      • OK Thank you.

  • How to select battery? My Holden astra currently has Century DIN65L MF: http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/Century-Car-Battery…

Do I have to buy the same one for I can replace it with: http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/SCA-Car-Battery-DIN… or something else?

The difference is in CCA ( not sure what that is) and Maintenance (Century says maintenance free while SCA one says low maintenance - again I dont know what maintenance is required).

    Please help.

They have a vehicle selector on their site that should show what is suitable for your car.

CCA is Cold Cranking Amps - how many amps it can use to start the car in cold temperatures. As long as it meets the specs of your car you don't need to go too high, a lot of batteries will provide more than actually required to start your car. Maintenance free means no maintenance is required on the battery, low maintenance means you may need to pop a cover off every 6-12mths to check the water level, and if low fill it up with distilled water - no big deal really.

The MF at the end of the battery is possibly the terminal configuration - but going by the pictures they have on the site the terminals are on the same sides between the Century and the SCA battery.

      • Thanks for the explanation..so the SCA battery should do the trick?

        • I'd advise verifying it via the SCA Vehicle selector and see if the battery is listed as suitable - this way if it's not, they can be held responsible for recommending an unsuitable product. From the looks of it though (and given the part number is the same aside from the MF) I'd say the SCA battery would be suitable.

      • I think MF = Maintenance Free for this battery, nothing more.

        Battery specs here.
