      • Lenovo has i7 and graphics card, so about 15% faster CPU, and better at games and graphics intensive programs. If that doesn't help, you have to tell us the programs you use. Not sure about battery life comparison.

        • Editing videos and photos really..no games

        • @j450n74y: Well, I'm not going to do more work than you. Use Google to look up the program you want to use and how deeply you want to use it (e.g. 4k). Type the program name and "system requirements" into google.

    • Ux330 is Asus not Lenovo.

      • Comparison of two laptops around the same price

    • If you are looking at the dedicated graphics card from i can tell benchmarks say it is junk, but i dont game so you should get a comment from someone else.

The benchmark of the intel HD620 doesnt look all that far off the 940MX.

  • Good laptop good deal! Unfortunately my e420 just won't quit!

Thinkpad laptops are still way more durable than any other brands. I've used Samsung(HDD failed in 4 months), Acer, Asus and Dell(wireless/bluetooth module faided in the first month), they somehow have different hardware/software issues over time. I also owned a Thinkpad R series laptop when IBM still had Thinkpad brand, very durable laptop and fell off from my bed several times at night after I fell asleep.

Now I am typing on E470 (from previous deal i5 version), the build quality cannot match the old Thinpads, but still a very solid machine with a high quality keyboard (it's a shame the keyboard is not back-lit). This Thinkpad will last for many years I believe.

    • Yep. Lenovo is my favourite still. 3 Lenovos, all still working, along with a business class HP (the tank style). Absolutely amazing machines. Only beef is I have a carbon with the F touch bar - awful - but my new T series makes it for it - glad the new touchpads are much better.

Have the T series with an i7, feels even more zippy than my desktop 6600k

  • I bought it from the ebay deal last month. Very solid machine!
However, has anyone else the problem that the power indicator light is not working (i.e. the light on the power button)? It doesn't bother me too much but still ;)

It should be a small yellow light dot on the power button when the laptop is on.

      • Yeah that's what I thought. But mine looks like this:

There is a light but it's barely visible even in the dark

        • Better contact Lenovo and fix it!

I bought it from the ebay deal last month. It was about $750 with ebay discount. Economy build quality for the E series, but below $1000 it becomes a reasonable purchase. The trackpad isn't really good enough quality at its RRP.

I upgraded to Windows Pro using this (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Microsoft-Windows-10-Home-to-10-P…), and upgraded to 16GB using this (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Samsung-8GB-DDR4-PC4-2400T-La…).

I wasnt sure how the Pro upgrade codes work, but its as simple as entering a code and Windows 10 updates itself - no re-install needed.

The downside is its a nightmare dealing with Lenovo. Product didn't ship on time (shipped out of China). Tried to get the Lenovo 14" fitted sleeve to suit it, but its a dreadful fit, and Lenovo tried to claim it can't be returned.

Wouldn't deal with Lenovo again - worse than Dell. I'd probably go for a brand with better customer service, or a more budget laptop maker (Asus, etc).

    • That RAM is the exact same model as the one already provided.

      • Yes I was aiming to match them. However the ram from the ebay seller was actually M471A1K43BB1 (rev3) and not M471A1K43CB1 (rev4) but it passed memory tests, so it seemed ok.

Waiting to buy when it hits the eBay price again

    • What do you mean by this?

Had a good chuckle picturing u whingey people complain as you attempt to lift this 1.8kg monstrosity. Remember correct lifting technique please..

  • Appreciate all the comments but not many seem to have bought? I was hoping to up the memory to 16GB and get it for my Grade 9. Is there anything better out there in comparison please? Many thx

Just FYI the Thinkpad E is the lowest base model line. If you have had good experience on using the T series, X series and Carbon in office and think yourself will get an excellent craftsmanship and design by getting a E, then you should really just try to get a T/X/Carbon and forget about this. The E series is like they use a very basic model of Lenovo laptop and then try to make it looks as if a Thinkpad.

I have been a big fan of Thinkpad until IBM sold it to Lenovo and have been witnessing the design and build quality have gone downhill ever since. They just kept the red-dot trackpoint and no longer innovative as IBM used to be.

The best ThinkPad is still the X230 with the X220 keyboard.

And that's also cheap as hell used

  • Tried to order one via Cashrewards and I'm prompted with this message after inputting TA's coupon code….

"Oh dear … something’s not right. Please call us to complete your order. We’re really sorry for the inconvenience."

Is anyone getting this too? :( Or is it Lenovo trying to dodge the Cashrewards reward :(

    • Ok this is a strange one… If I go via Cashrewards, I'm prompted with the error message; however if I click onto TA's link, I have no problem checking out… Weird

  • What shipping time have people received this in?
My laptop is really on it's last limp!

  • link doesn't work

  • Stocks ran out? Noooo

  • Beside the little problem with the power button indicator light I mentioned before - Has anyone else the problem that the fan kicks every few minutes (just for a 2-5 seconds) when just loading heavier webpages or opening outlook/word? Seems like the temperature spikes up to 60 degrees, fan kicks in but temperature drops down to 40 degrees immediately and fan stops after just 2-3 seconds. Pretty annoying…

The only workaround so far has been to manually manage the fan speed with tpfancontrol (unofficial tool). Even if I turn of the fan completely with the tool, the temperature drops back to 40 degrees immediately. So it seems there is no need at all for the fan to run. I'm not sure if that fan behaviour is normal or if I should make a warranty claim. Already updated the BIOS etc. - didn't help.

  • Missed out on below deal and need to purchase this system if possible please. Tried to contact lenovo through chat and they won't honour,
Can you PLEASE work your magic TA and get us another deal ?

  • Any chance we can get this deal back ?!
