Incredible specs for the price if you're after a gaming laptop, but considering it's 1.6 grand, warranty from the US might be a bit of a turnoff.

Agreed.
I bought the Acer Predator 17" with 1070 last week, similar coin. It would be great to see more deals from JW Computers (if they were as good as that). As noted by OP, warranty for gaming laptops is worth considering.
Damn I envy you. That was a good laptop. I am still happy though as I want 2k screen minimum now. FHD doesn't cut it for me anymore haha lol.
Yeah, screen res could def be higher… Hard to get it all for a reasonable price.
I don't understand why you'd want a gaming laptop, isn't the smaller screen annoying?
I live in an apartment, the TV is on, I'm on the couch playing Witcher 3. With a laptop legrest the screen is about 50 cm from my eyes, proportionally larger than my 50" TV.
If I had a study or space to game, I would be less sociable, so its a compromise.
GTX 1060 6GB has been very sturdy for me on a PC, I don't see the need for the 1070 honestly.
mining?
Why would you buy a laptop for mining though? Unless you're asking me if I mine in which case no I don't.
@bananabendera: I guess that's what dwarves by laptops for.
I have a 1080 Ti and it's still not enough.
I am a bit worried on the temperature with 1070 in a laptop.
Why?
Global we warming
LOL. Switch over to the Amazon Currency Converter and the price suddenly becomes $1705.07 AUD shipped. What a rip.
Being over $1k there would be duty payable wouldn't there?
Seems to be included in the final price in the Amazon sale, under import fees deposit.
"Import Fees Deposit USD 118.87"
This gives some information about it. The required import fees seems to get passed onto customs through the shipping company. It's included in the Amazon sale order total price for this.

So it should be $1633 AUD no more to pay.
For what it's worth you can still get the Acer Predator Helios 300 for $1050 USD.
This comes out cheaper just add a 1tb HDD for $50-100 USD.

Very negligible gain but i think this deal comes with some free packaged software so eh.
Also getting the Helios means you have to open it up and tinker with it yourself which can be a deal breaker like it is for me. But some may like it.
Gigabyte has a warranty dept in Clayton, you might be able to deal with them instead. I have had good experiences.
Unless you buy a model which specifies 'International Warranty', they won't cover units purchased overseas.

This is from on Amazon product description for this laptop. It's saying this laptop has 2 years global warranty. So yes you could take it to Gigabyte in Australia and get it fixed under warranty.
