King K-80 Combination 250J/1000J Whetstone $47.02 @ Bonsai Warehouse on eBay

100
C5OZ

Hi El Cheapo-guys,

in the related deal, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/317445, multiple users asked about a single all-arounder.
While getting a 1000J alone would work in most circumstances, you will inevitably find one of those extremely dull blades that your SO/housemate decided to use to cut on ceramic plates or cast iron pans, disregarding the fact that if wooden cutting boards are made of wood and not of mithril, that is for a good reason.
Or that chef knife that the friend of yours decided to use as cleaver for I do not know what kind of hideous crime against the humanity while making dinner at yours. Yes, most of that stuff is autobiographical.

The 250J side on this combination stone will allow you to take the approach that US love and bring some good ol' democracy to those unruly edges.
Of course don't abuse it, unless you want to make a rapier out of each of your knives.

Original price is $49.5, which is extremely good on itself, especially considering that is Aus based and delivered!
The awesome platform that OzBargain is also kindly reminded me of the C5OZ code (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/305485), that you should be able to use here to get $2.47+ off. Man, this website interface really has tricks up its sleeve! The guy who built it must be out of Star Trek for sure!
And, for the nanotube-wide rectums by and around, you can add Cashrewards (or whatever cashback program you use and works) for the extra $omething-off.

Note that, unless you really need to restrict yourself to a single stone, the other deal is a much better value for money.

Pis.

Might want to put that its a 'Knife sharpener' in the title, as all those numbers might not mean anything to the average person.

Also, are you associated with the seller?

    • +3

      Nope, no affiliation/association.
Posted that only in reference to a previous deal where multiple (3) people mentioned the need of a single all-rounder stone.

Technically speaking is not a knife sharpener.
Don't want to sound like a self-entitled engineer of somethingness, but let's say that if people don't know what a whetstone is, then probably they are not interested by it and would never be. It's too pricy for a "knife sharpener", as comments below suggests.

  • I bought this one for $7 at local asian grocery and it works great with some dishwashing detergent to lubricate and 22.5 degree angle, circular motion. Two sides, one for course and the other fine.

That is an abomination of a website.

aaaaahhhhhhh!!!!! It felt like my eyes were being ripped out of my head. I don't think I could make a website that hard to look at even if I tried. This could be used as psychological warfrae

Sort of like Where's Wally? but in this you look for a can of soup.

      • Exotic is in the title and the design :-)

    LOL WTF
my knives don't cost this much

    • Accusharp cost about $20 and you just pull over then hone on a steel. It produces a edge as sharp as any home Cook needs.

  • people who dont pay lot of money on their knives shouldnt buy sharpening stone like this. it is for sharpen those special steel knives to reach extreme sharpness. for daily normal use, you dont have to pay this much.

    • but a good sharpening stone can cost over 10k aud in Japan. so i dont call this stone expensive. i own a set of chosera stones which is about 100 to 300 aud each stone.

  • This doesn't look like it comes with a stand. Should I buy a stand or can I go without one?

    • Sit it on a solid box when you sharpen?
