These things are tiny… No way are they worth more than $2 each…

    • Worth more than $2 to them it seems

    • Do you know what else is tiny?

        Your brain ???

        • Haha exactly.
There's only so much that can fit inside my skull.

You may have more neurons than me but only have 1 synapse

    • I don't know about that. I'd pay $3 each of them. They are bloody tasty. Besides, if the size is your comparison, Maccas Macarons are smaller and they charge $1.95.

  • yum, but I am going to wait till I am back in Hokkaido.

My ex-gf and I laugh about this craze, as a couple of years ago I had the idea to bring them to Australia but as usual didn't follow through.

      Your ex-grand father ???

  • Are these sweet or savoury? Are they based on French laminated pastry?

These things are always overpriced. There's another one called Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart and it's $4.20 EACH !!! RIDICULOUS.

I think $2 each is OK if they are reasonably sized, but I totally agree with you those Hokkaido Cheese Tarts are not worth the price, there are a few in Melbourne and it seems that the hype died REALLY quickly after the shops were opened. I tried it once, seems like you probably can achieve it by blending heaps of sugar and cream cheese together and bake them…..

      • Yup, agree with $2 for a slightly bigger size. But for $4.20, hell no, more expensive than a nice bigger healthier ham and cheese croissant. I would be shocked if Hokkaido Cheese Tarts can survive for more than a year…or maybe 6 months

        • They are also vastly inferior in taste and texture compared to the ones you can buy in Japan. I wonder if it is to do with the difference in locally sourced ingredients or if their recipe is just bad.

I've also tried the ones from Uncle Tetsu in Sydney, also just meh.

For those of you saying that these prices are too high in Melbourne or other eastern cities, I'd like to point out that these are for sale in WA. We pay a lot more for most things here. It's gwttting better with our recession, but we still get ripped off, relative to the east.

    • Being a WA resident, I completely agree with your point.

  • Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tarts just opened in Westfield Carousel (Perth) last week as well.

These Tarts are just yummy. All a bit pricey but yummy none the less.

If you travel to places like Malaysia, it is like 1/3 the price!

    • How is carousel lately. I've not been there fir about five years. I'd like to go for a change but I've heard it's gotten a bit dodgy.
