as the 1070.
So don't expect 1080 prices to fall if 'bitcoin crashes'. Not that bitcoin can be mined with GPUs anyway lol
I'll just wait a year and buy it for a fraction of the price.
Why do that, when you can get the model released next year the year after for a fraction of the price? Or wait another year, and get the model released the year after next year a year after that?
yes you can do the same with property in Sydney or Melbourne…
Except one goes up and the other goes down.
That's certainly the smarter way to do it in terms of money.
Damn, already ordered $500 worth of goods from Amazon, don't want to get stung with GST…
wait for it to dispatch then put in a separate order… and then another
No.
Customs have the right to consider items posted separately to the same location as a single order for GST
didn't know this. Ship one to work/your mum
FYI I think packages need to be within a month timeframe and from the same seller for customs to do this.
Since I'm not 100% on details, check the customs website
@justtoreply: yeah, I bought 2 phones from one of those "let's mark up the price 15% because I'm targeted for 20% off" ebay sellers and they shipped them separately on the same day. No issues with customs.
Yeah customs usually don't from what i hear. But the only guarantee would be not to do it.
From July next year it won't matter, we'll cop gst on all imports. And
customs can revalue items already, so "gifts" may not work.
@justtoreply: :(
MAGIC deal, OP.
Any 1080TI deals around at the moment?
EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC Black Edition GAMING 990.81 AUD delivered
newegg is $40 cheaper again on that card. ordered it yesterday, $950 delivered.
What has been the lowest price the GTX 1080?
I've seen em under 500 (use) regularly… But the Aussie dollar wasn't strong… (And brand dependant)
They are only so much $$$ because Bitcoin has gone up so high…
When it goes down… People will sell to recoup money… Given they only take a few months+ to recoup the card costs… People have made there money back so it's pure profit
nobody uses a 1080 for mining. A 1070 is much better and cheaper/similarly priced
I ordered one from Amazon for $595 in the last deal, but it took too long to come back into stock, so I cancelled it and bought one locally instead.
How are these for 4k battlefield
http://www.anandtech.com/show/10325/the-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1…
Should be able to hold a minimum of 30fps in multiplayer without MSAA on.
The 1080ti is a fair bit better:

Ok thanks i think ill go for the ti unless the new amd cards are better bang for buck
Hi, I'm new to this. Do you just select pay in US currency and your card will automatically convert from AUD to USD for you?
Your card will convert from USD to AUD at your banks exchange rate. This is why using 28degrees in preferential
Doubt we will see the $550 1080 for a very long time, guess I will be waiting for that $600 card. Haven't seen a reasonable deal like this for a while however.
we should now Vega about to hit the market
NVIDIA still the top dog. but i will support AMD this time
Actually it's looking good: Vega seems to have performance slightly above GTX 1080 at the same RRP which should drive prices down.
From what I gather, anything past a gtx 1070 is wasted (for now) if you don't have a 75+hz monitor, or don't have a monitor res higher than 1080p. Even 1440p is fine for gtx 1070. Good price though, but ideally there would be a way of getting the 1070 for a cheaper price.
I was thinking about going up to 144hz, but there are no 24" ips panels with 144hz (at any resolution) :( . So I'm going to stick with my cheap LG ips and a 1070 for a few years.
I got myself a Korean 1440p IPS monitor for like $400 when I got my 970 a couple of years ago.
It is overclockable to 110hz. Very nice. Been super pleased with it.
Now I'm grabbing this 1080 to actually be able to max out graphics and hit quality my monitor can do!
damn! What model and/or brand specifically? I might look into them as a future purchase. Wish my cheap LG overclocked to >90hz :P, only managed 74hz.
It's a Crossover 2795QHD, 27". They're definitely worth looking into. I'm not sure what the current Korean monitor scene is like, it changes a fair bit.
Finally a 1080 posted at a price that doesn't make me want to say "buy the 1080ti for a few dollars more"
Got one. Will be a nice upgrade from my 2.5 year old 970.
Combining with that zero final value fees eBay promotion to sell my 980*2 SLI setup ^-^ should come to straight swap, but I'll lose 15% power if the drivers are optimised for the game, but gain more options for future!
Will have to play ps4 for ten days or so until my 1080 comes from USA though :(
Ooh, I didn't know that was a thing! Might be worth selling on eBay now.
Nevermind, I don't have that promo.
I love how all the mining related (mostly my) comments are getting voted down here :D
do you .. not know why?
:)
Mine is already preparing for shipment.
EDIT: Nevermind. That doesn't mean it's in stock. It DOES mean they have charged me for it now though.
Shipped!
I'm not familiar with the warranty process of ordering items from Amazon. Would I have to buy the 3-Year or 4-Year protection provided by Amazon or does the card itself come with a warranty?
Another $10 USD drop. It's getting closer!
Seems to be now saying that it is only open to Amazon Prime members which from my (brief) research doesn't appear worth it for Aussies as the free shipping wont work internationally. Was this how the deal was originally or has it changed?
The price shot up by 80USD today, although the item is out of stock for the time being, could revert back to 500USD when stock is replenished. Just check back again in a few days time. Otherwise, at 580USD it's not a deal.
Got mine on Friday. Pretty awesome so far.
Nice card bought one last week hows the warranty on this one though
