Its mainly carbs and at 334grams per serve, you only get about 16 serves for 5.4kg.
      Is it worth it?
I see some reviews that say it does help you put on weight, but are you using this consistently or as a 1-off.
      Have you tried this?
I am guessing you would only take 1 serve a day, but then its only 50g protein in total.

      • Serious Mass is very effective for gaining mass. It seems with most mass gainer supplements that it is a contest between the manufacturers to see who can get the most calories into a "serving size". That's why the serving sizes of most mass gainer supplements are excessive. I have used this protein before, I am 188cms and 100kg 12% body fat and I only used a rough 1/4 serving size (1/2 scoop). Then you get more like 60 servs and by having two a day it will last you about a month.

You will still need to take an isolate like international protein WPI or optimum whey for your pre and post-workout shakes to get your proper protein intake.

        • thanks for that Musclecoach.
At the moment I take 2 protein only shakes a day plus the following one after workout:
30-35g protein, with about 30g each maltodextrin and destrose. As a quarter serve of serious mass gives 63g carbs (compared to my 60g), I guess this is another way than using weight gainer.
(to be honest though, I have not put on much weight).

do let us know if serious mass will be on special as I might just try it.

          • @mick123: You will find our everyday price for Serious Mass is already the cheapest in Australia.

However I will add a discount coupon to take the price down to $74.95

            Coupon Code: OZBARGAINWHEY4

      • Don't go by serving size, its idiotic. Obviously a mass gainer with carbs will have less servings in a bag of the same size.

Serious Mass is decent, but Real Gains and Mutant Mass are better

  • while these brands taste good they're seriously overpriced last i checked. america sells them for around half this price.

    • absolutely true. but you cannot personally import it so you really have no choice. pretty much all local retailers charge high prices for protein and supplements

  • How much is shipping? I get the 10lbs ON bags from ebay for around $150 shipped.

    • However we do offer free shipping on all orders over $200 (ex. WA and NT)

  • Australia Only - Flat Rate (ex. NT and WA): $12

  • my local shop sells 10lbs bags for around 150.

I'm an expat from America…. I used to buy my stuff at a rate of $27 US for 5lbs, shipped to my door (including tax). It sucks having to pay prices that are easily double

  • Check out www.proteindirect.com.au for better value protein

    • -2

      seems same price for no-name

      • +1

Brand does not mean quality. They are all sourced from the same factory. Proteindirect buy it directly and dont spend money on fancy packaging and advertising thus why it's cheaper. The Optimum is WPC (80%) dont compare it to the WPI(90%)

        • -3

er i dont think so. optimum is also WPI.

and you've pushed protdir twice now, makes one suspect affiliation.

and you seem to neg critics in the other thread too.

          so neg for you!

and if your affiliated business doesn't spend money on fancy packaging, why is the price still so high… talk about margins lol

          • @kimmik: Flavoured WPI from PD is 86% protein. The Optimum is only 79%.

The flavoured WPC from PD is 73%. They also do 5kg bags rather than 10 pound = 4.5kg bags. There prices are the same all the time too, not just on special.

If you want to split hairs you could average the PD WPI and WPC prices and factor back the 5kg prices to a 4.5kg price. You end up with $121.50 ($20 cheaper than optimum) for a roughly comparable product not on special.

You save another $10 if you get the 10kg bags too.

            Regards.

            • @Funky Moose: please post protdir when they're on special, i'd be interested if so.

btw i got my 20kg wpc 80% for $270 delivered.

          • +1

@kimmik: lol im just a happy customer

        • Proteindirect get there protein from USA. Other companies who sell in bulk from australia source there protein from NZ which is a higher grade and more expensive.

          • @bargs12: Interesting, what is the difference? My bag was from nz, and it was still cheaper than protdir in the same quantity.

        • A reputable brand DOES mean quality. They are not all sourced from the same factory, but quality controls are different, and the concentration of di + tri peptides and hydrolyzed protein is different. Optimum is not WPC, its a blend.

Optimum Nutrition Whey 10lbs price is very average.

    http://www.sportyshealth.com.au/optimum-nutrition-100-whey-g…

    • Our regular price is also $149.95 and we do free shipping on all orders over $200.

  • proof of the average price you pay online in America
    http://www.vitaglo.com/2149.html

  • these links/info would be good in our wiki.

I'm in the market for some WPI.
Do protein direct do specials often? Anyone?

Their site doesn't seem to have specific ingredients of their WPI.. but I'll keep looking.

    • No don't think they have specials, they only give out shakers and shirts with orders now and then.

  • Expiry date? I'm going to be in the market for some more soon, but not for another week or two…
